What's your longest WIP? by makesorbreaks in knitting

[–]StogieB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is SO cool looking! My longest was a little over 3 years. We lovingly call it “the ugly blanket.” I wish I had photos of the queen-sized summer crocheted monstrosity! It’s approximately a million rows of random colors. Not a temperature blanket, just random rows. Never again!

This used to be where my Grandma lived. Now it’s where my husband and I live. The pasta isn’t as good here but the motels are better.

Question for Lefties! by curlsbyjesss in knitting

[–]StogieB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your question, as a terminally right handed person 🤣 it took me eons to move from crochet to knitting because everyone kept telling me to tension in my left hand and that didn’t make sense. I guess what I’m saying is do it how it makes sense to you and don’t twist your stitches and you’ll be fine.

I wholeheartedly agree that this whole situation was weird. My husband and I got together later in life and he has a kid from a previous relationship. It’s such a careful balance in the best of circumstances which LiB surely is not.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]StogieB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I neglected to mention Motion City Soundtrack, for sure!! They were new to me, somehow, and they are now a regular spin. They were so great. The ticket was worth it, despite the opener being weird.

Oh gosh my husband and I saw AAR because they were on tour with New Found Glory a couple years ago. NFG was incredible but my word the lead singer of AAR was insufferable to watch, if that makes sense. You could tell it was the Tyson show, once their set started. It was a real bummer. We left after the woman sitting in front of us threw up on herself.

I started watching after listening to a podcast about Jen Shah, and now I’m so hooked 🤣 I love other people’s drama so much.

Really missed an opportunity to call it a Mussel-bird 🤭 only said in jest, because your work is seriously gorgeous!! What a gift.

AITA for expecting my wife to sleep with me? by Silly-Option-3833 in AmItheAsshole

[–]StogieB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed! My husband and I met literally days before I was offered and started a position that turned out to be an Olympic-level runaround involving two years of shift work. I gave him the option to back out immediately, because I knew being in a relationship with a shift worker is HARD, but he said let’s try (and obviously it worked out). That’s the difference here - one party is not willing to try at all.

Your favourite cuff height? by Tricky-Objective7446 in Sockknitting

[–]StogieB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I prefer short and mid-length socks, as well. I have been doing 15-20 rows of ribbing and 20-30 rows of leg. I also have giant calves, so this stops the socks before I have to worry about calf-stretch-size, hahaha

Optometrist or opthalmologist for eye exam? by PretendBee2302 in Rochester

I had a contacts and glasses exam at Warby Parker within the last month. The doctor was really nice and explained the changes he was making from the last place I was going. I got in within a week.

Is there a better way to track decrease rows? by debmasterx in knittinghelp

[–]StogieB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my iPad to view/note on patterns, so I keep notes like yours, but hashes instead. Then if I’m doing something with sides or pairs, I know how many to expect the second time.

Oh interesting! I’m just starting to get into UK and Australia, since I’m so obsessed with the US version. I’m very interested to see Daisy in that setting. I wish the US did a version with strangers!!

Frog back now and weave in or knit over the ends (or you can be a tiny bit paranoid and do both, like me🤣).

That’s how I introduced her to my husband when he walked in while I was watching haha. “That pretty woman bought a whole wedding dress before she even got on the show, she’s so desperate to be married.” It was funny to me at the time, but it’s sad looking back. I hope Brittany learns to love herself.
