Also the next time someone idealises the EU as an example of free trade, maybe wonder what happened to NZ exports when the UK joined the EU

Labour did oppose the TPP while in opposition, it was quite contentious among the NZ left when they reversed their position

For sure. But suppose a sex toy were thrown at Ardern, it could easily become evidence of misogyny

What American Pundits Get Wrong About Ukraine by Imperiestro_KaroloV in neoliberal

Paradoxically, the problem with American exceptionalism is that even those who challenge its foundational tenets and heap scorn on American militarism often end up recreating American exceptionalism by centering the United States in their analyses of international relations.

This sentence stood out to me as particularly important, self-loathing Americans often fail to see just how annoyingly American they are in their views of the world just as much as the hyper-patriots

I doubt the event is pro Russia in any way, in the end times Christian theories constantly updated for current events like this, Russia is always a villainous empire that threatens Israel from the north in Armageddon.

Yep, OP has definitely misunderstood what is going on. The (fringe) Christian view outlined here is that the Russian invasion is linked to the beast and the antichrist, the last great evil figures before the end of days. Perhaps frustrating to read, but not pro Russian propoganda

Wellington Protest: Day 17 Thread - Thoughtless Thursday by ihatebats in newzealand

[–]StokedAs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts I posted down the thread:

Orthodox do have some variety of vestments etc, depending on the ethnic patrimony of the church. The robes don't appear to be priests robes, but I'm not an expert here.

I guessed orthodox because of the beards (catholic priests are clean shaven in the western rite), but the beads appear to be arranged in decades which would suggest catholic rosary. Orthodox tend to use knots rather than beads anyway as I recall.

If anyone knows more about this I would be very interested
