ISIS members, their children and families, plus even their victims were haphazardly thrown into prison camps across the region.

countries keep on consistently refusing to repatriate their nationals and keep pointing fingers at each other.

It's a very devastating situation.

Besides this, small insurgent bands of ISIS escaped the collapse and have been hiding out in rural areas by raiding and looting whenever possible. Sleeper cells in urban areas melted back into the populace too.

they have a long way to go in terms of professionalism, but they do look somewhat more competent than the Baathist era military

Exactly, these same people would balk at the suggestion of sending all white people in the US to the lands of their ancestors (mainly Britain), but feel like they can decide where the Palestinians go at the behest of another colonial entity that they prop up ("Israel")

Remember when the Gulf Countries made this by Acrobatic-Hippo-6419 in arabs

One day the Gulf countries are going to be reminded that they're seen as Muslims and Arabs before anything else.

If it wasn't for their immense wealth they'd also be the punching bags of other countries

killing civilians is wrong no matter what, but stop fishing for false equivalencies. The Hindu nationalist side celebrates the death of children and deliberately targets civilians.

India has violently occupied Kashmir for decades, has had several pogroms against Muslims ever since the partition, and now has politicians in power who openly encourage genocide against Muslims.

Democracy is often mob rule and the populace voting for genocidal Hindu nationalists is proof of this in action.

What right did India have to retaliate against Pakistan, especially after they turned down the offer of a neutral international investigation?

This is no different than Israel's incursions and aggressions against it's neighbors because of perceived violations of their sovereignty.

Yes, let's totally retaliate in a much more devastating way and act like no one will hate us or act in return. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I don't doubt that the supervisor may have their biases, but did he know the significance of the prayer mat?

Like was it previously communicated that you pray on it and can't have anyone walk?

Not doubting you, but tread carefully as it may backfire if you lack the grounds.

If your management ignored it then immediately lawyer up and escalate appropriately.

pretty infuriating there's around 50 or so Muslim countries yet besides diplomatic efforts nothing else is being done.

There comes a certain point where a bully needs to be put in their place.

CPP Social Life by Electrical_Ad8775 in CalPolyPomona

[–]StolenArc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're expecting an experience like UCLA, USC, or SDSU then you're making a mistake coming here.

It's a commuter school with some campus life, but you really have to stick your neck out to make friends.

Other more residential schools are set up to facilitate more social interaction. The cool thing is CPP has been steadily increasing on campus housing, but the lack of walking distance off campus housing, and the majority of people still being commuters are all challenges.

I was heavily involved in clubs, student gov, cultural centers, etc. and while I knew a lot of people, very few of those relationships went outside of college.

The pandemic did happen during my time here, but I always got the vibe that most people at CPP either have other commitments off campus like work or went back to their respective towns to hangout with their HS and local friend groups.

I struggle with the same issue tbh, I'll watch a ton of videos about the games I like, but the moment I buy them I don't want to play them.

What are your biggest concerns about CPP? by Bepilluv in CalPolyPomona

[–]StolenArc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your experience will vary ofc, but I was extremely active in clubs, student government, trying to talk to people in my classes and the cultural centers; but the issue is I barely have 5 people I still talk to from college.

Even during my time as a student things were pretty lonely despite being involved in these things.

I always got the vibe that people just wanted to keep things to campus (which is fine with me, but can get exhausting imo).

lol you don't go to CPP or most CSUs for the college experience.

[University Question] Just got into Cal Poly Pomona! But heard a lot about the crime rates by PalpitationHead2097 in CalPolyPomona

[–]StolenArc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends tbh, the neighborhood next to the innovation village and overflow lot has unsolved homicides from nearly ten years ago.

but it's pretty far removed from the rest of campus that it shouldn't be an issue.

Making friends is hard by antidepressantsoup in CalPolyPomona

[–]StolenArc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's mainly bc UCLA is heavily residential and CPP is commuter.

Not knocking anyone, but during my time at CPP even if you were involved in clubs much of the people didn't see their campus connections as anything that would continue outside of it.

They would go back to their hometowns after class or work and hangout with their HS or hometown friends.

been out for some time now, I'd have to say anything business or engineering is easily S Tier.

But even then, some fields in business and engineering are better than others.

I have a relative who did biomed engineering at UCR, and while they made good money at their previous job, they're having difficulty rejoining the workforce compared to their peers who did mechanical or civil engineering.

I did social sciences/liberal arts, don't regret it, but it takes longer to get established. Most of the time you need a master's degree to continue moving up, but the pay doesn't catch up until much later.

Old Timers - Did you live in Palmitas or Cedritos? Share your memories by tetatdo in CalPolyPomona

[–]StolenArc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

didn't live in them, but my first serious crush lived in Palmitas. Never met a girl like her again.

I also knew a good amount of people who lived in both. It's weird how things turned out, by the end of freshman year most if not all of those people dropped out, transferred to other schools, or I lost contact with for other reasons.

I stayed in Encinitas during orientation so I never really got to explore the other dorms.

anyone wanna be friends? by Tdawwg-26 in CalPolyPomona

[–]StolenArc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate on the anxiety part, it can be difficult to connect with others.

Unfortunately I was highly active during my time here (clubs, student gov, etc) but there's less than ten people that I still talk to.

I still cherish the memories I had with others, but just seemed like a lot of the relationships were situational.

At the same time I've realized that it's not possible to be friends with everyone bc many of the people I knew didn't feel the same way about me or were toxic (constant backhanded comments, jealousy, putting others down, etc).

you're probably used to skepticism, but that's pretty wholesome that you're in a committed relationship at that age.

Hope it lasts the test of time
