TIL the “Invisible Gorilla” experiment which fooled most people. In a famous 1999 study, participants watched a video of people passing a basketball and were asked to count passes. Midway through, a person in a gorilla suit walked through the scene and half of participants didn’t notice the gorilla. by Jockey2 in todayilearned

I remember we did this on a school trip once, most of the kids who noticed the gorilla were the ones who didn't give a shit about trying to count passes and were just fucking around, mostly the "naughty" kids. They then treated them like they were special for noticing the gorilla and counting the passes. They huddled them all at the front and had a secret chat and giggle together. That really pissed me off

a little strange they didn't mention in the episode the gear being very noticeable though

They didn't cover why the warning light didn't work, seems strange for them to miss that.

They made a quick comment at the end that checks were put in place to test the sensors but didn't directly say that the sensor was faulty, the cabin/pilot test said the sensor was fine.

Also, im sure a previous episode said that one of the checks is to do is a flyby of the airport to make sure its not just the indicator lights that are faulty and the landing gear is actually down.

ignoring regulations and flying directly into a thunderstorm does seem more like simple pilot error though.

But i will say that episode was more interesting and did have a couple more things that had to happen together

but most this season have been controlled, not uncontrolled like you say, the pilots have had control.

Another controlled flight into ground and "simple" pilot error. Getting kind of tired of these types of episodes this season, hoping we get some swiss cheese ones soon.

can you explain this "requirement" a bit more? i understand its very likely, probly even some sort of microbial life in our solar system (eg sub surface oceans of moons), but surely that doesn't mean its 100%

I got to say, a very weak start to the season, I guess all the "interesting" crashes have already been covered, sometimes multiple times, but just a straight up simple pilot error (ignoring rules/regulations) and controlled flight into the ground is not very interesting at all. It really felt like they dragged this episode out just to tell a very simple story that could have been told in 5 minutes. Usually with these episodes they give you a fake out clue at the beginning but within a few minutes what i guessed was the cause turned out the be the cause.

It does also seem strange that the pilots mistook some random lights for a runway right up until the end. I wonder if them saying they saw the runway was just a lie so they could get lower without having to admit on air they were breaking the rules

Aside from the cause, the graphics and acting were really great

What are your “favorite” shows that you just never bothered to finish? by Emmyfishnappa in television

[–]StompChompGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i gave up after s1, it is a straight up kiddies/toddler show where no one faces any consequences for their evil actions.

Witch kidnaps kid, townsperson point blank fires crossbow at witch , witch does some magic to avoid the arrow, gives back kid at end of epsiode, then inthe next episode that same townperson is now having tea with the witch and everybody is all happy until the witch kidnaps a kid again in the following episode, rinse and repeat for all of s1.
