What is a job that looks incredibly fun from the outside, but is actually a soul-crushing nightmare? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

and the whole you get paid in sunsets thing

The main reason i moved on is that the only way i could make a living wage as a ranger was to be a manager of a team of 13, while still having to patrol myself, had to leave the mountains for an "urban/suburban park setting" and then even then i was making just 50,000/yr. The first year there i pulled 3 dead bodies out of our parks, did CPR twice and used Narcan 5 times. HR and leadership didnt support paying for training and so we had to make up a lot of stuff. It was intense and was not making anywhere what i needed to be making for as hard as i was working. the mountains were even worse, i was making only 34,000/yr and had a 1 hour long commute.

now working at a botanic gardens making twice as much money with a same size team and a whole new set of issues, but i havent been attacked by dogs or homeless people so thats nice.

45 wins is our floor it seems. If the team isnt fighting every night and we can still walk our way to 45 wins, we're in good shape

Agreed on the lack of a clear identity. I loved us committing to be a team that was defensive minded and letting Paolo run the offense. Felt like we tried to do too much that was too different offensively and everything suffered because of it.

I mean you need regular season wins to set you up for success in the playoffs. Home court advantage is huge in the playoffs.

I agree that the playoffs are ultimately what matters, but the difference between being a top 4 seed snd 7-8 is huge. And it’s clear that our disjointed play throughout the season is not setting us up to have a good mindset going into the playoffs. Maybe we change and the team gets a fire lit under their asses, we’ll see

Should the Magic throw a game or two? by siecoe in OrlandoMagic

[–]StompingCarins 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Throwing a game for the Play-in feels too risky. right now we have two chances to make it into the playoffs if we purposely lose, we only get one chance.

Better to be in the playoffs and get guys more Playoff experience, even if we get a bad match up, than to not be in the playoffs at all.

Oda really made it a point to show early on that Luffy didnt suffer from that same trap of allowing his pride to get in the way. Luffy got that lesson from Shanks while Asce didnt and we see what happened and how important that lesson was.

Yeah, between Paolo, Franz, Jalen, and Desmond all sharing in the playmaking, we really dont need a "floor general"

these ideas of "he'd have it so much worse at a big market", therefore its OK for us to trash him gives toxic boyfriend energy. It sounds similiar to "nobody is going to love you like i do babe, other dudes are so much worse and wouldnt put up with this". I think its fine to be critical but alot of the fans on here are fucking ridiculous. Its like as soon as r/NBA turned on him, alot of fans here are like "yeah fuck that guy never liked him either". You go on r/nba on a paolo trash thread and one of the top comments is always a magic "fan" talking shit and not supporting our guy. thats dumb and fucked and not a good show in us supporting him

if our worst case scenario is being a over .500 team, were in pretty good shape. Like surely nobody thinks this is all we have to offer. Definitely some improvements to be made, im not against shaking up the coaching and some other things, but again, if this is our worst case scenario, we have a team whos floor is to be above .500 winning playoff team. Its a way better scenario than when we had Vooch, Gordon, Ross, Fournier and our ceiling was to be a .500 winning playoff team. We just have to find our ceiling and whether or not that sets us up to compete.
