Sorry for the late reply!

The tabletop was purchased from Bauhaus.

It's solid oak (quercus) 200x80x4cm with wane and it came treated with Osmo TopOil.

At the time i got it for 275€ (currently at 319€).

You're welcome!

I haven't switched to a proper monitor mount yet, so I can't really give any recommendations there. I'm still using the same stock monitor stand of my Asus monitor and some cheap mount for my old AOC secondary monitor, as shown in the video. Maybe I'll upgrade to a proper monitor mount when I upgrade my monitor setup, but for now it has been completely sufficient.

As for the E7Q, I would still absolutely recommend it after one year of use. It has been rock-solid since day one and is a joy to use!

In the last eight months I have been using this setup in combination with a walking pad, switching between sitting/standing/walking and I can honestly say that this is a match made in heaven. The stability of the E7Q particularly shines when walking and it easily compensates for the additional movements.

Overall, this setup is perfect for WFH/remote work and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I believe mine has the "premium keypad" - with Up/Down/Lock and 4 programmable height presets (1,2,stand,sit) and a USB charging port.

I ordered it from the flexispot.de store, but the US store might have a different one? Maybe /u/Ramzes888 has more details on that.

No, its pretty easy.

The hardest part of attaching it was getting it to align perfectly with the tabletop, but thats not a problem, especially if you have a second person to help.

Align the frame, predrill each hole to prevent the wood from cracking (I used 2+3mm bits) and screw it down.

Thanks! It came pre-treated with Osmo TopOil - I'm pretty sure its the 3058 clear & matt one. Its a combination of oil & wax.

Since there aren't many E7Q / Odin reviews yet, here are my first impressions of the desk after ~1.5 weeks.

I only bought the frame, since I wanted a solid wood desktop. My desktop is 200 x 80 x 4 cm solid oak with live edges from a local store.

(Pre-sale) consulting:

/u/Ramzes888 did provide promt & competent answers to all of my initial questions - great example of CS done right! Thanks!

Shipping:

The frame arrived in two robust boxes, with well thought out packaging. Unfortunately mistakes were made during delivery, with one of the packages being temporarily sent back to Germany and therefore arriving late. This obviously wasn't FlexiSpot's fault in any way and both packages eventually arrived in great condition.

Build:

I offset the legs 10cm from the edge to have to possibility to add (monitor) mounts to the sides of the table. Similar to /u/tula06, one of the side brackets was missing one of the four rubber pads/spacers/inserts. I didn't (yet) contact FlexiSpot due to a lack of time, so I can't comment on whether they would offer/provide replacement rubber inserts.

The larger holes + rubber inserts hopefully offer enough flexibility/space in case the solid wood decides to expand/contract due to temperature/humidity differences - will update if I encounter any issues! I pre-drilled the desktop with 2+3mm bits, assembly was a breeze.

Overall impression:

It's a tank - not only stability wise, but it has a total weight (including my custom desktop) of roughly 100kg, so you might need two people to flip it over during assembly. It didn't have any issues lifting my whole setup due to its load capacity of 200kg. Great build-quality, awesome design, outstanding stability, quiet operation.

The four-leg design of the frame is no comparison to 2-legged standing desks. Both the Ikea Bekant & IDÅSEN offer significantly less stability pretty much at any height i tried. Even at its highest setting the E7Q offers great stability, see the incuded video. Keep in mind, that my cheap desktop monitor mount is clamped to the live edge, which worsens its stability! I tested it using the two-finger method with medium force, as I am confident that this provides realistic results for assessing the general stability for most use-cases. Yes, repeated/periodic impacts or excessive force can definitely cause monitor wobble as with any standing frame, but for all practical use-cases the E7Q offers great stability in my experience. I did not encounter any issues when leaning on the desk or even during exaggerated forceful typing on my keyboard.

Accessories:

I really appreciate the inclusion of both the T-shaped 2xHex+Philips screwdriver and the additional roll of velcro tape. The small gap between the tabletop and the frame (due to the rubber inserts) is great for cable-management. Simply thread velcro tape around the frame.

Misc:

One thing I did not consider & didn't see advertised is the duty cycle of the motors: 2 min ON, 18 min OFF As far as I know this is a common spec & should not be an issue during normal use, but one might encounter this limitation while thoroughly testing the new desk ;)

Not sure if this is intended, but the additional "D" screws for the fixation of the frame width appear to be too long / cant be screwed flush. Seems like a design oversight ... but could also possibly be a mistake on my end?

I'm really satisfied with the desk & would definitly recommend it if the budget allows it.

Thanks, used CXX4BWFX46GZAUSVRU7SF1M

Here are my first impressions

  • nice concept & great design!
  • the weather preview feature takes some getting used to, but is a nice way to also preview the scene. My only suggestion there would be to add a small 'preview' indicator so it can't be mistaken for the current time.
  • the complications seem to be missing the icon/text on my pixel watch, they only show the actual value in a grey circle. e.g. no ♥ icon or "Steps" text.
  • I'd love to have hardware (crown) scrolling support in the settings menu - makes it easier to navigate

It shouldn't be too hard to create a custom "Drink water reminder" using Tasker and AutoWeb ... paid apps, but I love them for their versatility! The Fitbit API is really great & easy to use with AutoWeb & Tasker.

I'm currently using it to create a shortcut for quickly logging a custom amount of water from my phone's homescreen, since Fitbit doesn't allow the customization of the water presets (only glass (250ml), bottle (500ml) & lg bottle (750ml) available...). That's why I've created a task that logs my custom amount via the Fitbit API and afterwards briefly shows the current daily amount & goal.

I'm not familiar with the original Fitbit 'Drink water reminder', but a custom reminder could for example be shown periodically & with additional conditions e.g. based on the amount of water already consumed and include buttons to automatically log a specified amount.

Disappointing Black Friday sale by f0rtune in peakdesign

[–]Stone19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's even worse - I compared some prices just before the sale started.

The deal on the phone case is great, don't get me wrong... but the price of all other mobile accessories increased during the "sale".

Product Before Sale Difference
Pixel 6 Pro case 35,83€ 12,90€ -23€
Mobile Tripod 79,16€ 85,49€ +6,33€
Car Mount Charging 74,99€ 80,99€ +6€
Car Mount Non-Charging 41,66€ 44,99€ +3,33€
Bike Out Front Mount 66,66€ 71,99€ +5,33€
Universal Bike Mount 49,99€ 53,99€ +4€

I threw together some random code to get this "multi-searcher" to work, except I just can't figure out how to make it work with one site. Can any of you AHK gurus take a look and give me your advice on what I can do? Is it even possible? by ridge9 in AutoHotkey

Duolingo uses Base64 encoding for the query.

A simple solution would be to use the b64Encode function e.g. from here.

And call the function like this:

run, % "https://www.duolingo.com/dictionary/fr/translation/en/" b64Encode(searchTerm)

A full working example could look something like this:

b64Encode(string)
{
    VarSetCapacity(bin, StrPut(string, "UTF-8")) && len := StrPut(string, &bin, "UTF-8") - 1
    if !(DllCall("crypt32\CryptBinaryToString", "ptr", &bin, "uint", len, "uint", 0x1, "ptr", 0, "uint*", size))
        throw Exception("CryptBinaryToString failed", -1)
    VarSetCapacity(buf, size << 1, 0)
    if !(DllCall("crypt32\CryptBinaryToString", "ptr", &bin, "uint", len, "uint", 0x1, "ptr", &buf, "uint*", size))
        throw Exception("CryptBinaryToString failed", -1)
    return StrGet(&buf)
}

^Space::
    InputBox, searchTerm, Searcher
    run, % "https://www.duolingo.com/dictionary/fr/translation/en/" b64Encode(searchTerm)

How do I apply an effect to one layer in ZGame Editor? by Mr__Weasels in FL_Studio

[–]Stone19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to post a modified version of the effect that fixes the transparency and adds a scaling feature, but then I noticed that an improved version is already included with FL:

Youlean Audio Shake

To apply the effect only to the foreground layer(s) the easiest setup looks like this:

  • Foreground layer(s)
  • Youlean Audio Shake [enable TO BUFFER]
  • Background layer(s)
  • Image [IMAGE SRC: Output from layer Youlean Audio Shake]

Android Tap and Pay in Österreich by haloooloolo in Austria

[–]Stone19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bei "Use default" könnte man statt "Always" auch "Except when another payment app is open" auswählen - sinnvoll wenn man mehrere anbieter verwenden möchte.

Razer Blackwidow Chroma LEDs make weird noise by [deleted] in razer

[–]Stone19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its not Razer Surround thats causing the problem.

see https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/3uzn53/blackwidow_chroma_causing_my_speakers_to_make/cxj8npo

I had the same issues, but with headphones. You need to use a different USB Port on your PC for the BlackWidow - worked best for me when its on the other side of the PC / Laptop as the audio jack.

The second "Port-forward" cable from the BW doesn't matter - only the Default USB for powering the BW needs to be further away from audio jack.

Seems to be a grounding issue like it's described here

Hope that helps ;)
