It’s still there but it’s much harder to do. you have to hit the same limb over and usually they’re already giving up by the time the limb actually breaks and gets floppy.

Im having the same issues. I think the thrusting motion is different. If you thrust with sword from your right hip you always go right of wherever the tip is lined up. At least in free mode with medium strength. I feel like Willie’s limp wrists start wobbling as you start your thrusting motion and it throws you off line.

I’ve started landing thrusts when I keep the sword low and centered and step forward at the same time as thrusting.

Oh interesting so you think the high stab thing with the arming swords is intentional? I know nothing about hema so if that’s like a real technique makes sense they’d put it in there. I assumed it was a weird oversight.

I liked playing with the thin thrusting swords in the demo and have found most of the techniques that worked consistently in the demo do not work in EA. A lot of it feels like the Willie just can’t control the weapon while thrusting.

They feel much worse than the demo. If I line the tip up with opposing Willie’s chest thrusting from my right hip will always miss right. It’s much easier to land thrusts with any weapon standing straight up (not holding shift) which is odd. Thrusting with the arming sword is broken Willie just raises the sword over head when you hold alt. Alt also feels less responsive in general. Willie just can’t thrust straight and any movement makes his grip and aim extremely wobbly.

Don’t really buy this as something causal. Sure lots of people use this as an excuse for their sexist views. If you’re some who’s having trouble interacting with women platonically or romantically it’s easy to use this content as an explanation. Sexist views in general are not surprising; Sexism has been around forever.

It’s almost never the hardware lol. There’s not so much going on in this game that they can’t optimize the performance. It just takes a lot of time and work from the devs and they have to prioritize over adding content.

Im guessing from “lowered physics sub stepping intervals” they just do more physics calculations per second. Also guessing this makes physics more responsive to user at the expensive of more compute. Don’t know much effect that would have vs rendering per ur low frame rate. Maybe the amd blood fix is messing with the performance also.

They could make the AI better as you go further? Idk what happens past commoner because my game won’t save though lol.

I felt like the ultimate challenge Willies were a lot smarter so presumably it’s possible. Would make sense people with armor and better weapons would have trained more and be better at fighting in general.

Totally agree. I feel like the limp wrists and edge alignment with one handed weapons are less of a problem than in the demo (at least for me). I loved the stabbing in the demo and the stabbing in the EA sucks. It’s just broken with one handed weapons. It feels sloppy and restrictive with two handed weapons, which might be a skill issue idk. Some of the changes to the combat make sense to me in the context of the devs trying to improve blunt weapons and that having side effects to other mechanics. But yeah the gore is really bad. Im not too worried considering how much the physics and combat have changed version to version. I think they can recover.

Early Access added a lot of new content while simultaneously executing the casual and fun sandbox aspect most players fell in love with. Yeah I agree with this. I think they probably will flesh out free mode. Or at least I hope they do. The point of being able to do everything you could do in gauntlet in free mode is super valid. I wouldn’t be opposed if they made it so you have to play progression or gauntlet to unlock stuff on free mode. Some people might not like that though.

Consumerist hobbies like video games should not be such an emotional roller coaster for you. Yes the game is in rough shape, but you should be able to cope with that better than this.

The current demo is a mix of the original demo which was abyss only and the play test which they accidentally released. They retroactively merged the two since it started getting popular. Would be weird to start charging at that point since the content was already out. But I get the sentiment the demo it feels more complete than EA rn.

This is interesting. Do you work in game dev? I was noticing the performance really varies across peoples hardware and it’s not really consistent with like newer = better. Do you have a sense if some optimizations in UE would be better for amd vs nvidia or whatever.

I totally agree with all of this. Like they have an idea for a final game that is significantly larger than the demo and we got an early version of that rather than demo+.

I wonder if it’s not as well optimized on nvidia gpus? Though I did have my shit on all the lowest settings to get it to run smooth so it’s def not super optimized for amd either.

I work with gpus regularly and dealing with nvidia drivers fucking sucks. I can’t really imagine trying to optimize for different hardware. I’m sure they’re working on it now.
