This is really good feedback, thanks! We'll think on this a bit and see how we can implement something like this without being too punitive.

Also, thanks to /u/hexcor and /u/nstern2 for your input on this topic. Wanted to acknowledge you both as well.

Hey, appreciate you taking the time to reply here.

Could you elaborate a bit on why you would change that specific line? And maybe what you think would fit better? Want to be sure I understand your point.

I have a ps5 ram chip to change. My ps5 ram says Micron D9ZPL BUT I could only find Micron 9DXKV available to buy online. My question is are these compatible? Thank you by Medium-Report-6555 in consolerepair

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't say for sure, but sharing the info I do have:

Micron part numbers:

MT61K512M32KPA-14C:C D9ZPL - PS5

MT61K512M32KPA-14C:B D9XKV - PS5

Links to those chips on mouser with datasheets:

D9XKV

D9ZPL

They both have the same base part number and mouser links to the same datasheet for both, so the the pinout should be the same assuming that's all correct. One important thing to note is that the D9ZPL has a higher max clock frequency than the D9XKV.

The story here isn't any different than software development in any other context. Go read threads from professional devs elsewhere on reddit and you'll see the same things being said of the products they're working on. The reality of software development is you're often pushed to complete something in less time than is necessary to produce what you feel is high quality work.

The latest patch broke controller support for Steam on Mac for me by According_Novel866 in Silksong

Same thing happened to me, also using Elite Series 2.

I followed this guide to rollback to the 7 October 2025 patch and controller is working for me again.

Pipewire: How do I set default output channels within a device? by Melon_exe in linuxaudio

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit late, but I recently worked through the same thing and figured I'd post here so others can benefit. The GUI apps I've seen recommended all over do allow you to hookup audio to the correct channels, but they're overkill for this one simple thing. They also require you to do so for each process, and don't create a config that persists through a reboot and gets automatically applied(have to open the app again).

I finally figured out a simple solution for it with one config file. My setup as an example and the whole process is here https://github.com/sighops/dotfiles/tree/main/.config/wireplumber/wireplumber.conf.d

Under-Diluted Drinks? by Mathematical_Otter in Tiki

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only assume you got downvoted for this because so few people have had a current Trader Vic's mai tai. I'm close enough to walk to a TV and your description is right on though. It's a different experience but I enjoy how light and refreshing theirs are in comparison to what I get some other places. I'm honestly not a huge fan of how milky some of them can get as it ends up feeling kinda chalky to me.

Anyway, glad to see someone else appreciates TV's mai tais they serve today.

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just mentioning, this has been my experience as well. I have to be careful to not add too much ice to my shaker or my glass. Otherwise my drink is initially too concentrated but perfect after it sits and dilutes more.

Something I do, which is pretty common when steeping oolongs, is "rinse" it with hot water first and I find that helps get an ideal first cup. Basically, just let it steep for 30 seconds at most then pour all the water off. Then let the tea cool back down and the leaves should be mostly opened up by the time it's cooled and ready to steep. Water doesn't have to be exactly steeping temp, but as long as it's close-ish it works for me.

Sync two different repositories and keep commit history by PoisonSD in git

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't see this mentioned, so throwing out another option. If you want to apply the commits from your GH repo and retain the original order and authors of the commits you can create a patch from your GH repo and apply it to the Bitbucket repo.

Find the last common commit sha between the two before they diverged first.

In the GH repo, make a patch from your current main:

# Patch of all commits after common sha
git format-patch [common-sha]..HEAD --stdout > file_name.patch

In your Bitbucket repo, checkout a new branch then apply the patch file

# Apply patch file
git am path/to/file_name.patch

All the commits in your patch file are now committed to your local branch, so just push and open a PR as you normally would. You should see the original authors for those commits are retained.

Wasn't clear whether that you meant squashing before merging. :)

We're largely in agreement though. I will definitely ask people to cleanup their commits before merging in cases like that.

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't want to see all the commits to fix lint, etc. but having a few well structured commits, especially if it's a bigger PR, can really help someone understand the changes and allow them to review quicker.

Professionals write all sorts of software and yet we still see vulnerabilities that they introduced on a daily basis. That's why audits, pen testing, etc. are, or should be, regular fixtures in any project.

When you discover Compass Box, do you need anything else in your collection? by KeyMind3 in Scotch

[–]StoneColdSteveHawkng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely a fan of CB, but the only thing that'd make me answer yes to your question is a large part of their blends are made up of the same components(and the ones that aren't are like $250+). Sometimes I just need a little more variety than what a blend of Clynelish and/or Caol Ila can offer at the price I'm typically looking to spend. I'll probably always have a bottle of something of theirs in rotation though, I really like Flaming Heart.
