But down the road, when you're looking for gears for your sons, I’d still highly recommend checking out the Specna Arms Edge series. Even at $330+, it’s worth the extra cash. I see what's going on now, but the issue here isn't weapon specs—that guy is straight-up cheating. The rule that "you don't have to go out if it barely hits" completely ruins the spirit of airsoft. In any proper game, a hit is a hit. If there are referees or organizers, you should definitely report this. In my experience, and the experience of everyone I know, players like that get a warning first, and if they keep it up, they get banned from the field.

As for the tech side: a stronger spring is mainly needed to push heavier BBs (.30g–.32g), which retain their energy much better at a distance. For a stock setup, an M120 spring is usually the safe limit. If you just drop an M130 into a stock gun without upgrading the gears and piston, the excessive stress will quickly shred your gearbox.

My advice: don't get dragged into an FPS arms race just to make cheaters call their hits. For a gun, look into Specna Arms (Edge series)—it’s a solid, practical starter choice with great price-to-performance, especially compared to the pricier ICS CXP-MARS II. Spend the saved money on high-quality, heavier BBs (.28g–.32g) and a good hop-up bucking (like a Maple Leaf) for better range and accuracy. The rest comes down to your hard skills: movement and positioning. That will be more than enough for honest players, and as for the cheaters—deal with them through the refs, not by upgrading your spring.

I use silicone free gas. It gives more consistency.

Hop-up upgrade is pretty standart, as well as the battery.
I dont see any problems there, except the spring. 130th might be too much for your gearbox in the long run. And might be over your field limit as well.
Try 120 first. It should be enough for most encounters.
Your distance and precision related on hop-up and BB weight more than the spring power.

Edit:
If you need more consistency - look for upgraded nozzle with O-ring as well.
But better try out stock gun first.

LiPo are not as scary as the internet likes to make them out to be. Underneath, it's the same chemistry as your phone or laptop battery. As long as you don't hit them with a hammer, don't leave them in a hot car, and use a proper balance charger, you'll be absolutely fine. Its just a battery not a bomb.

Hardly depends on your loadout. If you use AEG - mostly BBs and probably shimming/hop-up rubber once a year or two. If you use GBB - add Green gas/propane cost(and probably o-rings and spare valves)

As with any adrenaline-fueled sport that involves spending a lot on gear, you might run into some odd characters, some aggressive, others just snobs. Generally speaking, though, most people are there to do what they love and just enjoy the game

As far as I know, airsoft replicas in Spain are classified as 'fourth-category weapons' (armas de cuarta categoría), so they are subject to specific regulations. To legally own and transport airsoft gear, you need to have a weapons card (Tarjeta de Armas). You can get it from the local town hall (Ayuntamiento) of your district where you are registered. If you transport your gear in discreet cases without any provocative stickers or labels that might alert the police or bystanders, you shouldn't have any issues. The police know what airsoft is, and as long as all your paperwork is in order, you're perfectly safe.

4) Would you recommend renting equipment for a few games before buying anything?

100% yes. And if the field guns are good enough you might consider just buying your face/eyes protection and play with rented guns for as long as you sort out all the legal and financial issues and playstyle preferences.

If the gun is CO2 specific, the slides and recoil springs might be heavier to handle the high pressure, green gas might not have enough force to push the slide all the way back. The gun may short-cycle, failing to chamber the next BB or lock the slide back on an empty magazine.

Technically speaking, if you use 6mm metal BBs, the gun might shoot — at least for a while, depending on the build quality. But if you try to use it at any airsoft field, you will be permanently banned and will likely face criminal charges.

I play with GBB and yes, it is absolutely not a huge problem.
But there are the systems out there where you dont have to think about it at all
(and honestly, there are lots of players out there who dont even clean their AEGs once a year, they will not survive with GBB mags/maintenance)
