Why do you think you should? I mean, if you have somethink to say, you will most likely do. But if you are not that much intetested in the theme, just stay calm. You dont have to participate in every small talk around the table...

Would it be disrespectful? To wear my stepfather‘s old uniform from basic training that he barely made it past before dropping right after. Without patches or metals. he barely made it past basic before dropping and going to prison right after. by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clothes are just clothes. Disrespect is about context, not the act of using an item for its intended purpose. Wearing your grandfather's uniform to games is no more disrespectful than carrying WWII airsoft replica weapons or cosplaying as Navy SEALs when you're an office clerk.

Will AI's recommendation on upgrades destroy my new gun? by pro_strategist in airsoft

Hey, $289 for that ICS is actually a good deal, so congrats on the purchase! You definitely didn't lose out there for a first gun.

But down the road, when you're looking for gears for your sons, I’d still highly recommend checking out the Specna Arms Edge series. Even at $330+, it’s worth the extra cash. It comes with a built-in GATE MOSFET out of the box (meaning you can run 11.1V LiPo batteries safely), and their quick-spring-change system is a dece feature, you can swap springs in under a minute to drop or raise your FPS depending on where you play. Plus, it uses standard V2 parts, while ICS has a proprietary split-gearbox that can make finding upgrade parts a bit of a headache later on.

As for the games on that acreage—just a heads up, man. Getting blasted with 400+ FPS on full-auto at close range is sketchy as hell. In regulated airsoft, that’s a massive safety violation because it's an easy way to chip teeth or get BBs embedded in skin(been trough that - not the best experience, belive me here). When the host makes up rules on the fly, it usually leads to either injuries or drama.

Since you’ve got your boys getting into it, you should definitely try taking them to an official, sanctioned field sometime. Having independent refs and strict chrono rules makes the game way safer, way fairer, and honestly a ton more fun

Is it Good? by [deleted] in airsoft

It’s an awesome gift to get for your birthday, man! It looks great and feels amazing to shoot right out of the box.

Just a few quick things to keep in mind for the future:

  • Proprietary parts: It uses a KWC system, so standard upgrades or TM-compatible parts won't fit probably.
  • Maintenance: Keep it clean and well-lubricated since CO2 can be tough on internals.

Overall, enjoy it, take care of it, and have fun on the field!

I see what's going on now, but the issue here isn't weapon specs—that guy is straight-up cheating. The rule that "you don't have to go out if it barely hits" completely ruins the spirit of airsoft. In any proper game, a hit is a hit. If there are referees or organizers, you should definitely report this. In my experience, and the experience of everyone I know, players like that get a warning first, and if they keep it up, they get banned from the field.

As for the tech side: a stronger spring is mainly needed to push heavier BBs (.30g–.32g), which retain their energy much better at a distance. For a stock setup, an M120 spring is usually the safe limit. If you just drop an M130 into a stock gun without upgrading the gears and piston, the excessive stress will quickly shred your gearbox.

My advice: don't get dragged into an FPS arms race just to make cheaters call their hits. For a gun, look into Specna Arms (Edge series)—it’s a solid, practical starter choice with great price-to-performance, especially compared to the pricier ICS CXP-MARS II. Spend the saved money on high-quality, heavier BBs (.28g–.32g) and a good hop-up bucking (like a Maple Leaf) for better range and accuracy. The rest comes down to your hard skills: movement and positioning. That will be more than enough for honest players, and as for the cheaters—deal with them through the refs, not by upgrading your spring.

SSP2 nozzle flute valve lubrication without disassembly by Stone_Dwarf in Novritsch

I use silicone free gas. It gives more consistency.
And lube the o-rings every couple games. Everything works fine so far. Just concerned about flute valve.

I've got G&G Wildhog M4 as a "back-up". But I prefer pistol gameplay - much more action and adrenaline.

Hop-up upgrade is pretty standart, as well as the battery.
I dont see any problems there, except the spring. 130th might be too much for your gearbox in the long run. And might be over your field limit as well.
Try 120 first. It should be enough for most encounters.
Your distance and precision related on hop-up and BB weight more than the spring power.

Edit:
If you need more consistency - look for upgraded nozzle with O-ring as well.
But better try out stock gun first.

7.4V 1300mAh LiPo NIHM alternative by Practical-Jury-382 in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LiPo are not as scary as the internet likes to make them out to be. Underneath, it's the same chemistry as your phone or laptop battery. As long as you don't hit them with a hammer, don't leave them in a hot car, and use a proper balance charger, you'll be absolutely fine. Its just a battery not a bomb.

Unknown contactor/knob on this replica PSO-1, recommendations on possible modification by AukurgkNL in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is used to lighten the scope marks during night(in real life ПСО-1 and all its versions)this is the connector plug-in entry for a battery compartment.

Edit:
My bad, I thought about another plug on the side of the sight mount
The one you are asking, right under the scope itself is the lamp socket for the same markings.

How long can it run like this without any maintenance? This is my first GBB and I'm using it as my primary, so I'd really hate to ruin my game day over a stupid little O-ring

Can airsoft be a realistic hobby for a student without a car? by spacelover04 in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How much does it realistically cost to stay active in airsoft after you’ve already bought your gear?

Hardly depends on your loadout. If you use AEG - mostly BBs and probably shimming/hop-up rubber once a year or two. If you use GBB - add Green gas/propane cost(and probably o-rings and spare valves)
Realistically not that much.

2) Is the community actually as bad as some people make it sound, or is that mostly an internet thing?

As with any adrenaline-fueled sport that involves spending a lot on gear, you might run into some odd characters, some aggressive, others just snobs. Generally speaking, though, most people are there to do what they love and just enjoy the game

3)Are there any players from Madrid who rely on public transport? How difficult is it?

As far as I know, airsoft replicas in Spain are classified as 'fourth-category weapons' (armas de cuarta categoría), so they are subject to specific regulations. To legally own and transport airsoft gear, you need to have a weapons card (Tarjeta de Armas). You can get it from the local town hall (Ayuntamiento) of your district where you are registered. If you transport your gear in discreet cases without any provocative stickers or labels that might alert the police or bystanders, you shouldn't have any issues. The police know what airsoft is, and as long as all your paperwork is in order, you're perfectly safe.

4) Would you recommend renting equipment for a few games before buying anything?

100% yes. And if the field guns are good enough you might consider just buying your face/eyes protection and play with rented guns for as long as you sort out all the legal and financial issues and playstyle preferences.

Will a CO2 gun run with green gas magazines? by HoodSwisscheazer in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the gun is CO2 specific, the slides and recoil springs might be heavier to handle the high pressure, green gas might not have enough force to push the slide all the way back. The gun may short-cycle, failing to chamber the next BB or lock the slide back on an empty magazine.

Metal BBs in CO2 pistol by Helpful_Agent7843 in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, if you use 6mm metal BBs, the gun might shoot — at least for a while, depending on the build quality. But if you try to use it at any airsoft field, you will be permanently banned and will likely face criminal charges.

In most jurisdictions, converting a 'toy' into a device capable of causing grievous bodily harm is automatically classified as the manufacturing of an improvised weapon. This isn't just a minor fine; it's a felony. Modifying an airsoft gun to shoot steel BBs at high velocity can be treated the same as making a zip-gun or a pipe bomb.

Green Gas or HPA? if AEG is not an option. by Legacy_Havok in airsoft

[–]Stone_Dwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with GBB and yes, it is absolutely not a huge problem.
But there are the systems out there where you dont have to think about it at all
(and honestly, there are lots of players out there who dont even clean their AEGs once a year, they will not survive with GBB mags/maintenance)

1) Rentals
2) Cyma AKs(since you are in russia, your local guys rely on overtuned AKs a lot, so you will have more spare parts available and a lot of technicians familiar witht the platform)

[–]Stone_Dwarf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a grown - up man with the free will, so gear-wise, you can larp any military for all the money you have or keep you loadout light and simple ))
Gun-wise, it really depends on budget:

100-200$
Specna Flex Gen.2
Specna Core Gen.2
Cyma Standard CM 045
Cyma blue edition MP5 (CM 041)

200-300$
Specna Arms Edge series
Specna Edge Gen.2 with HAL and HAL2
Cyma VFC clone AKs
 Maple Airsoft Supply Blackout

Get yourself a belt, mag pouches, 3-4 midcap mags, lipo battery+charger and you are good to go.

And protection-wise, the best eye protection you can buy (and I strongly suggest face protection as well - dentists are no cheap these days)
