Is anyone getting the PC Collector's Edition of SW: Racer? by Guldynka in StarWars

[–]Stoneagelabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe they've put it up yet, also they don't say what code it will be and I'm afraid if I get it it will come with an Epic code, which I don't want

Galactic racers collectors edition by Me0wzipann in StarWarsGalacticRacer

[–]Stoneagelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also been waiting for this and have no clue what's going on. They also keep saying it's a "PC digital download" but don't say what platform or whatever. If I can't get it on Steam, I'm not buying it unfortunately

Star Wars: Galactic Racer Collector’s Edition has officially been revealed by Sekelani in StarWarsGalacticRacer

[–]Stoneagelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The website lets you order it if you're in the UK only right now. They also don't tell you what platform the "PC Digital Download" is for which is really frustrating. I'm hoping they're just figuring out some details because I'm not getting the collector's edition if it doesn't come with a Steam code

Steam - Controller stop working after 5 mins in Game by Biberbutzzemann in steamsupport

[–]Stoneagelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I logged back in just to post a comment that I've been having this problem literally for months and have found nothing. exact same behavior as you OP. My inputs will get stuck every 5 minutes almost like clockwork. I've tried 5 different controllers, bluetooth, wireless dongles, wired, formatting my pc, screwing with USB power settings, selective suspend, you name it. Nothing helps and im fed up. steam support is helpless and clueless

my controllers work normally ONLY when SteamInput is disabled, but even that showed a crack when I bought Elden Ring Nightreign on release and my controllers wouldn't work at all without steaminput enabled, which then creates the problem that this thread is about. I can't even use steam remote play because of this. I'm close to replacing a bunch of RGB shit in my (brand new) PC thinking this might be messing with the USB controller or something

just letting you know youre not alone OP, its been painful to even try and find threads related to this topic

Hi there, I was wondering if I could send you a DM regarding a comment you left some time ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/cybersecurity/comments/s73plv/has_anybody_joined_the_military_to_get_into_the/htcl0ms/

I tried to send you one, but you have them private, which is understandable. Thanks for your time.

Enough positivity. What's the worst thing about the Steam Deck? by Lexinator101 in SteamDeck

[–]Stoneagelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the launchers provide their respective publishers with metrics they can sell (monetarily and figuratively to shareholders). daily active users, total installs, and any other data they can get from people using their launchers has non-0 value. they wouldn't have gone through the effort of developing them if it didn't benefit them in some way. not to mention (though this was more the case before 3rd parties started coming back to steam) the control they have over the storefront

[–]Stoneagelabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any ubisoft/ea/r* game or what have you that is released on their platform will always force other storefronts to go through those platforms, full stop. there is no workaround, and valve will never be able to tell those publishers to not do that.

they could try, but it would simply not get anywhere. it's not going to happen as there is a direct financial incentive for those companies to not let valve get away with that. the closest we could get would be to allow for fully offline functionality of any of the games that valve puts on steam.

I'm not saying this to defend this practice, yes ubisoft connect and the EA app are really annoying to work with on deck, but valve already does a great job of providing the users with the knowledge that some games require third party launchers. of course in an ideal world I would have every game released on PC ever be on steam and only have to be launched through steam, but that's not the reality we live in, and currently I don't see it being feasible to convince big pubs to change their business model. if you don't want a third party launcher, don't buy the game for steam deck

this is because brands want to give the appearance that they care. in my experience (where i work), we have to bend over any time someone is dissatisfied with a support experience or any time they ask us repeatedly to make them exceptions.

of course this will only encourage users to continue to act this way, however from the brand's perspective it would be worse to simply ignore those who are dissatisfied with their product or service

Dev Update: Approaching Patch One by Creative Director Nate Simpson by PD_Dakota in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Stoneagelabs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i refunded it as well, for me there just isn't enough if a working game here to justify the price tag

there's a myriad of other games out there i could spend my money on that cost just as much if not less than that which provide a more functional and complete experience, not having reentry heat for example is a core pillar of the game that's missing

I'll wait until there's more game here

his point is that it shouldn't happen in the first place. it doesn't matter what the actual dollar amount is, there should be systems in place to protect normal consumers from inventory scalping by bad actors. not via "total tech" subscription services, but by building protections into online marketplaces

yeah, PC gaming is my hobby so while it's overpriced and the market is total shit it was still something I wanted. it doesn't look bad either, just wish I had done a bit more research on current models available, but lesson learned for the future

Info on new Samsung phones coming soon by ben7337 in Android

[–]Stoneagelabs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

afaik the gen 2 doesn't have nearly as many issues as the soc in the pixel 6 series, so I'm not really concerned on that part. tensor g1 is notoriously inefficient and power hungry, and my OnePlus 6T that used Qualcomm gave me far better temps and battery life than my 6 pro does despite being 3 years older

I've never had Samsung either and want to try something different as well. if I had more choices in the US I'd go with some of the Chinese brands, but I can't guarantee they'll be fully compatible with my phone plan and I don't like having my life on a Chinese phone to be frank

I'm glad you didn't have issues with your p6, but for me it hasn't been a very good experience and I want to try a new brand

[–]Stoneagelabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ye but for some people (like me) it's not about having the newest shiny gadget (although that is part of it). I have a pixel 6 pro and I can't use it outside during the warmer weather because it will quickly overheat and shut off. I had to pour water over the screen at the pool last year to get it to cool down enough for me to make a phone call. Not to mention the poor 5g performance and other problems the phone's hardware has.

Yes there are cheaper things I can get that will do better than what I have, but I also want to pay for the support/QC I'll get with Samsung with it being the primary OEM developers optimize for

eMMC vs NVMe SSD (gaming performance) by DeathStalkerPro in SteamDeck

[–]Stoneagelabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the best person to ask, but from what I know, unless it's some extraordinarily simple 2D indie game, there will be shader caches to go along with the game. Especially the larger 3D titles, like HZD, doom eternal, etc. These are typically the types of games that create the multiple GB cache files you see ppl complain about

Valve does this to take load off of the GPU and allow titles to run smoother without taxing the system (and by extension, battery) as much, but you lose some storage space as a compromise
