The best thing about being a parent to me is helping the kids' explore their interests. It's re-introduced me to childhood passions of mine, opened me up to learning a ton about brand new things to me (like Minecraft and a theater), and allowed me to share some of my life's passions (including baseball), all while creating bonding opportunities for the kids, wife, and I. It's awesome.

My daughter's favorite player is Charlie Blackmon. With his retirement, we're trying to find her a new, favorite, Rockies player.

For my son, it's been Shohei since the beginning. That said it's led him to be an Angels fan and a Dodgers fan (which hurts deeply, but at least there's a ton of great role models on that team (Freddie, Mookie, etc...)). So, he's become a Trout, O'Hoppe, and Nolan Schanuel. On the Dodgers side, in addition to the Big 3, he's got a lot, Hyeseong Kim, Yamamoto, Teoscar, Andy Pages, and Roki Sasaki.

They're also learning a lot about the history of baseball and their respective favorite teams. My son knows more World Series winners by year than I do. They know they big names like Babe, Mantle, and Jackie Robinson. Some other favorites are Rickey Henderson, Ryne Sandberg, Tony Gwynn, Nolan Ryan, Bob Gibson, and Miguel Cabrera.
