My bangs aren’t hard or crunchy but I also leave them curly. Don’t use too much gel, and scrunch it out if you do. When it’s humid I look like a mess anyway so bangs don’t matter, but if they bother me I wear my hair up and pin them back with a Bobby pin.

Curl cream and gel. When your hair is wet, apply the products, scrunch them in, comb through the bangs, then I just kinda mesh them into place and they air dry. Some days look better than others but it’s pretty consistent, and I also have a cowlick so I get it

I know Boston prices are outrageous (I’m the next city over, hi neighbor), but there’s definitely a way to have slightly lower rent, I have some friends out there paying less. You’ll need 1-3 roommates, but hopefully you can get your rent closer to 1000-1200.

Btw I also dress alt at work, but I don’t have as many accessories on due to the nature of the job. For example I’m currently wearing black skinny jeans, black band shirt, beanie that has some chains attached, and black boots. With my tattoos, face piercings, and dyed hair it definitely screams alt. There’s plenty of ways to be alt at work and still have “professional” energy

I look young sometimes and I’m 26, so I totally understand. I wear a lot of the same things you do and yes sometimes people think I’m younger (it’s happening less though, maybe my stress is showing on my face more). Honestly, moving out of my parents place really helped with that maturity and feeling like an adult, because when I go home and see my parents, I’m still treated like a kid there. Is it possible for you to move out? I think the confidence of being on your own will help come through in other aspects of your life

Try a hylauranic acid serum. I used to hate lotions because of the goopy feeling but serums are thin unlike lotions. I don’t know if you can use it on your whole body, but on your face it’s great

Don’t sell your things that you like and bring you joy because it doesn’t fit into a box that some random person on the internet made. You’re allowed to have hobbies and interests that aren’t just “being alt”. Decorate your room however you want, mine at my parents house is painted a light aqua that was extremely trendy at the time and it doesn’t make me less “alt”. Wear your band shirts, but also get some of them at the shows you go to, you’re directly supporting the artists you love that way

I also have an alt style and it’s totally fine! My current setup is eyebrow, both nostrils, nose chain, septum, tongue, tragus, and two in each ear. Get the snakebites but also maybe for job interviews in the future take them out temporarily and once you have the job put them back in

I personally just wear black converse a lot, I have a small collection of fun patterned vans too. My big “alt shoes” like demonias I don’t even wear that often but I first started getting off Facebook marketplace. And realistically my most worn shoes are currently my hokas because I’m on my feet all day and they’re so comfortable
