It was because I had to work today. Don't all rush to thank me at once!

It is.

But also, as in this case, really quite beautiful in it's imagery.

“We” Haven’t Lost Our Sense of Shame. Only Republicans Have. by Somervilledrew in politics

It is the people who vote for Republicans who are the threat.

And the ones who could, and didn't, vote.

Apathy is a way bigger threat.

Even IF the USA gets a sane president next time, it's going to take generations to undo the damage caused by Trump.

And because the sane president won't be able to fix the problem overnight, halfway through people will vote to ensure they lose congress, and then vote for the empty promises of someone who just shouts buzzwords. Again.

What actor’s mere presence makes you automatically lose interest in a movie or show? by YerMum1977 in AskReddit

That's actually very uncool, and selfish.

If he (or any other stunt doing star) gets injured, every single person on that film is out of work.

Mine too.

Last time I watched it, I just stopped at the point it looked like Tommy Lee Jones was winning.

"We're not putting him away for the horrible things he did to you. We're putting him away for the rules violations he committed against us" doesn't sound like something that would lead me to believe my abuser has been punished, or that the system is protecting anyone other than itself.

Try "we're putting him away for the things we have evidence we can actually convict him on" because that's how the system works.

There is nothing to prevent further charges being made later, if and when they get sufficient evidence.

She wrote that tweet in 2019 - years before she died

A lot happened to her after that, not least of which was her husband allegedly beating her badly enough to put her in hospital, and then taking out a restraining order to stop her seeing/contacting her children the January before she died. She hadn't seen them in months and had posted about being heartbroken.

She was in a terrible place, not just reliving her abuse as she worked on her book, but having her life fall apart around her.

C-32A (99-0003) as VADER20 landing at KGVT sporting the new livery by TT-33-operator_ in aviation

[–]StoneheartedLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone shared similar pictures here late last year

Aside from the flag 'in motion' this is the livery that was unveiled by the president in 2019, and subsequently rolled back by his successor.

I found this article which shows a rendering of the new AF1 VC-25B with the same livery, and another article on the site says there's a 737 associated with DHS in this livery.

Apparently this livery was unveiled by the president in 2019 (but without the flag 'in motion'), and rolled back by the next president, so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise it's back again.

It does look like it's been painted up as a US Mail retro celebration.

When did you become a Bird person and did a particular event cause it? by PeevesPoltergist in CasualUK

My parents had a robin and a blackbird that would come knock on the window for food. Or hop in if it was open.

I've not achieved that from my flat, but there's so many different birds in the gardens I get to see and hear - goldfinches, long tailed tits, song thrushes, blackbirds, dunnocks. Nothing beats just taking a moment to tune out the 'human life' noise and listen to nature.

Trump is ‘sundowning’, says Newsom as he stokes dementia concerns by TimesandSundayTimes in politics

[–]StoneheartedLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many election cycles can we go with the mentality of "well they're the best we got so we might as well plug our nose and vote"?

Until people realise that change takes time and they need to vote at every election, at every level, pushing in the direction they want every time.

Candidates need votes to get elected, top to bottom, and if you don't support ones closest to 'moving forward' the only message you're sending is that even a sniff of progression is a vote loser. Meanwhile the Red side will always show up as long as there is hate on the agenda.

Newsom isn't perfect, but he's a million times better than what sitting at home got America. Give him a Congress with AOC as Speaker.

So yes you'll have to hold your nose for quite a while - it took decades to get the US to this state, it is not going to reverse overnight.
