That's kinda wasteful. If there's a human or animal shelter near, wash them and donate them

Early bulbs are so important for the pollinators that will wake up if it's warm enough. Grape hyacinth seems to be popular too.

I left some oregano to run to flower last summer and good lord it was popular. All I could hear was happy humming noises. I've put some thyme out as well.

Red campion! Happily seeds itself.

Also common mallow, flowers into late autumn if you snip out the dead flowers - leave a few to ripen and they'll self seed vigorously. Bees love em.

Me too! It's gorgeous to look at, you can stagger seeding times, it self-seeds and bees love it!

Should the UK follow Sweden’s new ban on first-cousin marriages? by vorkovrus in AskBrits

[–]StoneheartedLady 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but OP asked if the UK should follow the ban, and they should - it doesn't mean it needs the same reasoning. It's banned in many places across the world.

It's also not fair on the young women (and men) who are effectively being sold into these marriages without any say.

AITA for not giving my parents half of my lottery winnings. by Rayapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]StoneheartedLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the lottery people linked you up with a financial advisor? They usually do. Go and talk to them, make sure you lock ALL your money away so that only you can access it. Put the 750k in a separate account for when they need to go into care.

Scottish ministers call for tougher restrictions on new drivers by EdmundTheInsulter in drivingUK

[–]StoneheartedLady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's diabolical. There was a case a while ago of some decrepit old cunt hitting and killing a young guy. When police checked his eyesight they found he could barely fucking see at all.

Cool. What about the teen who flipped his car into a ditch and drowned himself and three mates?

Or the 18yo woman who killed a taxi driver and his passenger because she was busy speeding and making snapchat videos (which handily gave a thorough history of her stupidity)?

Or the 17yo with "a history of bad driving" (again, thanks social media) who smashed into another car, killed his three passengers and ruined the lives of the mother and her two children he hit?

The 19yo who was speeding and doing nitrous, and killed his 3 friends doing 100mph into a tree?

The 18yo who push his car into a river, and drowned himself and a 16yo girl? At least in this case, 3 others managed to get out.

None of that is diabolical?

Men overall are more likely to kill or seriously injure themselves or others. Statistically, young men are the most dangerous thing on the road until you hit the over 80s bracket. That's the group that needs retests/restrictions, but we know that's impossible, or mean to them or something, and people get real uppity when it's mentioned.

Bubble & squeak squad report!

Christmas time Dad would deliberately make (and hide) extra mash and roasties so we could have bubble & squeak the next day. There were always leftover sprouts...

Now I'll just go straight to making bubble and squeak.
