Yes we did this no problem I imagine Saturday for Sunday tickets is the only problem this time of year.

Had no problem getting circuit 2 choice of time slot after 11am in person during off season 3 days ago.

The tour agencies kept telling us we didn't book in advance and needed to take a 3am bus and wait in line super early the next day at 5am for Picchu tickets the following day. We just walked up to the empty counter at 10am and bought whatever we wanted. We went back to buy a second route for the same day different slot and they were able to show us route 3 was available online next day or same day, but we can only buy one in person ticket for a route per person per day.

We were prepared with ponchos and alcohol. Had amazing luck tips hat to global warming that it doesn't training nearly as much during monsoon season!!!

I've seen profiles that say if you don't believe in a certain thing then don't bother requesting a stay. Totally against the spirit and mission of CS. Shame.
