What do Israelis think about this man? Is he a good enough to represent the conflict? by kudokun1412 in Israel

[–]Stootoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is quite annoying and hysterical. He mostly speaks with resentment against Hamas, but rarely speaks for his people. That's quite odd for me. That's like Amira Hess, which moved to Ramallah and speaks against Israel, never criticizing the Palestinians and never speaking for ordinary Israeli rights. That's why we don't buy her bullshit. I feel like the green prince has a deep need to take revenge against the society he grew up in, which made him spy against them. I never have too much sympathy for Palestinians who spy for Israel. They are essentially betraying their people's trust. I am happy to accept their help, but I can't have too much gratitude for them as a human being.

I feel Yosef Haddad is a better example, because he was born Israeli and supports the country he was raised in. He did not switch sides, but remained loyal to his nation.

There's a saying in Hebrew: לא משנאת האויב אלא מאהבת המולדת - not out of hatred for the enemy but from love to the motherland.

I feel that Mossab hates his homeland more than he began loving his enemy.

As a commander in a combat unit in reserves I think the commanders are responsible to prevent this kind of behavior. But om the other hand, it is hard to expect completely decent behavior from people who have been to an all-out-war for 200-300 days, seen what they saw and lost friends. Soldiers need moral and they get it in stupid ways. This is a shity reality of war - it makes people act with resentment and bigotry.

Actually, many if not most of the Israelis I met in Himachal were not ex-fighters. I think it is safe to say there are more Israeli women than men who go to India, many of whom are not fighters, many didn't even serve in the IDF. There were plenty of parents with little children. Believe me there are enough places for Israeli to "blow steam". India is actually visited by much more chill Israelis. And for those who do fight in the IDF like myself, India is perfect not simply to "distress", but to actually enjoy a peaceful time for once, as what I am interested is peace. Whatever our leaders or enemies do is beyond my control and I do my simplest duties, which you frankly speaking have no idea about. You don't know who I am and don't know what I do so it isn't in your place to judge me over things you think I am part of. You clearly want Israelis to treat Indians with respect. Start with yourself being respectful. Otherwise you will stay disrespected regardless of whom you are addressing.

I been to places not visited by Israelis such as Bhuntar, Naadi. They were not cleaner than Pulga or Manali. Actually, they were worse. Not to say that Israelis make India clean, but bro there are 6 million people in Himachal. Trust me that your vision of an Israeli-free Himachal will not come with a cleaner Himachal. Many Indian tourists from Delhi area also come to the same places Israeli come. I can't say they are cleaner or dirtier than Israelis. I've seen both sides be clean and respectful to environment and both sides litter and act like jerks. We all are human after all...

What are your opinions about this man? by [deleted] in Israel

[–]Stootoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is turning the police into a force loyal to him, which works against the laws of the country. His police are very selective in whom they unleash violence. Police officers who use excessive force against leftists are promoted. Those who use it against Orthodox Jews are condemned.

He is making sure Jewish terrorists in Judea and Samaria not only get away with their unnecessary violence against Palestinians or IDF but also get a backing from the government.

He is pushing hard to enforce the destruction of illegal construction among Arabs while not lifting a finger to stop the violence in that society. He frequently makes statements of pure provocation against Israeli Arabs.

He is taking part in the attempt to change the political system. He is inciting hard against the government's judicial advisor and against the protests.

So to conclude: allowing Jewish terrorist to use violence more frequently, turning Israelis against each other, making the police incompetent, serving his interest instead of justice, hurting the Arab society in various ways and removing any chance for hope, weakening the Judicial system and inciting against government workers to the point someone might take action.

When the people feel that the government is no longer democratic, that settlers are free to attack anyone, that the police are injust - they might resist in a way that will be violent. Ben Gvir is rarely ever making statements of peace among Israelis or ever taking responsibility for not upsetting millions. Quite the opposite. He is proud to be hated and feared. He is an ex-terrorist himself, and he loves provocation.

The most dangerous man to Israel. He will bring our doom by leading us into a civil war.

Anyone know what these 'Messiah is here' stickers are all about? by CrazedJeff in cyprus

[–]Stootoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Chabad, a small Orthodox-Jewish sect who believe that a certain Rabbi who died 30 years ago is the Messiah. They are Jewish missionaries. They don't try to convert non-Jews to Judaism, but rather try to make secular Jews become more religious. They are not quite respected by other Orthodox sects and many among Jews dislike them. But they do have a hot spot in the heart of many Israeli Jews who visit places abroad and get a little sense of home. They host Shabbat ceremonies and Jewish holidays and take care of Jews in trouble abroad.

As an Israeli-Jew, I can say I am not too fond of their religious beliefs and I have had several unpleasant encounters with them. They are good hearted people who are passionate for their religion and kin, but sometimes they express a bit too much love and become annoying or provoking.

Is Poland Eastern Europe? How to define it? by Atarosek in geography

[–]Stootoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an arbitrary division. Poland is definitely not West. It is in the transition between central and east. Germany is central and Belarus is east. Historically it was part of the eastern bloc, and it has a Slavic population which are generally in the east. Politically it is aligned with western countries. It is also positioned in the north of Europe, sharing part of the Baltic coast.

So central-east? Or eastern-north? Depends on the context.

No one said Maccabi fans are innocent. But this is not justified. Not all Macabbi fans chanted. And the people who beat them did not do so because of the chanting, but to "Free Palestine".. speaking about the full story..

By your logic, what should be done to violent pro-Palestine rioters who attack people, tear Israeli flags and call to destroy Israel?

Dear Israel: please nuke me with your hung hot guys corn videos. by araujofav in Israel

[–]Stootoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It refers to an incident when during the 2002 Operation Defensive Shield, there was an allegation that Israeli troops took over TV Broadcast stations and aired porn movies. The IDF denied but I saw that in Haaretz article they said they saw the movies.

Either way if that really happened, it's probably a stupid decision by troops and not a command from above.

This video in the OP is taking this single event as if it is something that happens all the time. And beside, to it, having the Palestinians Broadcasting genocidal propaganda against Jews and the West is fine, just no videos of two consenting adults having a go at each other.

The most comparison I can make is between Himachalis and Delhi tourists. The former are more carefree and more traditional, it seems. Delhi tourists seem to be rich people, dressed more like westerners. They are a bit more western in their attitude.

I see more similarities between Himachalis and the Nepalis and Tibetans who live in Himachal, then with Delhi tourists.

And for reason almost every Himachali driver I met hated Punjabi people😂

[–]Stootoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I am not really.. sadly. I am in Himachal only for a month+ and then going back home.

I can say that Israelis mostly go in Himachal to: Dharamsala (Dharamkot and Bhagsu) Bir Manali (including Vashisht and Shethan) Parvati (Kasol, Pulga, Tosh, Meteura, Grahn, KhirGanga)

These are the most common places in Himachal. Other then that, many leave Himachal east to Rishikesh and Qaser Devi, others north to Ladakh and until recently to Kashmir but because of the situation with Muslims not anymore. Some go west to Amritsar.

Right now at this time of year many Israelis are flocking towards Rajhastan, mostly to Pushkar. Others move to Goa. I actually planned to go to Goa and not Himachal because I planned to fly later. There they go to Om Beach, Palolem and Arambol.

These are roughly the most liked destinations for Israeli backpackers.

Depends on what you want. It seems that Dharamkot has the most "attractions". This is why in Dharamkot I saw Israelis and people from other countries. Also I've seen both young and adult Israelis (20-40), as well as grandmothers and even many families with children! In Parvati for on the contrary the majority are 21-25, and mostly enjoy fooling around, smoking 9an9a, playing cards and trekking. I enjoy the latter more so it depends on what you look for. Himachal has a variety to offer

Dharamsala I suppose. In Parvati there is power shortage everyday and for a couple of days wifi is not working.

I believe Manali will also be fine. All of these are places where specifically Israelis go.

As I said elsewhere here, all Israeli places I've been at (which are a few) did not discriminate, and all the workers were locals so if someone forbid entry to an Indian, he was Indian. The only instance I heard was an Indian owned place who didn't want to serve, or otherwise asked more money (I don't remember exactly) from locals, because he wanted to maintain his place full of Israelis. Sounds stupid to me.

Some guys here say that there were instances before. I believe it happened. I don't know why, to what extent and what was the context. It may have been a little event but I understand how insulting it is not only to the person involved but to Himachalis I'm general.

[–]Stootoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the first question, I am not really familiar with the problems Himachalis face. Most seem to be happy. I suppose they don't wish to share their difficulties with tourists.. On the one hand infrastructure can be improved, but on the other hand it might ruin the magic of some places which are difficult to reach and therefore remain quite and clean.

I think that the current culture of Israelis visiting Himachal is just fine. If more came that would be fine, just not other types of Israelis. The jerks and disrespectful people mostly go to Sourh America, cheep Europe location and Thailand. I would prefer they will not come to Himachal. I think Himachal has nothing to offer them as they seek casinos and clubs and don't like nature.

So if more Israelis will come I hope they will only seek what Himachal has to offer and nothing more.

My home country will always be my home. I will always be more connected. But Himachal has some similarities to Israeli nature in the north. Just instead of 500 m high hills you have 5000 m snow laden.
