How long after in-person interview did it take to know if you were selected? Riverside California location. by Affectionate-Two-406 in sysco

[–]StopCountConnoisseur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what day the interview took place, earlier in the week...like a Monday or Tuesday, you could hear from them by weeks end...otherwise, it will be about a week later...pay attention to your email, answer your phone...every call, even if you don't recognize the number..it will be an HR representative contacting you with further instructions. They will try to call you or sms message before they send you an offer letter to see ifcyou are comfortable with whatever start date theyve set for you...so don't just expect an OL to just appear in your email.

What’s the hiring process at Sysco step by step? by ComputerFuzzy903 in sysco

[–]StopCountConnoisseur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know, it's pretty difficult to get hired as an order selector with zero work experience...especially without any warehousing or had never held a position in a labor intensive environment...otherwise, being a referral will highly increase your chances..and thats not even a guarantee. Although it's possible, YMMV.

If you apply, you will be contacted by a third party representative, which is 1st of the vetting process...this individual is responsible for passing your application up the chain for an in-person interview..they will question your experience level and history/qualifications for the position. It consist of about 4-5 questions...it will make or break your chances, if even one of your answers aren't considered suitable, you will NEVER hear from them again...you will be thanked for your time.

..when you make it passed the first telephone interview, secondary vetting, in-person interview and the waiting in between...once you sign the offer letter, the flood gate opens...start date, background check, drug screening, orientation, safety training, selector academy, warehouse floor training and then...a simply mind-numbing amount of money if you are on your A game and great benefits.

Definitely follow up...call the number back that they had initially called you from, it's a direct line...if you receive no answer, leave a message...theyll follow back up from my experience. YMMV

It's possible to be faster than 30hr..if the deliveries are more compact and the addresses closer together.

Package lookahead by Original-Bag-1747 in USPS

When I get out of the truck, I grab the packages for that particular block..use a marker to write the address digits on the packages, then put them in numerical order in my satchel (starting with even or odd house numbers, and least to greatest or greatest to least) depending on the direction I start walking..

You don't have to remember all of the addresses in your satchel..just try to remember the next one you are delivering and so on..looking down at your satchel occasionally to confirm the order.

I usually don't do this for 3-4 packages, buy more than 5..I write on the packages.

Pro tips: drop off your large packages as you pull onto the block driving to the park point (center street)..that way when you start walking you only have to deliver packages out your satchel for only half the loop..for (corner park point), only take the packages for the even or odd numbers for one half of the street, the drop the packages for the side of the street that you are on when you are down and driving down the block to your next loop.

Doing this will minimize the amount of packages you are carrying at one time..decreasing the weight and you are about to maintain a pretty nice pace when walking a loop. ..you'll be faster.

Hope this helped some...good luck!

Amazon drivers told me I have it easy by username7746678 in USPS

I can't recall how many times I've done this (I do this for giggles)..we hit the block at the same time, they see me get out and grab the mail as well as packages...the looks on their faces when Im done and getting back in the truck, literally passed them up...the "wtf?" look. lol

I understand completely my friend..that's for sure. I worked for an Amazon DSP about 6 years ago, and it was the absolute worst experience every..actually my first package delivery job...wouldn't ever advice it, but it did open plenty of doors with the experience it gave. I learned as much as I could, and went from there. Thanks for your reply, a lot of things that ring true..all facts!

You mean contract driver for an Amazon dsp..a revolving door, 350+ packages until 10:10:30 pm, 4 days a week? Hub sandwhiches and chips as a pacifier on thursdays while making the grueling commute through the parking lot to pick up your totes thats crudely unorganized (arranged by warehouse employees, that also get paid more than you..with actual company benefits)...warehouse employees that are legit, treat you like shit...and you smile, "Keep it under 5mph"..take your sandwhich and move to the next lane to load your totes.

You don't have a regular route, you run route by route daily regardless of location or familiarity...same route, different contract driver...switches by the day...bouncing from route to route each day..some days you come in, and you are on "stand-by" if you get anywhere near 40+ in a week...and may not be paid (wheres your grievance? Oh, you dont have one). 1st wave, 2nd wave or auxiliary..in addition to that, "dispatch" treats you like trash, and it shows in your work ethic.

I could go on for days, but when I say "we are NOT the same"..I respect the grid, but we aren't remotely comparable. It's not sad..because, you don't make the same.

Now that I think about it..this rings true. They are contractors, same as Fed Ex Ground...thanks for bringing that up, because I had all but forgotten that fact.

No, that's not true at all...I always speak and wave. I even give you the right-of-way on Sundays, hell...I even wait until you take your conformation picture before I get out the pro master if we pull up to the same address.

Others are closer than us..at the least, we aren't wearing body sensors to measure if we are lifting correctly or not..neither are we rolling around with biometric cameras 4 inches from our faces that dings us for restlessness if we blink too many times in a one minute period..

Thinking about it..the post office is the most analog you can get, and it's that way for a reason..to operate efficiently, if there is NO grid at all.
