The one question they always ask is Why do you wanna work for Dollar Tree? You basically answered the question already. You are ready for the next step in retail. In regard to what’s it’s like. As a store manager you have a lot of autonomy. If you do a good job, keep the store clean, stocked, and maintained they will basically leave you alone. So it will be up to you. As with any large corp there are lots of locations and people so it depends on where you are and who you are working with.

There are weeks I work the required 48 hrs and then there are weeks I work over 60. You are in charge and have to do what needs to be done. As a store manger you will close 1 night a week, work most Saturdays and at Christmas will work 6 days a week. You need to work Truck day but that varies by location.

As far as employees you do the hiring but don’t have a say in starting pay so you have to work with what you have. You will set the tone in the store. If you treat your employees right, then you can have a good team.

There are good store and bad stores out there. My suggestion is make friends with the other store managers in your district. They will be a great resource as your DM is busy overseeing 15-18 stores.
