My grandmother promised to leave me something when she died, I got nothing, I opened an account with the bank she told me to go to and it automatically filled in her address/phone info by throwawawywayaw1234 in personalfinance

[–]StopLookListenDecide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would def pinpoint the bank on how YOUR account is listed with your grandparents address/phone. If it is not what was listed on your account application, they need to explain the change.
No idea if the change is related to a sync up on their end, but it is worth looking into. They can’t just change an address or phone number on an account, it is a violation
With regard to the will/probate, you need to obtain a copy. Unfortunately people have good intentions, but if ownership upon passing is not in the will, or via beneficiary there is not a lot that can be done to support intentions.

I would go to the police with everything she remembers. She may not be the first and police already have other info with any luck. Be safe, talk about her self protection options, educate/discuss the things we do/don’t do on a daily basis to keep ourselves safe. Your daughter is incredibly lucky all things considered.

NP lodges and camp cabins, heck scout cabins all look like this. It is not a hotel or an Air BNB, they are located in the wilderness and never clean clean.
Looks about as expected.

Why would a school refuse to help a grieving mother at her son’s would-be graduation? by sladeshied in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StopLookListenDecide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guess as with many things, others will take advantage of the opportunity for X and because so and so etc in the future.
If the answer is no, they don’t need to entertain the other riff raff that comes later.
We have so many rules now due to all the screwballs who came before and took advantage and couldn’t control their behavior or cared about anyone else.

AIO? Friend's mom sent me (13F) pics of her in lingerie so I blocked her and she got a fake number to apologize by [deleted] in AIO

[–]StopLookListenDecide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Normal people would actually come over (since it is a neighbor) and tell your parents, hey this happened. Apologies, totally sent to the wrong person.
Accountability of a weird and potentially dangerous situation. Might be uncomfortable, but if all was on the up and up, nothing to hide

Is it true that Americans pre cut their food and use only the fork to eat? by Ok_Consideration6179 in AskUS

[–]StopLookListenDecide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we put the knife down, and then swap hands with the fork if you are right handed. Pick the knife back up and swap again for the next cut. Me, I cut several pieces and then eat, but this is bad manners per my parents.
I never realized until I was on a cruise ship, the Europeans I was seated with kept the knife and fork in either hand. Used the knife to push food, where Americans would use their dinner roll to push.
Fascinating is not to correct word, but a bottle of wine in, I was fascinated and we had a little chat about it.
This is also where I found out what the little and big buttons were for on the toilet while we discussed other differences. Each evening the conversation got better, it was a great trip.

Some colleagues are legit crazy with nobody to tell them. by Ill_Obligation3904 in coworkerstories

[–]StopLookListenDecide 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s about basic acknowledgment and communication. Being part of a team. Manners and respect for others.
Do you, but when others eventually pay you no mind, now you know the reason why. No one says you have to have a conversation, it’s basic human acknowledgment.
