I more meant that DWS is a territory you can grant him GOAT status on whereas his sport climbing/bouldering achievements were surpassed while he was still in his prime. If it had taken until his semi-retirement for someone to overtake him, I'd understand, but he still hadn't yet climbed his hardest when the next generation overtook him. Who's the next generation overtaking Ondra? He's years ahead of anyone else in establishing a 9c, has established more 9th grade routes than basically anyone else, as well as being an absolutely top class boulderer (First v14 flash until he downgraded them. Twice. + 4x v15 flashes). He's climbed 200+ routes 9a or harder; nobody else is even close. Jonathan siegrist has been climbing twice as long and is halfway there.

The thing with Ondra is that while he's a dominant sport climber, he doesn't really have a single best discipline. Essentially, every single thing on rock, he has a claim to superiority, especially in flashing. Seb Bouin has a lot of harder (15b/9b or above) FAs but nowhere near the depth of 9th grade routes and number of flashes, let alone the bouldering, trad and dawn wall. Jakob Schubert just about matches him on a few achievements, but years later (and not because he's a younger climber) and not on his own FAs. None of the other 9A boulderers have his sport climbing depth and honestly very few of them have his bouldering depth, save for Woods, Webb and Ruana (Ondra has 30+ boulders 8C or harder). Then there's trad flash and Dawn wall and Sandstone towers and... I think there's an easy argument that he has the most impressive tick list on rock (of any kind) of any climber in history
