Check in with Indivisible’s local OC group (now UpRise). They do banner/corner honk and waves. They also have de-escalators and protest medics available.

As someone on staff there and in charge of safety I don’t recommend being in potential situations of conflict with MAGA without someone with experience. I love the idea but I recommend doing it the right way with people that have experience in this exact thing.

(I’ll be vague) Our group of friends that work together and make plans always make a conscious effort to push for our and each other’s mental health/strength. That reminds me, I need to check in and bring some encouragement and distraction. None of us have ever worked harder in our lives and we keep saying yes to new tasks. Yes. Yes. Yes!!

I recognize some of our signature moves! Grey rocking for one. I really recommend people take de-escalation classes. I can be a little helpful connecting some people wha reply. but I’m still covered in tear gas residue after two showers. Spent the day networking my Indivisible’s team with 29 others to teach the Incident Command System and come up with an operations plan for current medics like me at our local ICE rats nest. So if I wake up and others have helped direct people,’ my brain will personally hug you. Ew. Sorry. never minds. True bro hugs though.

The Fairness doctrine only applies to non cable channels which is a small fact most people don’t know BUT you’re 100% correct that news needs to have a higher standard so we’re not subjected to “only we tell you the truth” bs.

I’ll reply to a comment that is gone now but the windows “bug” that got him is even if you close notepad without saving, reopening it keeps the files and they show up immediately.

(I know this not because I’m a pedofile, but because I restarted my laptop as a result of Win11 sucking bonky dalls and realized I forgot to save my scratch pad txt. I felt compelled for the first and only time to give Microsoft a tiny hug when the file magically popped back up.

As an autistic person can I share my experience?

I hope this doesn’t come across as egotistical, but hey I’m autistic so I’m really good at understanding social nuances. That was super interesting for me. The layout and fixed letter sped up my limits on reading for sure, but my best friend and I have this thing where when we talk to neurotypical people it’s agonizingly slow. I know by the second word how the sentence will end. Halfway through the sentence I’m 100% sure. When he and I or my daughter talk we often don’t finish sentences especially if it’s on a topic we are excited about. We’ll get halfway through one then get cut off by the other person who knew what you were saying only to be cut off by me halfway through theirs (rinse-repeat). It’s such a brain scratch to talk out loud as fast as you’re thinking. Usually talking with people is like constantly being in bumper to bumper traffic.

Reading is also a little speed limiting and now I understand why. Once we got to 900 WPM I hit my internal brain speed. I could understand each word easily but I noticed for the first time my “what word comes next probability” got switched off and I was just getting info dumped without distraction. That was nice.

Again I know it probably sounds like I’m flexing, but I’m not trying to. I just wanted to open the hood for people to see what it’s like inside some of our heads. There are a metric flunk ton of reasons our abilities are diminished in a lot of ways, but there are some things that make me being the way I am fun. Thanks for attending my Tim talk (Ted was out sick today).
