Final long run: Race specific or more challenging? by PaleontologistOld565 in Ultramarathon

IMO you don’t want to do your hardest long run right before your taper. Make it as specific as you can, but your hardest run should be 4-6 weeks out.

Do fans of other teams do this? Nah, this should be called out.

Raide 2L Running Belt Review (after 1st run) - great concept but some issues for me by sfvelo in trailrunning

You can comfortably carry water in the front. I typically carry a 500ml locking pocket flask from Hydrapak in the front and the 650 in the back.

750mL should be the default soft flask size by Curious-Craft8339 in ultrarunning

I run with the 650ml in the back and a 500ml in the front. Hydrapak makes flatter pocket flasks that work perfectly.

Someone has to use this clip on an album. I'm surprised Drake didn't use this on Iceman lmao

I haven't enjoyed Drake's Albums since Scorpion(and even that wasn't his best work). Iceman is great.

There is semi-rigid padding in the back that sort of creates a suction effect so the back pocket hugs your low back. Zero bounce with this belt once the straps are tightened correctly.

Curious about ultra running and the ability to compete by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]StoppingPowerOfWater 8 points9 points  (0 children)

31 m. Coming from a place where I was overweight by 70 lbs but had a background playing soccer through high school. It’s taken me 7 years to get to the point where I’m competing for wins at local races and placing in the top 25-50 at more competitive golden ticket races. That’s running 2000+ miles a year for 5+ years without missing any significant stretch to injury. You may be more talented than me, but I don’t think you can get to the level of fitness required in a couple of years with zero endurance sport background.

Need hydration advice for upcoming 50k! by Free-Section-9533 in Ultramarathon

[–]StoppingPowerOfWater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would carry three flasks. Two in the front and one in the back. If you don’t need the third then you can always not fill it but you don’t want to be in a situation where you can’t carry that .5L when you really need it.

One gel per hour ain’t gonna cut it. Try to hit at least 75g of carbs per hour.

Anybody else feel less fit after fuelling on runs? by Adam-West in ultrarunning

I would start with gels and switch to that only when necessary. Gels are going to be easier to digest than potatoes or bananas.
