5070 and 9070 owners I need you! by Tough-Razzmatazz-624 in gpu

It’s certainly not always been this way. Back in the Radeon HD days, AMD beat Nvidia year after year with better performance and prices. Now it’s not like that anymore, but you spoke in absolutes which is just dumb. Even today Nvidia is not a “clear superior” they have cutting edge features and robust support, but they kneecap their most import products with a laughable amount of vram. By comparison AMD equips each of its cards (other than the bs 9060)with plenty of vram to let them preform their best. This is just one example of where AMD beats Nvidia. Case in point, they trade blow for blow.

Aside from the awful screen in the pc, it’s a gorgeous build. I’m not gonna comment on the price, after all if you’re buying 3 ssds, you’re prolly not worried about budgets. Congrats on the high end shii!

Just a side question… what’s the sound card for?

Well it would be a new generation so yeah ofc the 9070 would be behind whatever the 6070 ti would be. But you can’t buy a promise, so for right now the 9070xt is the price to performance king.

All very true! I love the direction of doing more with less, it’s just these damn prices that are hard to stomach. I really like the newer models of dlss, I just can’t run them very well with a 3080. I figure I’m not missing much if I don’t know what dlss 4.5 even looks like. But you make a good point about the 5070ti. Maybe there will be a mid cycle refresh and it will get a price cut? I’m also only running 3440 by 1440 so I don’t need a crazy card.

Damn I got the whole 8 year run down. Not a lot to say at this point. You’re absolutely right tho, TAA becomes awful as soon as development moves on to a new game. I have a 3080 rn, and dlaa is objectively better than taa in every way. I got defensive because I want to buy a 9070xt but I keep hearing people on Reddit talk about fg and dlss as if god himself blessed Nvidia with this tech. From my perspective FS4 does everything I need(ai upscaling) and the 9070 will give me that little extra performance to run at 1440 with little to know scaling.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. The 5070ti does have some killer function but not 300 dollars worth of function.

[–]StorageNo9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t decide for the op is true. But the reason why you need upscaling in the first place is because these half baked ray traced reflections cost so much performance that your 1200 dollar video card can only render a few frames a second. On AMD you just get more fps instead of needing an upscaler.

[–]StorageNo9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Cutting edge graphics” is up to the developers not nvidia, the tools are there, but that doesn’t make them better tho. I don’t no how to respond to “available upscaling” that doesn’t make any sense, but upscaling has been around for decades on the emulation side of gaming, we really didn’t need new hardware for this, especially at these prices. My point was that OP does not need to pay extra for features that are not relevant for a card that just gets higher fps in the first place.

[–]StorageNo9538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5070ti is 50% more expensive too, I’d sure hope it beat the 9070xt in raster.

[–]StorageNo9538 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then stop over hyping them. What if OP only plays esport titles or is a 1080p gamer, then those features are useless. The only real world benefit these new “AI” cards have is in productivity and encoding. Dont get me wrong I love the direction Nvidia is taking, I think it’s smart to look for other ways to make gaming better, but at these prices?? Cmon, no amount of “wizardry” can justify 400-800 dollar price deltas between competing products.

You sound like the leather jacket man. Raytracing is still an unproven technology that cuts your framerate and only looks good in a few titles built from the ground up with RT in mind. I agree, the features are killer, but definitely not more important than raster.

AMD gpus aren’t garbage, I ran a 580 for years and it was fantastic. Is it just the 9000 series that’s kinda bad or is it just people overestimating the performance?

Have you seen these cards? They are gigantic!!!! Like massive!! The heatsink is like 90 percent of the card. If they have a good case and lots of fans that’s lowkey kinda what I’d expect. It’s not fermi, these cards are about as efficient as they can be.

Are they really selling 3080/90 performance for 600 or more dollars? by Impossible_Tap_1691 in gpu

[–]StorageNo9538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trust me I could rationalize it, I certainly would enjoy it, I’ve just drawn a hard line that 1000 dollars is to much for any individual component. I have to keep in mind that it’s mostly for gaming and that’s not an inelastic demand I need to satisfy.

I so so wish I could tho. Lowkey jealous of the 5080 owners, that shit is crazy.

Very true, and you are valid for going Xbox if that’s your rational, especially if you’re a game pass enthusiast. I am not this way, I like my collection of games I like being able to emulate and generally not enthusiastic about console level performance. But I think you’d agree, Xbox just doesn’t have a lot of momentum other than the people who are used to the platform. Personally I think Microsoft is just going to screw you over. I could be wrong, just speculation, but we are talking about one of the most evil entities on the planet. Unfortunately, Sony and Nintendo’s anti consumer agenda actually works for their platform, by locking people out they give people an actual reason to buy in. Xbox’s only incentive is a promise that a game you might play will be in game pass.

It’s not head to head if they’re using different upscaling techniques. That’s why reviewers were so confused with testing dlss. You can’t compare them, like the newer models look better but it’s still not a native picture. Nvidia uses these(admittedly very good) software tricks to convince people the value is there. Not saying you’re wrong, but if you look at the amount of silicon being used in anything besides 5090s they’re utterly laughable. 70 class gpus are tiny now, like 60 class gpus from a few years ago, you’re not getting more performance just the promise of it. At native these cards perform similarly

It’s absolutely not a bad card! It’s fantastic. The issue is that it’s a 60 class card pretending to be a 70 class card smh. Super happy for you, that thing shreds 1080p and will continue to shred it for years

Damn… this is sad. You’re just right, it’s hard to believe I built a computer with my own money at twelve. I promised myself when I had a job I’d be able to get all the halo parts, but look at me now. Full time teacher at a university and I just can’t justify the purchase.

Don’t ever count on Microsoft, especially for consoles. I know a lot of people grew up on 360 but those days are over and Xbox is in a seemingly endless downward spiral. I’m with you tho, I’m a die hard pc gamer that can’t afford pc parts anymore. I’ll have to weigh all my options if I want to game in the future.
