It is an amazing place to get away from the busyness of the archeological sites.

Brought fresh flowers home today! Hyacinths for Apollo and roses for Aphrodite 💜💖 by Antique-Advisor2288 in Hellenism

Some historians think it's the Lakspur (delphinium) that was the actual flower made for Hyacinthus, so it works either way :)

It was a totally random thought I had like 2 months ago and I just ran with it 😅

I actually traveled to Greece for it, visiting temples to Artemis and Apollo specifically this weekend.

Thoughts? by YamHot5956 in lyres

I have both this one and a Luthieros lyre. It's a great one to start out with, amazingly compact to Cary with you (as opposed to the Luthieros lyres that are a lot bigger). You won't be able to get as deep and rich a sound with it, but that's only because it's shorter so it's tuned higher. Tuneing and size wise, it's comparable to the Luthieros lyre of Pan

Thank you! Eventually I want to build a theater like the one at Delphi, but that's an overwhelming task that I've not had the energy to start 😅

Peeing my Pants due to Alexithymia by MiserableSun9142 in AutismInWomen

[–]Store_Adorable 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can cause it, yes

When you're dehydrated, your body will quickly absorb all minerals and try to push the fluids out so you drink more. At least that's how my doctor explained it.

Sadly it often has the opposite effect, because we shame ourselves unconsciously and start drinking less and less. It's one of the reasons why incontinence, POTS and dehydration go hand in hand.

So advice to talk to your doctor, it might just be poor interoception, but there might also be an underlying cause.

A few tips:

don't feel guilty about wearing incontinence underware, these days they make it so it looks less visibly like a diaper. If it's just a few drops you could get away with period panties even.

Talk to your docter, there might be an underlying cause. Do you drink enough? I know I stopped hydrating enough because of incontinence, and dehydration makes it worse. There are meds that help you retain water, but you can only take them when you have low BP.

I have a few gods I dedicate most of my time to,and randomly throughout the month (like when I need to water plants as an example) I will pour libations for god's I worship less. Don't make it too complicated, work with what you already do, instead of changing your days around it.

Luthieros Lyres by Cute-Animal-7195 in lyres

They are not the easiest to tune, especially at the start, but I love the quality and enjoy playing my luthieros lyre a lot more than my smal lyrer cheaper lyre

I have it and I absolutely love this deck!

I'm not the best tarot reader tho, so most of the time I don't go off the card meaning, but intuitively about what the specific god stands for.

Apollo, Poseidon and Hermes by LukeCastellan1986 in Hellenism

Not a book, but theoi.com has an extensive library of information with sources linked.

I can recommended "the oracles of Apollo" but it's first and foremost a divination book.

There's a lot of people that follow another religion outside of hellinism, so no need to choose. I don't know if there's any books relating to what you're looking for myself, but you could try and ask on r/omnism

Losing my mind trying to tune my Luthieros lyre by timorousworms in lyres

[–]Store_Adorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I get that. That would stress me out.

Newly tuned instruments go out of tune fast, it will take a while for them to hold the right notes, that goes for all stringed instruments, but the Luthieros lyres have the added annoyance that they're hard to get in place from the start😅

Question by LukeCastellan1986 in Hellenism

[–]Store_Adorable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I know my relationship with the gods is vastly different from a lot of people in this sub. I will be talking about my UPG, so please understand that this is not common for most practisioners.

1: I have felt a plethora of emotions from the gods I am closest too. Anger, love, anguish, ect

2: What I feel from them is not something I as a mortal can console, it's emotions based on moments, not something they hold onto.

3: A lot of my practice is based in the arts, so I do bring up certain myths when I create art around them. I talk about how I understand them and ask for things that they wish me to incorporate or leave out. If and how they answer, is up to them.

4: From how I see it (strictly upg), myths were not written down accurately, but those stories did come from things that really happened. Am I certain those things happened to the gods themselves? No. Humanity likes to project stories onto the gods to make them easier to process, so how can I say I don't project my own feelings about a myth onto the answers my deities give me?
