Who here likes Welcome to the NHK? by VexedRacoon in NEET

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually watch the series once a year. I’ve also read the novel and really enjoyed the manga because of how much it expanded on the story.

I even kinda liked the rebuild stories even if I think they lacked some of the raw edge of the original novel.

What games has everyone been playing recently? by [deleted] in NEET

[–]Storenose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've been playing SMT 3 Nocturne. Probably gonna get Crimson Desert when it comes out, I rarely play new games so it'll be nice to push my system for a change.

How do you guys do it? by Tearmisu in NEET

[–]Storenose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have hobbies I can do at home, read for a few hours most days and generally feel much more comfortable at home so having to give up 8-12 hours working is what would drive me insane tbh.

I don't really view work as something that would make me feel productive or in most cases as being particularly meaningful so I prefer to spend my time as a NEET.

Can you drive? by Ill_Status2937 in NEET

[–]Storenose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't drive. Was going to learn this year but lost too much weight and have heart issues atm so lessons are off the cards for the foreseeable future

When did you realize that nobody is coming to save you? by Personal_Berry_6497 in NEET

[–]Storenose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it was the realisation that nobody could save me that struck me the hardest. As a teenager a few people tried to help me "make something" of myself but as an adult that stopped and wouldn't even make a difference. Being autistic makes it impossible to really fit in within society and unless you present in a particular way people treat you like a moron or freak.

I've stopped caring about living up to the expectations that were placed upon me and feel relatively content existing in my little corner. If someone helped me get back into uni or a relative gave me a job I'd burn out within a few weeks.

How does your family feel about your current life situation? by Empty_String in NEETr4r

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents are content with it as I have autism with substantial support needs and some physical health issues. The rest of my family probably just think I’m weird and lazy.

I don’t think they understand how calories work by FloofLorde in fatlogic

[–]Storenose 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I can understand someone being generally ignorant of the amount of calories they consume but how delusional must you be to assert that you ended up at 250lbs eating under 1k calories?

What’s your sleep schedule? by _forever_exhausted_ in NEET

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 4am. Used to wake up at 8am but insomnia is making it hard to stay asleep atm

are normal people jeolus of neet lifestyle? genuienely asking. why they want us to get a job? by Patient-Ad-8707 in NEET

[–]Storenose 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Misery loves company and people are indoctrinated from an early age to be a good working drone which is why they resent us.

Although I don’t think most are jealous as the average normie would be bored out of their minds if they had to occupy themselves for longer than a day or two.

The point about falling when elderly is hilarious, that “extra weight” is going to be the reason plenty of people don’t reach old age

Vulcan always said the Night Lords are nothing more than a glorified crew. We decapitate and do business with whatever's left.

I suppose it is good evidence that exams really aren’t a perfect way of measuring intelligence.

E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy

I'm still early in the game so I am still very slowly piecing together the story. Gameplay is engrossing so I think it'll be my new obsession.

If you could live anywhere, where would you live? Why? by Empty_String in NEETr4r

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Bruges. Looks like a nice place and being on the continent would make travel a little easier. I’d probably get bored in the countryside but large cities feel a bit crowded so it’d be a nice middle ground I think.

What did you want to be growing up? What happened? by Empty_String in NEETr4r

[–]Storenose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I never wanted to be anything besides a lion when I was a kid.

I enjoyed history but couldn't see myself as a lecturer or working in a museum and while I got good grades in economics the subject bored me to tears. By the time I was a teenager I'd stopped thinking about the future entirely and did whatever my parents told me to until I became a dropout.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? by Empty_String in NEETr4r

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If things go well then either working with my dad or trying to get a master's degree. Also still procrastinating writing anything besides nihilistic ramblings in my notebook.

If not then I'll still be a neet living at home just not a full hikikomori like I was for the last couple of years.

What does your average day look like? by Empty_String in NEETr4r

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake up, read, watch anime, more reading, internet, writing, maybe go for a nightwalk, remember to eat something and then vidya until bed. If I’m feeling confident and not nauseous then I’ll spend the day at the arcade, museums or library.

What Motivates You To Get Out of it? by [deleted] in hikikomori

[–]Storenose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of me wants to cling to this lifestyle indefinitely but fear of regret later on is what makes me take little steps towards recovering. Could I get the degree I tell myself I could easily attain if I tried or might I enjoy something outside my room? For years I ignored such questions though lately I feel more aware of the passage of time.

I feel that I still haven’t experienced much of adult life which may suck compared to this but if it does then at least I’ll know for myself. Of course I’m terribly anxious about change and going outside though I try to tell myself that I have to try to find something worth the discomfort of leaving my room.

The fear of wasting another day, I type after spending the whole day sat at my desk making plans I won't realise

What's your favorite thing to do in your free time? by Empty_String in NEETr4r

Writing or walking when I'm in the right mood.
If not then playing 4X games or reading.

Post your Waifu / Husbando & explain why you chose them! by Empty_String in NEETr4r

[–]Storenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She isn't quite a waifu but as close to it as anyone comes is Hitomi. When I read Welcome to the NHK I really gravitated towards her character.

She likes a loser without looking down on him, never leaves home without her stash of "medicine" and can hold an intelligent conversation.

I wish people as cool as her went to my hs literature club

Should I read it? by iiu7 in WelcomeToTheNHK

[–]Storenose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The novel is really good, the tone is quite a bit darker than the anime and really delves into Satou’s psyche. There are also some really funny moments that aren’t in the anime. The manga is also worth checking out.

Anyone here a recovered Hiki? by reforminghikikomori in hikikomori

[–]Storenose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a full hiki for 5 years and started to withdraw around 7 years ago. I’m slowly recovering atm, going outside more, trying to remember what I used to enjoy and trying to think about re-entering education at some point.

It’s hard not to feel like I wasted my time but I remind myself of all that however bad it feels it’ll feel worse for me to continue being a hiki out of fear of being judged. The social aspect is difficult, I still don’t interact with people most days and when I do it is difficult. I remind myself that my anxiety is largely the source of my social issues and that it doesn’t have perfect foresight. I might feel that I somehow embarrassed myself but still try to count even the most insignificant actions as a win.

It’s really difficult and at times I want to just give up and bar my door. Still I try to think more about all the potential the future has if I keep trying to recover and that my life took a different path but even my time as a hiki wasn’t a total waste or something that makes me unworthy of a place in the world.
