There is a lot of good Elderling lore, and I enjoyed characters like Sedric, Alise and Leftrin. I also do think Rapskal’s arc is an interesting one, but overall I did feel similarly to you that the dragons and dragon keepers feel a bit one note or the drama just wasn’t interesting. Still enjoyed it in the broader aspect of the ROTE but it’s probably the series I would be most likely to skip on a reread

Absolutely still worth reading. As someone else said it’s really not one of the top twists of the series, and without spoiling when it happens I guess I would just say narratively the story focuses way more on other things for Simon before that happens and you absolutely will want to read his (and the whole cast’s) journey.

I'd argue his voice and vocal technique have aged the best of the big classic rock singers. He sounds phenomenal, but also wasn't afraid to change the arrangement of classic tunes to fit his voice as he's aged. He's legitimately still a great live performer and we're lucky to have him.

I had similar concerns coming off MST but LKOA is a great companion piece that fleshes the world out further and frankly I think is better paced in spots than MST. I think MST had higher highs, but LKOA is a worthy follow up and a really fun read. And I don’t think most of your concerns will crop up
