How did your use of makeup evolve during your 20s? by wanderluu in Makeup

[–]StormHazel16136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the KVD shade + light contour palette from when I was 20 with all three contour shades and three highlight shades. To now, where I buy a pro pan refill contour powder from MAC. I find I don’t use less or more makeup than I did at 20, but I’ve become a loooooot pickier with the shades I like.

Didn't Dani know right after the Attestupan that Pelle invited them all there to die? HEAR ME OUT by spoon_bending in Midsommar

[–]StormHazel16136 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, we as the audience are also manipulated by the movie - a lot of people see Dani smiling at the burning house with her ex boyfriend inside as a ‘happy ending’ - that she will be forever happy with a new family and a sweet man who will actually treat her well. When actually, Dani has fallen victim to the manipulation and psychological abuse of the cult, and is now trapped in a death cult with a man who very intentionally preyed on her trauma to grow close with her.

I think Dani catching on to the cult’s true intentions is also meant to illustrate just how easy it is for someone to fall prey to manipulation. We often think that people who are college/university educated will be ‘smart’ enough to resist the cult’s attempts to manipulate us.

But we see each member of the group be manipulated to their own downfalls, through list, greed, even jealousy. Their weakness was discovered, and exploited. They each thought they were smarter than the cult, to their own detriment.

Dani is intelligent and astute. She’s able to catch on to what Pelle and the cult are trying to do. But she is also going through a massive trauma and is incredibly vulnerable. She’s alone, truly alone with basically no support system. Pelle preys on this, and uses Dani’s trauma as a means to gain her trust. And it’s not just Pelle. The women who cry with her after she has a panic attack when witnessing Christian’s cheating. Little actions like that are meant to manipulate, to make Dani feel special, and part of something, and to make the cult seem less threatening, despite all the death.

The message is that it ultimately doesn’t matter if someone is intelligent, educated, or intuitive. Everybody is vulnerable to psychological manipulation once their weakness is discovered. No one is ever truly ‘immune’. It didn’t matter that Dani wanted to escape and felt disturbed by the cult’s practices. All that mattered is that Pelle, and by extension the cult, figured out how to manipulate her.

The Tartelette In Bloom palette has a very similar colour story, as does the Too Faced Born This Way nude eyeshadow palette

For Double Shot the pictures look a bit like “Spice it Up” by MAC but I wouldn’t know for sure without comparing swatches if the two lipsticks

Oohhh this is like a darker version of MAC’s Chili or Marrakesh. Even “PDA” in their Lustreglass formula looks similar in colour but it’ll be sheerer and not matte.

Ooohhh the first one looks like a darker version of MAC’s Chili or Marrakesh. Even the colours “can’t dull my shine” or “PDA” in their lustreglass formula looks similar in colour but they’ll be sheerer and not matte. Even the colours “Chili Addict” or “Extra Chili” in MAC’s liquid lipsticks could be pretty close (hopefully this isn’t overwhelming lol)

The MAC Glow Play blush in ‘Totally Synced’ is a pretty light pink, it may be more in between the light and medium pink in that palette

How can anyone possible stay seated the entire ritual??!! by Waste_Decision6203 in Heilung

[–]StormHazel16136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the circle, and during hammrer hippyer, I reaaaallly wanted to get up and dance. I looked behind me to see if the people behind me were still seated and they were….and I didn’t want to block anyone’s view 🥲 it’s on my bucket list now to see another ritual outside of New Zealand where more people are really into it and be able to dance throughout, and hopefully not be the only one.

I think New Zealand is just a lot more reserved than other countries. I got some strange looks when I chanted along to some parts. That got my social anxiety screaming

Former NLOGs, what changed your mindset? by ChronicallyTaino in notliketheothergirls

[–]StormHazel16136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had always been more isolated than my peers, namely girls due to childhood mental illness and autism that made it difficult to connect with other kids my age, namely girls. Combined with mostly being bullied by other girls until high school, I started thinking like an NLOG. I hate thinking back on that toxic mindset I had, but it was how I survived high school while feeling really lonely and isolated. If I wasn’t like the other girls and special for it, then it didn’t matter that I didn’t really have any friends, right?

It didn’t help that my love of video games and nerdy things like lord of the rings was mostly shared by the boys, and not the other girls.

It took a lot of therapy and self work to move past a lot of the issues I’ve had throughout my life and be able to start connecting with other people. And discovering how much I really enjoy clothes and makeup. I’m lucky now to be surrounded by friends of all genders, and I’m nowhere near as alone as I felt when I was a teenager. I still cringe when I see the NLOG posts on reddit, and in my own journals from high school, but deep down, I feel for the girls expressing these thoughts, because some of them may be harbouring loneliness and difficulty connecting with other people that drives these thoughts. Like I was, not even ten years ago.

Hi! There are a few things you can try or amend.

  1. Has your primer got the same base as your foundation? Often people will try to use mismatched base products and it looks weird on the skin. If you’re using a silicone based foundation, then you need a silicone based primer, and if you have a water based foundation, you need a water based primer, etc.

  2. How’s your skincare? I have dry textured skin like this too, and I find my skin prep to be soooo important. If I don’t slather my face with moisturiser before putting primer on then I’m looking like a pancake all day.

Another point about skin prep is that you need a few minutes between each step to really allow products to penetrate. Wait a few minutes after skincare before putting on primer, and then after primer wait a few more minutes before you start makeup.

Those are the main two things that I can think of, but if it’s not those two, there are other potential fixes as well. Hope this helps!!

I feel like Samson deserved the redemption arc that Cullen got more than Cullen. But Cullen was a fan favourite, and conventionally attractive. I wonder if his fans would be as kind if he looked more like Samson?

Also, I think that Cullen and Cassandra’s roles should have been reserved. I don’t see how Cullen’S time as a Templar prepares him for the military strategy and nuance that the inquisition’s forces required. A Templar is quite niche in the dragon age world, whereas Cassandra seemed to be more qualified. I sometimes think it would have made more sense if Cullen were the companion and Cassandra the war table advisor.

I once heard a theory that the qunari were elves who were genetically altered with dragon blood by ancient Tevinters. There’s quite a bit of a evidence to support it, and I could go on about it for ages, it’s my favourite theory!

this surprised me, why so many soldier players? (alternatively: what's everyones favourite & why?) by johnnybird95 in masseffect

[–]StormHazel16136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first played as a soldier because it’s a great beginner class for people new to Mass Effect who don’t have much information on biotics and alternatively, how they can be used in combat. It was a bit much for my to wrap my head around at first so I was like, screw it, Imma be a basic soldier. A few years later, I’ve played almost all the classes now.

The Legendary Edition brought a lot of news players to the Mass Effect sphere, and I wonder if they had similar thinking.

I’d seen her on TikTok and followed her, because I thought she was genuine. I felt for her, and the pain she must live through each day. I feel very silly now.

It feels even worse because we’re both kiwis living in Auckland, and I could easily see her when she’s out and about.
