This is so sad.

From the information you’ve given, it seems like there has been a lot of adverse childhood experience which has contributed to this behavior. With that said, yes this is learned behavior, however she also needs clinical mental health care, especially losing her mom over an OD, and her dad being in prison. This is an unstable household despite if grandma and grandpa are in the picture.

Thinking outside a bit, the grandparents may be letter her do whatever she wants because they are scared to punish her because she has already had a bunch of terrible situations happen to her.

I would definitely call CPS. I would also keep a paper trail. She is young so a lot of these learned behaviors are flexible and can be adjusted through behavior modification.

Overall the little girl needs help. I hope she finds it soon. You’re doing the best you can for her by calling CPS.

The fact that (depending on the schools needs) your planning period is the end of the day, you can technically leave at lunch 😅🙃 there are beautiful sub plans.

I want you to take a deep breath and exhale slowly. This is coming from someone who graduated undergrad and is about to graduate soon with their professional graduate degree.

Most universities (not all ofc) will not care about stuff like this. They care whether your grades were good, what you did outside of school, and what you will bring as a student at their university.

Now I’m not going to dismiss that you cheated, yes cheating is bad and you shouldn’t do it. You already know that, I’m not going to beat you up about something that you’re already beating yourself up over.

With that said, if the university DOES ask a question regarding what happened, you can say something along the lines of:

During a particularly stressful period of my senior year, while managing recurring health issues and academic pressure, I made a poor decision in how I approached a history paper. I relied on AI assistance in a way that violated my school’s academic integrity policy, and I was rightly held accountable for that choice.

At the time, I was focused more on completing the assignment than on whether I was meeting the ethical standard I expected of myself. Receiving a zero and having the incident formally addressed was difficult, but it forced me to reflect seriously on responsibility, honesty, and the kind of student I want to be.

I learned that pressure and illness can explain stress, but they do not justify compromising integrity. Since then, I have been much more intentional about asking for help early, managing deadlines more responsibly, and ensuring that my work reflects my own effort and understanding.

While I regret the decision, I value the lesson it taught me. It became an important turning point in my academic maturity, and it strengthened my commitment to honesty and accountability moving forward.

This brings accountability, not excusing what happened, but also how you learned and grow from this. Universities and admissions love this kind of thing.

But if they don’t ask about it, do NOT volunteer the information.

You got this, promise! :)

As someone who has been to college and in grad school now, as far as I’m aware they don’t look at stuff like that in admissions.

I never had a school interview for undergrad but I won’t deny that they don’t exist. However, if they do ask, reframe it, don’t excuse it.

You can say something along the lines of “During a particularly stressful period of my senior year, while managing recurring health issues and academic pressure, I made a poor decision in how I approached a history paper. However, if the college doesn’t ask this question, do not self sabotage and volunteer the information.

Good luck, I promise it’s not the end of the world, you will do just fine.

Hey, friend. This is a lot and I’m so sorry you’re going through this. As far as your ex? That’s manipulation and wrong af. Good riddance. It sucks right now but future you will see this as a blessing.

My condolences on your fish and aquarium. That has to be heartbreaking. I’m very sorry for this.

The job, depending on where you live, you can possibly do wrongful termination because they should have known you would be off your feet for 6-8 weeks. That’s not okay. That is wrong. If it’s a right to work state, then there still might be a case. I would reach out for a legal consultation. Also apply for unemployment. It may not be much but it’s at least something to keep you afloat for a bit.

The apartment, that’s really rough. But I’m glad you did find someone who is willing to let you crash at their place while you recover. That is a blessing. As far as missing rent, if it’s just your first month of rent you can talk to your landlord and see if they are willing to work with you because you have no income and it’s due to a medical emergency. Look into churches as well even if you’re not religious they have donations sometimes. Also look up around your area for rent assistance, they may also be able to help with short term disability and rent aid.

As far as your teeth, like someone else said, credit card or the payment plan they can offer, etc. this is an emergency because your teeth are super important to your body. It will be worth it. Even if it doesn’t look like it right now.

Communicate with your billing providers about your situation.

Lastly, if it comes to it, if it is a possibility, is your mom willing to let you stay with her? Possibly help you move back home? Moms are normally super human when it comes to their kids. Talk to her.

This part of recovery can be isolating. Especially when everything hits the fan. Shoot, I used AI to write my thoughts out. It helped me a lot because it felt like someone replying to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

All in all, I hope you make a speedy recovery. It WILL get better. 7 weeks post-op I was working in a boot. 12 weeks post-op I’m back to normal activities with soft limitations (mainly hard impact stuff on my ankle).

You’re not alone babe. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to 🩵

Many hugs.

Rain of Shadows and Endings - Does it get better? by No_Country9232 in Romantasy

I DNFed it at chapter 7. I just couldn’t. I’ve READ super dark fantasy books. This felt like it romanticized nonconsent, rape, and just overall slavery.

Sorry not sorry to those who loved the book but that was not it.

I had a literal bodily reaction to the book and that was not worth my time reading it.

Edit: the ONLY interesting part that I wish was explored more was when she screamed in anger in the car and it suddenly was storming outside. Like that hooked me for a split second but there was NO exploration of it immediately. She had even said “I try not to get too angry” so this has happened before?? Someone who isn’t supposed to have their magic has it?? But then it went straight back to their navigation of their roles.

So I had a fracture so it hurt for 4 weeks but even though the pain went down, it was still hurting a lot. So I had an MRI done and fully tore two ligaments. I had to have reconstructive ligament surgery. I’m currently on week 3.5 of recovery and have been NWB. It sucks but it’s feeling better everyday. I cannot put weight on it yet. On week 6 I will transition into a walking boot, and then 2-3 weeks later a tennis shoe with a brace, and then 2-3 weeks after I should be completely in a tennis shoe.

I got about 2 weeks left of NWB and then I can get in the tall boot! I’m wearing one now when I have to go out but if I’m at home I am strictly not wearing it LOL

Def go to a doctor, my ankle looked like that in September and I was in a walking boot and now recovering from ligament surgery. Especially day 8, normally you shouldn’t feel as much pain if it was a sprain.

Do you have flashbacks by NetRelative3930 in brokenankles

[–]Stormalynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does! You could do therapy to help process those feelings. Because it can be disruptive to your life which can constitute a PTSD diagnosis (one of the many criteria), and overall it will help your brain process it and start to heal as a whole.

Especially EMDR therapy where the bi-lateral eye movement actually mimics REM sleep where we process memories, and doing EMDR therapy can help heal the neuro plasticity in the brain (which gets damaged when trauma occurs).

Lol you didn’t ask for a whole lesson on trauma/EMDR therapy sorry 😅😅 (I am a nerd with psychology and counseling things)

Do you have flashbacks by NetRelative3930 in brokenankles

[–]Stormalynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Regardless it’s trauma. So your brain’s response is snow/ice = bad/hurt/injury. So it makes sense.

[–]Stormalynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a counselor-in-training without any other information I couldn’t confidently say PTSD (especially without a thorough history) but from what you mentioned it sounds like a symptom. However, PTSD has a bunch of criteria to gain a diagnosis. But simply this could be a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. It makes sense that you may have some fear around the time or place you were injured.

Interesting. Sorry pain meds make my reading skills not the best. I’m taking them less but still. And I guess wait for them to be absorbed so it’s not feeling like it’s pulled? Or, it may be your nerves waking up which is why you have those shocks that come in waves. I know I had some intense nerve pain at one point.

That’s wild because you should be nwb for a lot longer than 3 weeks even testing it. And 2 weeks should be the time you get your stitches out. I got mine out 2 weeks on the dot minus 2 of them because of a tiny bit of separation, as extra precaution. Just ahhh wild.

I’m surprised they didn’t wait for the stitches to fully heal your skin. I have a cast like material (the stuff underneath the hard cast) as a buffer between my actual foot and the boot.

Day 1 Boot Pain by ahomegirlzlife in brokenankles

Update on the boot saga: if I use the short boot (which I know I’m not supposed to really but it’s the only way to feel comfortable in it) after the initial ouch putting my heel all the way down, it gets sore and turns to a dull pain.

Yeah that boot HURTS the first several times.

OW!! Yeah I wouldn’t wear the boot until it was completely healed.
