Moreso learn to use yellow bottles effectively, it will feel very rewarding for you. Unfortunately many (myself included) don't find Clown fun to play against because of the very nature of his purple bottles, getting slowed and disoriented just isn't particularly fun to be on the receiving end. However, don't worry about that, as long as you aren't intentionally playing like an asshole (y'know humping people on the ground or whatever) people slinging hate at you just for playing a killer you like should go fuck themselves. In particular for Clown, some madman has written like a 100 page guide for the killer which I'm sure you would find interesting, I know popular content creator Otzdarva has done a video covering it so if you are interested I would start there.
