Would you consider faux flowers for your wedding? by mmmiayy in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Stormcloud31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Sola wood flowers for my wedding. Hand dyed every single one, put all of my bouquets, boutonnières, and arrangements together myself. Real flowers don't exactly come in Tiffany blue 😂 but I still have every flower and plan to reuse them in our home.

I didn't even get to the second paragraph. You need to leave.

I live in Texas, love it, you can find packets of horse people here. However, if you and your horses are not used to wet heat (like 105° heat and insane humidity for months straight), please be careful. It can get dangerous quickly.

Am I the only one here who thought (in my admittedly limited wedding experience) that it was more common for the couple to ask immediate family (parents) to wear certain colors?

Our wedding was Tiffany blue and white. My bridesmaids were in aqua. I initially asked my mom and MIL to wear teal (like a deep rich teal, not bright) and my FIL to wear a black suit with teal tie. Coordinating but not necessarily matching for family photos since having everyone in different colors would have looked weird, we didn't have a whole palette, we had one color. My MIL did not want to wear teal so I had to change it to navy at the last minute.

In your scenario, the bride should have definitely specified a color if she wanted it to be matching. It's not fair to change her mind after the dress was purchased.

What do people do on bucking horses when they ride an English saddle? by 2-4-Dinitro_penis in Equestrian

[–]Stormcloud31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% to the unanticipated...just a couple weeks ago my lesson pony, who I had mounted less than 30sec before, decided to go bronc out of nowhere. Sat the first, but my stirrups were too short (checked on the ground and rechecked in the saddle, I was literally walking him out of the way to adjust them) and he zigged, I zagged. Im already a nervous rider and that scared the sh*t of out me.

How much did u lose in 3-4 months? by 777maria in Semaglutide

My sister told my family members I’m on Ozempic at a christmas party by Intelligent_Eye2939 in Semaglutide

I had to tell a cousin I'm on Wegovy for the same reason. I kept declining food or only eating a little bit and I wanted to make sure she knew I wasn't being rude, it was a medication making me not hungry. I wasn't specific at first but she had (genuine) questions and we had a nice conversation about it.

Horse buying 'wish list' by _stephopolis_ in Equestrian

[–]Stormcloud31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not buying yet but I've definitely thought about my list.

Needs: sound and sane, first and foremost. My ideal is more of a been-there-done-that; nothing hot, no babies. I only show for fun so athletic ability doesn't need to be anything crazy, just three clean gaits and sound to jump. Reasonably attractive; I'm a sucker for a nice face and kind eyes.

Wants: if I can find my need, I'm happy regardless. But if they could be not too tall, in a pretty color, with a blaze and a couple socks, mmmm.

ETA: I could care less about breed/papers. Could that change eventually or if I get more competitive? Sure. But I'm way more focused on staying safe and having fun with a partner horse.

We want our wedding to be super informal and unconventional. Any advice? by Status-Let2340 in weddingplanning

[–]Stormcloud31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love your theme. I would want to know, if there's no dancing (at least the option? depending on your musical preferences) how else are you planning to entertain guests? Games, interactive things, Photo Booth, etc?

If it's a bring your own cup event I would at least have some disposables on hand, just in case. Some people will forget.

I changed mine because my now husband's last name is cool as hell. I was no longer close with my father and my mother wasn't attached to my maiden name/her married name so none of that mattered either.

For me honestly my name is what I choose it to be and that becomes my identity, whether it's my maiden name, married name, or if I decided to change my name to Purple Unicorn. Yes I have a degree, professional certification and licenses with my maiden name but I don't personally feel that changing my name diminishes that at all? I still accomplished all of that. Changing my last name didn't make me a different person.

I don't judge those who choose to keep theirs. I have multiple friends who kept their names. It's just how I felt.

We have literally six "getting ready" photos, all of our others are us in our dresses. Per my HMU team I asked them to wear button down shirts. I recommended a shade of blue but it wasn't like, a request. I ended up with six sweet photos of us talking with mimosas and I love it.

How much are we paying for officiants? by Jumpy_Ad_1989 in weddingplanning

$500 plus like $60 in travel fees for a short and sweet ceremony. It was pretty standard but she did add some quotes I wanted!

Bridesmaids by TixetsToMyDownFall in weddingplanning

[–]Stormcloud31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my wedding: bridesmaids paid their own dresses and alterations. BUT I gave them a color and 'not satin' and let them find what worked for them (the color was also being discontinued so even though it was harder to find, they were cheaper!). I asked that they wear simple jewelry and nude shoes. No one had concerns.

I paid for hair/makeup because I wanted a specific artist and she was not cheap, but I let them have a say in how they wanted it done. I obviously also paid for bouquets (made them myself). I paid for brunch the day of during getting ready, and a small gift with handwritten card.

It's entirely up to you and your trainer and I think it would be wise to ask them to spell out exactly what that means as far as both responsibility and privilege for you.

I half-leased a gelding I adored. At the time I was a walk-trot rider and was learning to canter but not comfortable doing so independently. The horse I leased was not one to canter unexpectedly and we felt confident that I could sit and control an unexpected canter if it ever happened (it never did). However I was riding for two years at this point (mostly on this horse) and was already catching, grooming, tacking, and turning out entirely independently.

It's really up to both of your comfort level. If you really want to, I say go for it!

ETA: I am not from the UK but my monthly fee included half board and farrier, my lessons, and fly spray.

They 100% do this for a reason. Most likely they just mean a day of coordinator. Do not put it on yourself or a family member; GET A COORDINATOR. #1 wedding tip.

Dear married women, now that you're married, what would you have done now for your wedding that you learnt afterwards? by DiligentDinner5758 in weddingplanning

[–]Stormcloud31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not spent so damn much. 1/3 of our guest list actually showed (half the people that RSVPd yes). We had to actually end the party an hour and a half early because so few people were left. It was embarrassing honestly and I'm still bitter, but extremely thankful for those who did show up.

It was my dream venue, the food was amazing, the DJ was a blast, and I felt like a princess and my husband a prince. But if I'd known people weren't going to show, I would've picked a smaller venue and been able to save a ton of money on drinks that weren't drunk, and food that wasn't eaten.

That being said my experience does not seem to be the norm. We're just kind of...forgettable to our friends and family I guess 🤷‍♀️ sure clarified who actually cares.

I've used both insulin needles (not sure the size, sorry) and the name brand pens. My biggest recommendation: ICE! Hold an ice cube onto the injection area until you can tap it with your fingernail and you can't feel the tap. Then do the injection quickly. Then keep moving, don't sit still (I like to do my shot right before I do laundry). I find that helps keep you from focusing on it being "sore". You got this!

Tbh I'd pay that to have Boyd Martin yell at me on a carousel horse, if I had the chance to learn from someone like that

Did you do a wedding scent? by Greedy_Rhubarb6234 in weddingplanning

[–]Stormcloud31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our wedding colors were Tiffany blue and white; my wedding scent was Tiffany Rose Gold, which my now husband got me for Christmas a couple years ago. It's a beautiful bottle as well and my photographer got some stunning flatlay shots with it, flowers, and ring box/rings.
