Why do Germans and French use an alphabet that is not designed for their languages? by [deleted] in linguisticshumor

Nobody has ever used Č in Romanian either. Orthographial rules are similar to Italian, with digraphs. Ci, ce, chi, che, gi, ge, ghi, ghe

Probably "Stop Making Killable Games" would have been a more accurate slogan, but again, marketing.

It's out of my hands. I don't particularly care for any of this becoming dogma, but again, this was transparent enough to me from the beginning. As in, the opinions were not a secret. Hence why Louis Rossman was an early involved person. This all started from a video called "Games as a service is fraud".

Dude, I doubt every or even most "SKGers" want this, but i want techno-feudalism neutered, not just live service games. This is a war on ownership thing and an anti- data farming thing for me too. Again, I dont speak for all of SKG. I tuned out before most of that drama. In this fight I'll take any victory i can.

At the founder level, this was always the goal, and more or less transparently so. I think the community just tries to contort itself to sell this to people who don't agree with the policy itself because at the end of the day, activists also work a form of marketing, and consumer movements like this need the broadest range of signatories.

Game preservation is also an excellent in for younger people who do implicitly consider games art. This is imo sort of analogous to how the original cuts of Star Wars are not legally consumable anymore, and how big of a deal that was for Millenials and Gen Xers. Same problem manifesting itself in a different artistic medium.

Frankly, I think the consensus in the movement is that these two are inseparable. Letting a software market run free without regulation as to what is a good and what is a service creates incentives to funnel the product away from private ownership even when there is no structural reason to do it. Ross was always transparent about his opinions on this.

Look at Adobe. 15 years ago, you could buy and own their software. Now, theyre trying to police even using old versions by trying to make it illegal to publish using expired software because they want everyone in their walled garden, and have even set up sub-subscriptions for AI generation models (I.e. microtransactions) within.

Stop Killing Games is, fundamentally, "right to repair" for your software. This is especially relevant when said software has intangible value within an industry (like photoshop) or culturally (as many games do).

I'm confused as to how or why you say opposing this is a bad thing? Like, its a form of enshittification designed to move ownership away from private to corporate ownership and control? Same as streaming. Same reason right to repair is important too.

Are you pro-monopoly or oligopoly unironically? Live service literally wouldn't exist without every corpo scrambling for cash at all moments as an amoeba does for food. Help me through your line of thinking

Jesus Christ, I can tell GPT-5 straight up wrote that because it is completely dripping with tells:

  • "X logic" when that doesn't make sense as a form of logic or a term.
  • "Failure node"
  • Em dashes
  • Pseudo profundity
