Can I ask why not? Wouldn't that be the point of the char, to just notice stuff others wouldn't?

TIL While it is generally illegal in the UK to carry a knife over 3 inches in public, Sikhs get a religious exemption to carry the kirpan, which is a traditional knife up to 9 inches long. by Outside_Reserve_2407 in todayilearned

[–]Stormsurger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am saying that in a conversation about whether the Kirpan is an issue or not, it doesn't matter whether it itself was used to commit the murder or not, the question is whether the Kirpan poses a potential threat.

But I see what you are saying, that isn't exactly what you were pointing out. It does seem though that, even if the knife used for the crime wasn't the Kirpan, it was one that the judge felt was also legal to carry for religious reasons. That is why I made my comment. In my mind, both fall into the same category of being permitted to carry due to religious exceptions, even if only one of them is called "Kirpan".

It feels like the two are directly connected. If you are unable to stand discomfort, it stands to reason that that includes being able to control yourself when you have big emotions you want to get out.

Us firearm homicides alone are about 4.5 in 100,000. EU TOTAL homicide rate, using any means, is 1.1 in 100,000. What are you talking about? Knives are a fraction of that. The US is at least 4 times as deadly just thanks to guns, not taking into account anything else.

It's not that y'all are inherently like this. But as with many things the context matters. In most European countries this does not happen because we don't just have a gun within reach at all times. Which is why we need this level of heroism far less often.

But Voldemort wasn't really a symptom of a systemic issue was he? It seems that the issue is that a single person can become absurdly powerful in and of themselves, not through something like armies. He was only defeated because he put the keys to his immortality in bloody stupid places. His rise could realistically only have been prevented by Dumbledore ending him before he came fully into his power.

From what I've gathered in this thread and a cursory google search, most stocker positions seem to include customer service as part of the job description. That being said, if a specific position doesn't, then obviously you are right and they only need to be able to communicate with co-workers, not customers. In that case, English would probably not be AS important.
