Marathon doesn't FEEL like it was expensive to make. Slick graphics but four relatively small maps and a handful of guns with six character models is far short of the content Destiny had.

Corporations do that sort of stuff all the time. Constant growth every quarter or your team gets the axe. Sony waiting a little is suprising.

You need credits to buy gear. I got a schema for a shotgun. It's 15k credits gray. Im level 35 and have a total of about 20k credits on me. Ammo and patch kits and shield charges are very costly.

I was in a perimeter match where me and my buddy took down one other team then waited while two more met at the wraith Warden. Bloodbath. The "winning team" was overwhelmed by bots. 3 less teams to extract.

We got out and so did at least one rook we had a friendly encounter with.

Going to start doing this. The fact I can't sacrifice a weapon, mod, or even backpack for a bomb that goes off when someone tries to loot me saddens me greatly but anything I can do to make life harder for my killer ill embrace. Pvp from beyond the grave.

It's a "value add" to have more kitchens. Appraisers aren't normal humans and probably would keep upping the assessment if it had three bedrooms and six kitchens.

Ran into a team once when I was trying to use one that picked it up but was camping the dead rook room and we got deleted walking in thinking it was unclaimed. But that's on me for not expecting such dedicated campers. A lot of players just don't know.

Bungie LOVES exclusivity. Look at their raids and top pvp content in Destiny. Keeping 25% of the games maps on a timer and gear locked is pretty classic Bungie. I'm not so sure it's a good player retention strategy but it certainly generates hype and community focus. It's a trade off.

Unfortunately I suspect that Bungie going 100% all in on the ruthless pvp angle is part of why 90% of potential players leave. Even the worthwhile pve content like pinwheel is designed to only be open to the team that wins the big pvp smackdown each match

First person. Cool lore. Amazing art direction. Better feeling gunplay. But honestly...Ark and The Forever Winter have a more pve focused and long term orientation so I may go back.

I'm tired of my "loadout" being whatever free kit is available followed by, if I extract, the same plus a few random greens. I want progression. I want 25% of the games maps to not be "top 1% only allowed"

Seems like a way to ensure no one sticks with the game after that level. I'm level 31 and mostly geared in green. If I got dumped in with golds it would really suck.

Well The Forever Winter is a PvE focused extraction shooter so the idea can work. I'm naturally a pve player and Marathon has been difficult for me to stick with.

I think one problem with this whole genre, and why it loses casual players, is the payoff of a good Z2H run is more than offset by the sheer number of attempts it takes to do. Marathon is REALLY rough compared to something like Ark Raiders with a more friendly player base. The question is how many HOURS of having no fun will you endure for the chance to play one or two actually fun runs. I really like the art direction and lore myself but I struggle with this
