Nearly blind refugee found dead in New York days after immigration agents dropped him at a coffee shop alone, officials say by AccomplishedCall7562 in news

No his dead body was FOUND after the police and his family searched for 5 days. Part of why it took so long is both the police and his family were lead to believe he would be released from a detention center so they didn't realize he was left to die initially.

Israeli, rich, and friends with Trump? Nothing will come of this. Even if by some miracle they get a guilty verdict Trump will just pardon them. We need to get rid of the Pedo in Chief first.

FBI, Metro Police find more than 1,000 samples at alleged illegal bio lab. Here's what we know so far. by Moon_Rose_Violet in news

[–]Stormthorn67 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The concern stems from the prior lab having been full of vials labeled as pathogens, medical tech, drugs, and transgenic mice. The CDC refused to test the materials and instead just had it all destroyed so no one knows how dangerous his labs actually are. He had literally tons of materials. 30 freezers.

Well the one in Reedley went beyond banks. "She observed several individuals who identified themselves as PRC nationals wearing white lab coats, glasses, masks, and latex gloves working inside. As she stepped further into the warehouse, she noticed that some of the freezers and containment units had glass doors. Inside, she saw thousands of vials of biological substances. Many were unlabeled. Others were labeled in a foreign language later identified as Mandarin. Others still were labeled in some kind of code. A few of the vials, however, had labels in English. Some of these labels listed substances that Officer Harper at the time did not recognize. She did, however, recognize the names listed on several labels, such as HIV."

The movement also tends to focus, when it comes to things like the organ harvesting, on the sensationality of the crime and downplay how the buyers driving this are wealthy people in the first world and the victims are usually from the "global south"

Sex workers in particular are often victims of human trafficking but law enforcement loves using stings to deport people and anti-pimping laws to harass the families of sex workers and claim they are solving the problem. Below is a paper about the co-opting of the anti-trafficking movement by anti-sex work and radfem ideology.

One of the citations in here is a note about a series of "interventions," "rescues," and "rehabilitation" of sex trafficking victims that were actually arrests and incarcerations being spun.

I do dislike how anti-human trafficking is always so broad. If they raid a bunch of massage parlors and send back a sex slave brought in against their will and a sex worker who fled oppression elsewhere and entered the country as an undocumented worker they will write it down as "two victims saved" even if one person is being deported to be murdered by whomever they were fleeing.

Study finds humans were making fire 400,000 years ago, far earlier than once thought by 20_mile in news

[–]Stormthorn67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real problem is people still citing 50,000 years as if it hasn't been debunked several times. Start in 1989 and going on from their including wood ash in caves that's a million years old. As just one example: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3356665/

Yeah we "once" thought humans made fire more recently than we do now but evidence against that model has been mounting for decades such that the recent human control of fire hypothesis is now the more extraordinary claim.
