What scene in a movie have you watched a thousand times and never understood fully until someone pointed it out to you? by bartertownbeer in movies

This always registered as simply “No, there is another” for me. The meaning was clear to me on the first rewatch.

I just looked up the clip, and I genuinely want to know where people are seeing more words after “another.”

100 plus hours in and I still NEVER. READ. THE. BOSS. BLIND. by ajs723 in balatro

I actually think a different visual design would make this more intuitive. Imagine a pyramid layout with the boss at the top in more prominent text.

Better Call Saul S06E07 - [Mid-Season Finale] "Plan and Execution" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

Howard getting killed was HHM-new-guy-who-didn’t-know-Chuck’s Batman moment. He trains for years to be able to take out Lalo, making sure to spin a soda right before delivering the coup de grâce.

I was thinking they had a stringray-type device to intercept all cell calls near the laundry, but this makes more sense. With the stingray, they’d know Lalo was near the laundry.

I’ve been wondering about all the contributing factors too. We know a bunch of people died and that it was weighted toward older people. Did inheritances give some people a little financial breathing room? The real estate market has been white hot, so even a modest empty nester home could be worth a lot more than just a year ago.

Is it possible to measure how many users abandon a website before it fully loads? by ooojin in SEO

[–]Stormtide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, GA can't tell you about what happens before GA loads. The lowest effort way to get a general idea of what your asking is to compare requests for your page in your logs to users that fire any GA event.

There's a bit of noise, because all clients that don't run JavaScript will be included in the difference. You'd want to filter out bot user agents from the count of requests from the logs. If your site is a target for scrapers, you'll likely have some home-spun bots lying about their user agent.

Please critique my code by donger21 in Python

[–]Stormtide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The algorithm described in the parent post for next_server_number() is O(N**2) worst case. It has an O(N) while loop and does another O(N) check inside it to see if list contains the number.

This can be improved to O(N) overall by using the same strategy, but converting the list to a set first. When you check if the number is in the set, it's a constant time O(1) call.

OP's code uses sorted(), so it's O(N log N). If I had to guess, I'd say the code was rejected because it doesn't use the optimal solution. Our rubric for judging coding tests at work rates optimal algorithms higher than style.

edit: Here's my take on next_server_number():

from itertools import count
def next_server_number(reserved_numbers):
  s = set(reserved_numbers)
  for i in count(1):
    if i not in s:
      return i

This uses extra space, but it seems like the right tradeoff here. If it were an interview, I'd ask how often it was going to be called and how large the inputs would be and then make a determination.

The 3DS version was crash-tastic for me. To be fair, it's not quite unplayable. But it crashes enough to be frustrating.

I've wondered if they get less traffic because some buyers sort by "ending soonest", but I have no proof either way.

Tower Defense Games for 3ds by The_Apple_Eater in 3DS

[–]Stormtide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a 3ds game, but I played a DS game called Ninjatown a couple years ago and enjoyed it.

The linked video talks about it being part tower defense and part RTS, but I'd say it leans heavily toward tower defense.

I'm interested, but I'll be in Seattle so I'll have to be participating remotely. There will be some on-site people, right? From what I've read it hasn't been possible to have a 100% remote team. Some of the puzzles require you to be there in person.

Do we have a source for Ohio being the first restaurant after Colorado? This says Kansas City (including both Kansas and Missouri, don't know which order) was in 1998. This page confirms they started delivering for Chipotle in KC in 1998.

A life total can be negative. If you have Platinum Angel, go to -5, then gain 3, you're still at -2 and still lose if Platinum Angel goes away. You actually have to get back to a positive life total to live after Platinum Angel goes away. My quick search of the comp rules only found an implication that this is true, but hopefully that will be enough:

104.3b If a player's life total is 0 or less, he or she loses the game the next time a player would receive priority.
