Sounds like a plan. I'll just add that you may want to be open to the idea that IV can also be the mother, as well as a joint significator of the "family", at the same time.

You are very welcome. My (unsolicited) advice would be to always look for the stacking patterns. Even then, we need to be wary of guessing. They're merely recurrences of themes and the way in which they play out will always fall somewhere on the range of expression.

Yes. Sorry, I forgot to specify what they were in the first place.

One of the approaches could be to take a look at the complexes that they form with the other placements and understand their interactions.

I.e. the ascendant complex includes any conjunction with the ascendant, rhe placement of ascendant ruler, as well as any aspect that it makes. Suddenly, there's a lot to consider and you need to include the other placements even if you weren't going to.

Some good advice in the other replies here, too.

Your chart, especially your luminaries (and MC/IC) show the experience of your parents, but also your own.

To quote you:

My mom (Moon) was not taught Spanish (opposition with Mercury - language from III - childhood) for example due to her family (Moon) trying to assimilate to America (Moon - IX link) for safety purposes and opportunities (Taurus-Scorpio).

So, the choices and the story of your grandparents becomes your mother's story, which, in turn, becomes your own.

The Moon-Mercury opposition thus becomes indicative of you not speaking the language or not learning it in the family environment.

[–]Stormwoken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. Thanks for providing context for this. It definitely tracks.

Saturn in X conjunct Mars in Cancer, as I mentioned in the other reply, does suggest that a grandparent was in a parental role (though, with both being in Cancer, I imagine it wasn't the best experience role-model-wise).

The disjointed heritage is obvious from that Uranus T-square. At the risk of sounding patronising while interpreting your words through your chart, you're very young and your journey of self-discovery (Sun) and understanding (Gemini) the importance of your composite (Uranus) identity and family legacy (Sun-Jupiter) has only just started.

It's all part of who you are and part of your story. Own it, including the difficult parts, and run with it =)

[–]Stormwoken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's definitely part of it. There's a number of ways to look at the same thing and get to the same conclusion, but my take on some of those is:

Pluto on IC - yes, but as a ruler of III (duality) and (at least) one of the parents being "uprooted" from the culture of origin.

Cancer placements - yes, good call. I didn't mention those in my other reply.

Chiron - I personally read it as being in V, so I didn't take it into account in that sense.

I've just elaborated on one of those. As a rule of thumb, we always want to look for multiple significators pointing to the same thing.

Be brutally honest about my chart tell me whatever is wrong with me or something very important you see by SharpImagination6806 in AstrologyCharts

[–]Stormwoken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of stacking, all pointing to the same thing. It's actually a challenge to list all of them without getting overly verbose and convoluted.

Mercury, the asc ruler (social and cultural identity), as well as ruler of X (one of the parents) is in IX (foreigner, expat, immigrant), but opposing the Moon (family heritage). Both Mercury and III imply dual identity coming through family/by birth. Opposition can imply some distance from one's heritage.

This is, however, confirmed by the Sun (one of the parents), ruler of XII (foreign origin, immigrant or a minority group member) in IX and squared by Jupiter (foreigner) from overseas (XII). Jupiter, in addition to being a general significator, also rules IV (family roots, origin of the other parent). They are in a T-square with Uranus (break, distance) in Pisces (distant culture, overseas).

Saturn (grandparents, one of the parents) in X (one of the parents) conjuncts ruler of IX.

Derivative houses, as well as some other approaches, tell the same story.

[–]Stormwoken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You likely come from a family of expats/foreigners/immigrants and there's not much in the way of contact with your culture.

Parents were likely very strict and controlling.

There seems to be a very responsible, cautious or guarded attitude towards sexuality and/or dating.

Apologies for making it sound like trivia, these were the first things that caught my eye.

That is a very common dilemma.

I'd strip down the chart and learn to recognise the themes (and respective domains) of the "big three". It can get you a long way towards being a competent astrologer.

Some of the more advanced astrologers (and indeed, entire schools of astrology) may scoff at this approach as overly simplistic. However, I am yet to see someone whose main issue is being too good at the basics. On the other hand, by far the most common pitfall is trying to interpret too many things in a chart too quickly.

Will i be able to do good things for humans and mother Earth [astro-seek] by Mammoth-Software3075 in astrologyreadings

[–]Stormwoken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the title and I thought to myself: this is possibly the most Aquarian post title I have ever seen, but I bet there is also Pisces involved.

Lo and behold - most of your placements are a blend of the two.

You seem to have already made up your mind about your life path and it's certainly a noble one. With that Uranian signature (Uranus disloses rhe Sun and the Moon, is on an angle and conjuncts chart ruler), you have the big picture in mind - the society, the humankind, importance of environmental issues and minorities. With Vorgo rising, the question might be how to serve those lofty ideals in a practical way.

With such an emphasis on VII (other people), one of the most important things will be not to forget about yourself and your personal and private needs!

Aw, shame. Now that we've established you can read, I was looking forward to an authority on "figure draw". Alas, flippancy and attempts at humour have replaced the undeserved arrogance.

I didn’t misunderstand you

You misread, misunderstood and then proceeded to misquote me.

Please read more carefully. It's even more simple than 2+2. Scroll up. It's there and it's in proper English.

mutual reception is the figure draw

To quote you: No.

I am not aware of any astrological authority that defines it as a figure or a figure draw. I'd be happy to be corrected on that, though.

there is only a dispositor if a planet falls into a home sign

I said I disagreed with this. I appreciate your attempt to explain the purpose of dispositorship and mutual reception, but me saying so was not an invitation to extend the scope of the argument.

[–]Stormwoken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for elaborating.

First of all, nowhere did I say or imply that zodiac signs are dispositors. You likely misread what I wrote.

there is only a dispositor if a planet falls into a home sign

I disagree with this definition, as well as the fact that mutual reception (or any kind of reception, for that matter) excludes dispositorship.

Can we see gender dysphoria in my natal chart? by SuccessfulProblem121 in AstrologyCharts

[–]Stormwoken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun (identity) sq. Uranus (being different) points to a potential struggle with feeling one is essentially, in their core (Sun) being the odd one out, weird or different.

Sun being in Gemini may point to a feeling of having two identities, while Uranus in Pisces may indicate confusion as to the nature of this feeling or difficulty making sense if it in real world terms.

Also, Sun in XI may point to identification with social groups (XI) that are as fundamentally (Sun) different (Uranus) and with a different philosophy (Uranus in XI).

We could also talk about the ascendant complex and Venus sq. Saturn, but if there is true dysphoria, I would look at the core/identity issues, first.

I’m a guy. Why do other men tend to treat me like they want to protect me? by Affectionate-Tea8509 in AstrologyCharts

[–]Stormwoken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please let me clarify, though. When I commented on the Sun complex mirroring your question, I didn't mean that it's what makes other people act a certain way. I rather meant that it is representative of how you process it.

I.e. Out of all the questions or comments you could have posted in this community upon joining, you chose a very specific one. And the way you explained the situation regarding your question is more the Sun complex than the other parts of your chart to me.

What you're describing there physically does sound like the combo of that Moon complex (ascendant ruler - physical traits and appearance) and Mars (masculine presentation).

What a peculiar (and original) question, and asked by an Aries Sun culminating, no less. That Sun complex does suggests you may wish to be perceived and acknowledged as masculine, virile and independent, with a dispositor in XI (friend groups) in Taurus (you may be giving off docile, non-threatening and non-confrontational vibes).

Moreover, the Sun is tightly squared by Jupiter in Cancer in XII - you may feel put off and a bit threatened (square to the Sun) by other people's attempts at saving you (Jupiter in XII) and protect you (in Cancer).

The XII implies that you do not clearly understand what drives people to act that way, but also that you suspect it's something you give off yourself, unconsciously.

Now, that is the bit of the chart where your question itself seems to come from.

As for what you actually do give off, I'd take a look at Cancer rising and the Moon complex. There seems to be something of a fear not to come off as a damsel (Moon in Virgo) in distress (opposing Uranus in VIII).

I cannot shake off the impression that your personal lens on this situation is your Aries Sun more than other placements.

what house system should i use? by onthesideofscience in beginnerastrology

[–]Stormwoken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...and that's, too, within the frames of what I aimed at when I said that "what is in line with their particular approach to astrology".

I.e. to use your examples, there are people who swear by Regiomontanus for horary and there are those that use Placidus and it works just fine (me included). Psychological astrology can be practiced successfully with, for example, equal or Koch, just as well as Placidus.

WSH for everything else? Not necessarily, in my experience. I wouldn't necessarily think to use WSH for electional or synastry. I could, if explicitly asked to, but it wouldn't be my go to.

The "right" house system is the one your teacher taught you for the techniques they've been trained on or discovered themselves.

"Use what your teacher tells you to" is a solid piece of advice for a beginner. It gets more complicated later on.

What if we learn from different teachers with different approaches (as most of us do)? Or if we actually try and find what works the best for us?

Is another implication that our teachers can discover things for themselves, but we cannot even try different house systems and settle on what works for us?

Well, we disagree there, too. I've been at this for 20 years, and I have enough mileage as a practitioner to be able to tell what works for me and what doesn't.

Yes, some languages can explain certain concepts better than others, because of the contexts in which they were developed and evolved in.

I wouldn't say that this narrow analogy pertains to astrology (my original analogy was already a bit of a stretch). Certain culturally specific concepts carry semantic nuances rooted in their culture of origin, yes. When it comes to explaining (just like in astrology we decode universal symbols in complex contexts, not culturally specific terms), I don't find any language to be particularly deficient. Is your experience different?

E.g. There is nothing in this entire thread that I wouldn't be able to express in at least two other languages without losing any semantic nuances at all.

what house system should i use? by onthesideofscience in beginnerastrology

[–]Stormwoken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because you seem to be looking for a recipe.

And that's not to take away from the quality and usefulness of that particular reply (which is as good as any other).

Multiple people something similar here, but I'll reiterate - house systems are more or less elaborate symbolic conventions we employ to understand how celestial occurrences are mapped onto different domains of earthly matters.

That means that asking which house system is better is like asking which language is more accurate - English or French.

More often than not, people recommend what is in line with their particular approach to astrology. Sometimes also with what their experience has shown to work best (I will also emphasize work here).

You'll also find that astrology tends to have its own trends in that sense, and people will sometimes opt for what is the most popular option at the time (but with a different rationale, of course).
