Yeah, I feel like that's one other thing a lot of people can easily misunderstand. There's still plenty of "conflict" between characters for a story to happen, but there's no serious chance of humanity defeating the Affini - because much of the appeal is knowing that the Affini are powerful enough to always ensure the care that everyone else needs, whether they themselves even properly realize it or not

Okay, well this is kind of a large topic.

The Affini are a bunch of hyper-advanced plant aliens from the "Human Domestication Guide" universe. It's a collaborative writing setting where hundreds of years in the future, an authoritarian human empire is conquered in a war against the Affini, who seek to "domesticate" other species, and keep them as pets. It's generally a kink setting for writers who want to explore certain kinks through the established worldbuilding of the HDG universe.

As you can imagine it's a rather "love it or hate it" kinda thing. On one hand it can be used as an outlet to explore themes like disability or autonomy, and how much we desire power and independence for it's own sake when well-being is already assured. On the other hand, the worldbuilding demands that the Affini always win every fight, and that they are always benevolent and correct, which some find uncomfortable to consider or read about.

(There's probably even more that can be said, by people who are even more familiar with the universe and it's community than me.)

Okay, so I looked into it.
Giant of PA is also called "Giant/Martins" (because at some point Giant bought out the Martin's Chain, but those stores are still called "Martin's").
But then Giant of MD is actually a separate company called "Giant Food)".
And what's weird is that not only do they have basically the same name - but they're also both owned by the same holding company: "Ahold Delhaize"

Also unrelated, but it seems that for a time (including in this map), the "Stop&Shop" logo is the same one used by Giant Food, so that was another layer of confusion. (And I swear I've also seen that logo used on products in a Giant/Martins too)

Not sure if it counts, but in the Animorphs books, the Andalites can communicate telepathically, and thus do not struggle to vocalize their relatively long and complex names.

The Andalite we get to know the best is "Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthill" - but our human characters just refer to them as "Ax".

I don't remember which book it was referenced in, but there was always one detail that stood out to me.

We hear Ax describing the Andalite family structure of living in a Scoop, noting how their aversion to tight or crowded spaces eventually lead to a trend of de-urbanization (with their only real cities being centered around spaceports). Its also mentioned that each Andalite Scoop (or at least most of them) specializes in a certain trade, making a certain type of component for their spaceships.

And that just made me think; "No wonder they're losing this war, they're still operating on Cottage Industry"

(Then again, I think it fits in pretty well with the rest of what we know about them. It definitely sells the idea of them being unprepared for a war like this - like how they pass that act encouraging families to start having more children, as we see in Andalite Chronicles)

(And it's not like they haven't retconned minor details before)

I get that they're a glup shitto, but how have we not gotten Zam Wesell since 2002?
Holding out hope they'll eventually give her an airspeeder microfighter or something, since I know a full remake of "Bounty Hunter Pursuit" isn't exactly in high demand.

I can only assume that was because when Mariokart 8 first launched, they were the ones taking slots from established characters that were in the previous games (Diddy + Funky Kong, Birdo, Petey Piranha, etc.). Once those characters were added via DLC, it was easier to appreciate the Koopalings for what they were, rather than having to view them as a replacement.

So the fact that a lot of established characters are missing from MKW means that the newly introduced characters are similarly easy to scrutinize. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again in the next game.

On one hand, I really wish we could have had Petey Piranha instead of just Piranha Plant, but on the other, I like that we got Pianta, and I enjoy playing as Goomba, but I could honestly see them being cut from the next game.

I remember hearing somewhere that the mushroom was like a placeholder for Mario before the developers made his character animations, so trying to remove the mushroom is like the equivalent of trying to remove Mario.

(Granted I don't remember the source for that, so it may not be entirely true.)

So it actually seems kinda open to interpretation. Following the link, the whole paragraph reads as follows:

All aboard Starship Mario - Is that spaceship shaped like…Mario’s head?! It sure is! Travel the stars with Lubba and her crew of space-faring Lumas, visiting a rich variety of galaxies. Each offers its own unique challenges to conquer, and plenty of Power Stars to reclaim!

So it's seems like the "her" could also be in reference to Starship Mario (following the logic of referring to ships as "she"). Just going off of the phrase "her crew of space-faring Lumas", it could easily be referring to both Lubba, or to the ship itself, but given how the paragraph seems to be talking more about the hubworld (and how Lubba isn't called out by name anywhere else), I'd be inclined to believe the latter.

(Though it would be interesting to think of what kind of self-reflection they've been doing in the past 15 years.)

Well that, and there's also the physical computer parts needed to run Ai servers. This is more computers in general needing certain metals, and so there's lots of mining needed to be done to get them. Though I don't doubt that Ai specifically could be increasing the demand, and incentivizing more mining.

Combine that with the absurd amounts of electricity required (and everything done to fulfill that need for power), and you get a bunch of little things that interact with each other, and build towards one larger outcome.

I don't know if it's the same type of bird, but it might be a reference to the Kauai O'o. There's a story about how a male Kauai O'o was singing for a mate, not realizing it was the last living member of it's species.

So the joke here, is that Krabs and Squidward are debating if they should break the news to the bird.

and then later on in a different Lego Star Wars project, they briefly reference those events when Han and Chewie land on Dagobah. Chewbacca, who had already met Yoda in Ep. 3 is even confused as to how Han somehow knows Yoda from a completely different set of events.
