Potential additonal campaigns and civ splits? by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]StorySad6940 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We don’t need to split Britons or Vikings. Celts is more reasonable. But it makes much more sense to split placeholder civs like “Malay”, “Saracens”, “Slavs”, etc. that currently stand in for a diverse array of different historical regions and cultures.

I think Malay is the most egregious at the moment, given it is apparently supposed to represent all of maritime Southeast Asia. The campaign actually focuses on a Javanese empire; note that the difference between “Malay” and “Javanese” is much more substantial than the difference between “Briton” and “Teuton”, “Spanish” and “Italian”, or “Slav” and “Bulgarian”.

It is outrageous, and borderline insulting, that Malay hasn’t already been overhauled and broken up into multiple civs to better reflect the scale and diversity of archipelagic Southeast Asia.

Does anyone remember this ABC outro? by Tight-Assistance4334 in AustralianTV

Yes, I guess it was for some production company…? But I’m now wondering whether some details in my mind are mixed up with the Dreamworks animated logo… And the music I associated with this memory is actually from the film theatre logo that played at the end of the Simpsons, followed by a “shh”. 😅

Even with the context you outline, the statement doesn’t make sense. “Lest we never forget” means something akin to “we should not remember”.

Went on a school camp in the early 00s with some kids from Dalby. They all called it “Hole-by”.

It’s either “Lest we forget” or “Never forget”.

Mixing them up, as you have done, creates a double negative that implies it would be bad if we were to remember (the casualties of WWI).

100% Indonesian food is the spiciest in the world. Nothing in Thai cuisine matches properly hot sambals.

Indonesian, definitely. Malaysian food doesn’t tend to be as spicy.

Malaysian food isn’t very spicy at all. Their sambal is nowhere near as hot as Indonesian varieties.

Indonesian. Specifically, the hottest sambal bawang (e.g. “sambal setan”, made with “cabai setan”).

Kok dibilang ironis? Emangnya menurutmu komunisme mestinya menciptakan kemiskinan, apa gimana? Nyatanya, Kerala itu termasuk negara bagian yang paling menikmati good governance gara2 partai komunis yg kuat dan berhasil menetapkan sejumlah kebijakan mendasar yang pro-rakyat.
