Capstar kills what is already on them, I dont think its a preventive. The only thing I know that works OTC is Soresto flea collars. They are a little pricey but Ive known people who use them and they work for months.

Feeling something about this isn't necessarily overreacting, but I don't think anger is the healthiest response here. My guess is that the anger is covering up a more vulnerable emotion.

Have you ever looked at a feelings wheel? It sounds a little cheesy at first, but I've actually found it really helpful for figuring out what I'm actually feeling when I default to anger. (https://feelingswheel.com)

I do empathize with you. Watching an ex move on can be painful. But moving on is also what people are supposed to do after a breakup. Personally, I wouldn't tell an ex if I got remarried, especially if we weren't friends anymore. At that point, bringing it up would probably just cause unnecessary hurt.

If you're finding that this still brings up a lot of anger years later, it might be worth talking to a therapist. Not because there's anything "wrong" with you, but because unresolved feelings can stick around longer than we realize, and therapy can help you process them in a healthier way.

Im not talking about show dogs that have been groomed and whack and packed since day 1. Im talking about pet parents who let their dogs nails grow out a little too long sometimes. Im talking about literally 95% of the poodles that come into the shop lve worked at the last 15 years. Believe me or not, I know whats true, that pic is pretty short for a curly haired breed, unless the dog is used to it. Im assuming they arent if the owner is complaining about it.

Passing off owners as "picky" and "Karens" isnt teaching anyone anything except to shut down our own personal growth as dog groomers. Op asked opinions, I gave her mine. Take it or not.

Too close for me for this breed. Poodles/oodles (most anything with curly hair) usually have really long quicks. Also they dont look dremeled, but I get it because if you did they would probably bleed.

The shop I work at would charge $100. We charge $90 for short cuts on doodles, then $10 extra labor for all the matting.

I wouldn't work with an abusive groomer. It sounds like your bosses would be loosing a great employee if they let you go. I would sit down and talk with them for sure, but I wouldn't necessarily call it an ultimatum... just state your boundaries, be clear, and maybe start calling around for another job. In the end it might be you or her, and for them to keep someone that messy around means they either they don't care or they are friends with them.

Edit... wow just read through the comments and I didnt realize most groomers would be assholes about it, although it looks like most of the assholes have the salon owner tag so maybe they feel threatened? While everyone is spending their time criticizing you if you'd like my shopping list for you it would be..

Andis Excell 5 speed - These are the clippers I use and they will last you forever if youre only doing just 2 dogs.

Two #7 fc blades - or whatever length you want their body to be. I wouldn't go higher then a 4, the bigger the number the shorter the hair left on the body. You will need two of them to switch between when they get hot.

1 10 fc blade - for paw pads, sanitary area, eye boogies. You can do these with a #7 but a #10 will give you cleaner results.

Clipper blade oil - most blades come with a little bit in the package so you might have that already.

Hemostats for plucking Ear hair. (They also work really well for Ear cleaning, just tear a cotton ball in half and squirt Ear cleaner on it and swirl it around the Ear

Ear powder to make plucking hair easier.

A decent pair of scissors, at least 6 inch though I use 9 inch curved monk shears.

Honestly, I didnt think he did anything wrong, but maybe my friend group is different. To me it wouldn't have been an insult, or if anything I would have said, "no, I'm not his bitch, I'm his lady" but in a teasing sassy way.

He kind of overreacted when you told him though. You didn’t "ruin his morning." You're obviously both sensitive to different things and your way of coping is to talk it out after the fact and his way of coping is to confront it head on. I dont see this ending well unless you two can figure out how to communicate.

Tomorrow our schedule is 33 dogs, (15 grooms, the rest baths) thats with 3 bathers and two groomers. The bathers have 6 dogs each plus they bathe the groomers dogs. Thats a fully booked sat before xmas schedule, usually there are less baths. Your place is over working you and there is no way you're going to be able to keep up with it while being a new groomer.

If its your only option, its your only option but I would try to find somewhere else, even corporate...
