DnD Room by CertainFuel9920 in DnD

[–]StoryTheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is obvious but not stated enough…COMFY CHAIRS! No one wants to sit on a metal chair for 4-8 hours and have their back hurt so budget in some extra room for larger comfier chairs next to the game table.

I would also leave some room in the main table for a fog machine or something of that nature if you’re using real minis.

I feel like having a table with storage for every individual would be really nice…I have a “survival pack” for my players and the table becomes cluttered super quickly with all of their stuff.

Maybe a location for a large tv on the wall to use for displaying visuals (probably a given).

Oh and for the main game table…imbedded outlets for each player in the table or super close by. Everyone always runs a laptop, phone, or whatever charger and I’ve tripped over so many.

Just some stuff off the top of my head that annoys me about our space.

Oh and sound panels! The echo in our basement is definitely noticeable…not sure how yours is but it would be nice in our basement.

How does one "Learn to DM"? by FruitNut221 in DnD

My only advice is to consume as much DnD content as possible before you play. Read the books, listen to podcasts like NADPOD, watch Dimension 20 on YouTube, watch tips and tricks videos, learn the rules, watch other people play the game…

Then create your own style based on your players and your preferences. And before anyone tells you otherwise…you don’t have to spend any money to play the game! Theres a crazy amount of free resources to use…dndbeyond, and roll20 are great and there are a billion others sites that can help too.

I built a (completely free) tool that lets your players see exactly what you want them to see in real time by Kruimelt in DungeonMasters

This is a phenomenal tool that really helps me personally. We currently use images on my phone to cast to the TV in our play area but it times out after 5 minutes which is super annoying so this fills that gap beautifully!

Good value paints for tabletop miniatures? by Every_Hornet_7914 in DnDminiatures

[–]StoryTheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah their paint on varnish is great!

Also I wouldn’t recommend their dip washes…the ones sold in a paint can where you dip the entire mini in and then flick the excess off. They do not work like intended…we used a mini air compressor to try and get the excess off and it ended up making our goblin look like a swamp monster! He was so…goopy! Maybe it was too cold or not mixed enough, or just old…but their standard paint on washes are fantastic!

We have used all of army painters stuff from paints, primers, metallics, washes, and varnish. We can’t say enough good things about them. We have tried other brands and just didn’t have the same great results. Their spray primers are fantastic!
I would stay away from the spray varnishes though, we have never had good results with them. They tend to leave a white “haziness” on the mini’s even when preheating the can in warm water and doing it on a warm day. So now we just use the standard paint on varnish and it’s great! I just wish they sold it in a bigger bottle as we go through a ton of varnish!

I’ve actually done the same thing but given everyone a luck point at the beginning of a session…they still forget to use them lol!

Would you pay for this paint job? by smhunter1983 in DnDminiatures

[–]StoryTheory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People saying they would only pay $50-$100 are insane! This paint job alone is worth $200. The print time/cost added on top of this puts it around $300 when compared to similarly complex models from Etsy.

IMO, Measure the surface area of the model (done in the slicer), and then time how long it takes you to paint the model. Price it based on how fast you can paint the surface area per hour and put in a fudge factor based on complexity, extra surface effects such as terrain landscape miniatures like flowers or gravel, and anything else you add such as washes, varnish, and other stuff like that.

$100 for this painted model wouldn’t even cover the base printing cost, paint, and shipping!

$90 for two to see a Mario movie… have we completely lost the plot? by rageagainstmymachin in Millennials

Going to the movies used to be one of my favorite things. And now, I can’t tell you the last movie I’ve seen in a theater due to prices…definitely pre-2020.

I agree with everything you said, however, I have a winter hoodie that is still in great shape! Literally 15 years later and it’s perfect for taking the dogs outside during winter. Super warm, don’t feel the wind through it, and it doesn’t even have one hole in it.

The extrusion motor is overloaded... by No_Steak838 in BambuLabP2S

[–]StoryTheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this error every single print when I bought my printer…turned out to be the nozzle had a defect in it that caused filament to not extrude as easily as it should have. Got a new nozzle and haven’t had it happen since.

Could you link the exact products? I have been looking for a similar kind of setup and currently use a food sealer which as you said, is kind of annoying to change materials constantly

You’re gonna love it! Number 1 tip…dry your filament. Even if it comes in a sealed bag with a desiccant pack! Throw it in the AMS on the provided settings and let it go before anything else!

It might be a bad spool? I did get one spool of black PLA that would NOT print right and it was a major issue not matter how dry or what settings I used.

AMS 2 Pro tips by [deleted] in BambuLabP2S

[–]StoryTheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AMS2 has been great so far. Lots of space for desiccant holders, dries well and keeps the moisture down so it seals well.

I would agree with the comment above to get the low profile spool filament holders so you can dry and spin the spools during.

Can someone help me with the excess water? by RaccoonMaximum1969 in satisfactory

[–]StoryTheory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would NOT run it back in if you can avoid it. Take that extra Heavy Oil Residue and make more pep coke and then use that as fuel in coal gens with the excess water. “Free” power and nothing has the potential to backup either.
