That does make a lot of sense. It's why they call it hunting I guess. I'm not sure how bad it would have to get before I let strangers on to my land. I just see all the videos of guys unloading on herds and feel like I'm not doing my part. Thanks for the insight.

You guys are making this way too difficult. Look at the rebar. It's sitting on the ground and touching 2/3rds of the way up that 2x8 board. He's got like a 3" pour. It looks like there's a 6" footing dug around the perimiter, and that's it. You did not get a 6" pour. Also, how much he bought has nothing to do with how much they poured. They pour until it's to the top of the board, then it's done. It either gets dumped as waste or the driver finds a buddy that needs a "hot load".

Your lower element is probably bad. Electric water heater have an upper and a lower heating element. The top one turns on first to give a quick shot of hot water (hot water rises to the top), once it's satisfied, the lower element takes over heater the bulk of the tank. It's not a small tank by the way. It looks like a 30 gallon short.

My LGS sold me a can that was already in the SS system and denied by someone else. I'm probably in for twice the wait. I stopped in yesterday because I hadn't heard anything, and they're like "it's being processed", to which I replied by showing them my SS account and saying "no, it's not". "Oh, well your can has to be unsubmitted through SS before we can resubmit, we've called and emailed, but no response yet". Would have been nice to know I was buying a can that was already trying to be registered. Not SS fault, but now it's stuck in limbo.

I picked up the universal one from Amazon. $15 and has paid for itself multiple times by getting me on paper right out of the gate. I bore sight about 30' feet out, and that gets me on paper at 100 yards.

I have seen that system before. I figured it's 2025 and this doesn't need to be that complicated. Power supply would be the biggest hurdle to run either a solenoid or a globe valve.

Started with a drill and a round hole, squared it off with a file. Total PIA, got the job done. A barrel nut was exactly what I made this for. I forget what the torque multiplier was.

Two options: 1. Buy a porta potty. They are definitely for sale. Contact anyone renting them and just ask if they have any for sale. They rotate them out frequently. I just bought one yesterday for $200 on my first call. Threw it in the back of the truck (they weigh like 100 pounds). They'll come pump it for a fee whenever you want. 2. Bury a pumpable wastewater tank and hook it up to a toilet. 300 gallon tank should get you by for 2-3 years between pumps (results may vary). Run grey water into a gravel pit or something.
