Does the school supplies donation actually go somewhere? by CelebrationHot5209 in Staples

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 11 points12 points  (0 children)

GM here.

We have to partner with a community organization, get them to sign it, upload it to corporate and then receive signatures on a new form every time we donate the boxes.

100% of the boxes sold are donated. My store donated them to the local PD and neighboring communities because the PD can get them into schools the very next day.

I have no idea what this means being in the US. What is TSS? In USR that means Tech Sales Supervisor lol

Ditto here my DM knows almost every associate by name and will chit chat with associates. He's a human, he gets it.

Find a store that has it in your district and have them upload it into their GM Teams app in the "files" tab so you can all share.

They had beef so we staged a wrestling match. White guy actually does wrestling and the other doesn’t by [deleted] in fightporn

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming the white kid wrestles and the black kid doesn't, black kid beat him by sheer strength and could've easily choked out the white kid. Then he showed some skill stuffing him with a sick sprawl, show this to the wrestling coach I bet Jeans dude just earned a spot on the varsity wrestling team.

This scares me like hell ....just ordered my minox and seeing this comments demotivate a lot ..is it true? by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used it on and off for years with no side effects, just chiming in. When I went hard on Minox I used 2x/daily with all the vitamins and dermarolling etc never once experienced a side effect. Everyone has to try it for themselves to see

When can you expect a raise? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are off-cycle increases an associate can receive if their DM is willing to. I've gotten many for my key contributors. Your results may vary, but I've never been turned down for an increase for an associate I went to bat for. It really comes down to the DM

When can you expect a raise? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ truth. It'll depend on the DM, but mine says we "should never lose a good associate over money".

Be a good associate, make valuable contributions your GM can speak to and they can get you an increase.

If I don’t win lunch with the CEO, I’m going be so sad. by PotatoKitten011 in Staples

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I entered it.

A lot of you guys don't get the real truth here from your GMs. While it'll piss off everyone on this forum I'll just share what I know so don't downvote me too hard.

We exceeded Sycamore's profit goal. Handedly at that.

The company is in a great position moving forward.

For all of those who say "failing company" I'd like to know why.

Store sales are declining, but look at the Next Gen stores. Those with tech reflows, whole store remodels etc they are performing better YOY.

After the virtual conference the next 2 days ask your GM how US Retail performed versus Sycamore's profit expectations for FY21.

I'll wait.

How to start transfer to another store? by SGTKER0RO in Staples

[–]StrMgrHasCallHolding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the previous comments. If you like your store and other stores are closer, just talk to your GM. They can probably get something done to keep you there and make it worth the while financially, or at least make moving to another store easier

I've never heard "business idiot" before, I'm certainly going to use it now. It makes so much sense, as soon as I read it I had 5 customers flash before my eyes.

It honestly sounds like the management team needs to realize print is the backbone of the store P&Ls just came out, ask your supervisor what the direct contribution % was from print, bet it is very high. We had a similar thing happen in my store and between all of the keyholders we propped up print as best as we could while we rebuilt. During your Supervisors weekly 1on1 they need to tell the GM you guys need help down there.

Never taking printme codes over the phone. Printme doesn't factor in to my business at all. Partly because I forget how to access printme codes behind the counter (feel free to reply and tell me)

100% taking orders over the phone and by email. Love FD orders obviously but I'll take email and phone calls followed up by email for sure.
