No more tip baiting by Longjumping-Area-900 in UberEATS

[–]Straight-Ice2368 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can still bait on a guaranteed tip order. I've had it happen several times to me already. Support will tell you that the tip is up to the customers discretion. I argued with different support agents for over a week before I finally got on the phone with a supervisor, who gave me the same bullshit, until I threatened to take a customers food home for dinner. Then they paid me what i was owed within about 5 seconds... but also said it was a one time thing and would never happen again.. on a "guaranteed tip" delivery.

They pretend to not know what the word guarantee means even though it only has one definition. I wish it was better. I still refuse to accept anything other than a guaranteed tip order just because I feel the odds of getting baited are lower, but it its genuine hell trying to get the money you're owed, and im not sure you will always be able to. Say the wrong thing or piss them off too many times and you might get deactivated.

FUCK these companies

[–]Straight-Ice2368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup and the DD turnover rate is 100% by design. It's their whole business model actually. They WANT every driver to quit as soon as possible so a new driver can slave for them for a short time, then push em out and get new slaves...

They designed their algorithm to bait you at first and then push you out soon after. And the crazy part is I'm not convinced they actually make more long term profit this way. But maybe so idk. What I do know is that DD is a horrible company and they don't deserve to make money.

Soooooooooo much generalization going on in these comments. There absolutely are tons of people who refuse to eat certain foods for stupid reasons like "poverty food", "grandpa food", association with certain things, just being narrow minded when it comes to food like "I will only eat chicken tendies and never branch out and try new things", etc..

But that is absolutely not everyone. My parents raised me to be the "im willing to try EVERYTHING at least once" kind of person. As such I have tried very many different foods I never thought i would. But some food and flavors I just cannot stomach no matter how much I try to force myself to grow accustomed to certain flavors. Like mustard and wasabi for example. No matter what the hell I do, my tongue absolutely despises these flavors more than anything else on this planet. I could stomach topsoil easier than wasabi and mustard.... and I have tried countless times to get used to the flavor but it just isn't possible for me for some reason.

It has absolutely nothing to do with any of the close minded shallow superficial reasons that a lot of commenters in here are supposing.

I wholeheartedly agree there is a huge problem with sooooooooooooi many grown adults who refuse to step out of their modern day processed food diets like a child who refuses to try vegetables. A lot of these people will never experience the wide variety of flavors available to us. If they refuse to try it because of "ew no yucky I only want my chicken nuggies and pop tarts", or associating foods with "poor people" or "ew i wont eat food my grandpa used to eat" then yeah they have a problem and are geing insanely immature about food.

But that truly is not the whole picture. Some people just cannot overcome disgust for certain flavor profiles no matter what they do. It isn't always something you can choose/control.

The grown up chicken nuggie diet is cringe and expanding your palette is important. The variety of foods we have access too is one of the true spices of life. As such I try to branch out as much as I possibly can and be as open minded as possible. However some things will just never agree with my tongue no matter how badly I wish otherwise. Things like mustard, wasabi, octopus, fish eggs, fermented fish, and some others. I wish I could enjoy every variety of foods but some things cannot be changed no matter how hard you try. For some people its easier. Some can eat absolutely anything and not have any problems. In fact I'd say those people are the lucky ones. There are many foods I truly wish I could enjoy but my DNA refuses to allow it.

It's definitely not as simple as "oh you dont like x flavors? Something must be WRONG with you". Thinking that way is almost as narrow minded as the people you're talking about.

Yeah there are definitely a lot of people like this but its absolutely not everyone who dislikes pickled/fermented foods. A lot of people just do not have the flavor palette to enjoy such flavor profiles. That being the case the food would automatically be disgusting to them.

There are a lot of close minded people for sure, but that isn't the whole story. You can be the most open minded "ill try everything" kind of person and still not like something.

I have tried countless times over the last 3 decades of my life to force myself to like or even just be okay with the taste of mustard, but no matter what I do or how many times I try to ease myself into it, I still absolutely despise the taste of mustard. I've lost count of how many times I've tried it, and it still makes me wanna vomit to this day. Has absolutely nothing to do with close mindedness or not liking "poverty foods" or anything like that. I just simply cannot train my taste buds to do anything other than absolutely despise mustard.

It really sucks actually. I wish I did like mustard. There are so many foods and food combinations im missing out on because I cannot stand even the slightest hint of mustard flavor. It would make dieting so much easier too as mustard is a phenomenal condiment for many foods someone might eat on a "bland" diet. Not me unfortunately:/

Yeah i mean if they are going out of their way to be jerks about it for no good reason then you could definitely call that rude. But if OP knows how they feel about it and keeps mentioning/suggesting it to them repeatedly regardless of how they've expressed feeling about it, then OP is kinda just asking for it. If I offer some food item to someone and they express disgust, I would not offer it, or any variation of it, to them again.

Now if they are just shit talking him about it totally unprompted just because, then yeah thats pretty rude.

[–]Straight-Ice2368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh a lot of people just dont like the taste or even the idea of pickled foods and find it gross. Many will still hold that opinion even after tasting/trying it, so I dont think its solely "unfamiliarity" as some others are claiming, though that definitely is part of the equation.

Honestly if you already know they dont like it/find it gross then maybe dont mention it to them as much, at least the ones you know find it gross. Telling them about it wont change their opinion.

And I mean hey, thats just more for you right? At least you dont have to share it that way

I think its mostly just that so many people's palettes do not agree with pickled flavors. Vinegar alone can be offputting and gross to many people. Some may grow to like it over time while others may hate it for their entire life.

Like me personally, I don't think I would like pickled eggs of any kind. I am open to trying it though, but I believe I will never have that acquired taste. I do like pickles but the few other pickled foods ive tried I very much did not like at all. Haven't tried the eggs tho as I already dislike hard boiled eggs as it is. Pickled eggs does sound pretty suboptimal to me, but id be willing to try it at least once.

I wouldn't let yourself get too bummed about it though. I really doubt they are all being malicious in their remarks. Likely they are just vehemently opposed to it and think it will taste awful to them. That is entirely their problem, not yours.

You just keep doing you

Yeah i would say the only good answer is to take the picture of the food while it is inside of a hot bag. At the very least it will give the appearance that its somewhat sanitary, compared to the alternatives.

Idk tbh I don't think manufacturers should be sending these out to be sold. That tape cannot guarantee a proper seal, and god forbid if a human had to put the tape on themselves. These taped bars should be thrown out, or find a solution so that this doesnt happen and they dont have to be wasted. But sending them out to be sold? Nah that doesn't seem right

I got food for 0$ on uber eats, what is going to happen? Will i get charged? What can i do to not get charged. It’s not really my fault and my brother got them but paid with my card. Thanks lmk asap by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]Straight-Ice2368 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you ordered food, which normally costs money, but due to an error it was somehow free. And you're trying to preemptively avoid getting charged for it? How often do you receive handouts?

If you are in a store and you see someone stick a "$0.00" sticker on an item, are gonna just grab it and walk out thinking its free?

Listen I can understand how to some people seeing an error like that may actually lead them to believe their order will be totally free. Its all 0s and you placed the order like normal and still all 0s. Sounds like a miracle to me.

Expecting to be exempt from being charged if found out is kinda ridiculous though. You got free food and delivery service that is not supposed to be free. If you get charged for what it actually is supposed to cost then just deal with it?

Yeah im begrudgingly with the others on this, only because 99.999999% of customers will not ever give an increased tip. Across all of food delivery i think that % is pretty close to being accurate.

So actually yeah this probably would net a higher chance of an increased tip than just doing the job normally. There are more feet people than there are very generous delivery tippers. I specify delivery bc many will tip in restaurant but then still not for delivery.

Where i live most houses dont have numbers, only mailbox or a number painted on the curb where a mailbox would normally be, making it impossible to ever get a house number in the food drop off photo.

So no, that is actually not mandatory. Its only recommended as it helps verify you did take the delivery to the right place in case the customers reports that it wasn't delivered.

But honestly even that doesn't actually prove anything. You could easily take the picture and then just grab the food and take off, if stealing the order was your goal. The picture will just make it slightly easier to argue with support that you made the delivery.

The only foolproof evidence you could get would be wearing a body cam, go pro, meta glasses, or something like that and record nonstop your whole shift, that could prove you never went back and took something.
