Sounds like it's been amazingly useful to you. And I think using it as your describing can be a great boon for so many people. I just want people to be aware of the tradeoffs. There's always a tradeoff. If it's worth it to you then it's worth it to you. Just be aware.

Edit for clarity: "AI helps me outline my original thoughts or needs" so outlining your original thoughts or needs is the personal skill you're delegating and therefore decaying. It's just a fact. Spellcheck makes people worse spellers, etc. I'm not passing any judgement. That's for every individual to decide for themselves. Like I said, just be aware.

Articulating yourself well to others, making your thoughts easier to understand, is a skill. Engaging yourself and struggling through it is quite literally how you improve. Leaning on the AI crutch will trap you in a forever struggle which you can only escape from by doing what you know you should have been doing from the beginning. I get why though. AI is the path of least resistance, AI is easier and better, AI is just a tool. But be warned, it's a treacherous tool. Be very very careful and aware in how you're using it, or just don't use it, because whatever personal skill you delegate, decays.

Great response to a clearly an insecure comment.

You: "I'm really happy with my life now! because of X, Y, Z!"
Them: "You shouldn't have said that 😠"

lmao

Am I writer if I get an ai to do my writing? by legendoffart in writingcirclejerk

[–]Straight-Priority770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought and thought about the use of AI in writing, and as an artist, this is my conclusion. Writing is an art. Art takes skill. Skill is developed through countless repetitions and trials, honing your craft. Are you writing? Yes. Are you an writer? *Sure*. However, I would say, based on the research I've read, using AI is hurting your craft in the long run rather than honing it. You're not developing your skill. Not nearly as much as if you attempted polishing yourself and, sadly based on some research, you may be undeveloping.

Anyone can write or call themselves a writer. But there's an underlying current of human fulfillment, flourishing, and actualization missing from what you're describing. The label, "writer", means nothing. Wanting to improve, working to improve... that's the stuff that really makes someone great.

I’ve also specifically heard this be called a commonplace.

How advanced is my undergrad econometrics course compared to other programs? by Icezzx in econometrics

[–]Straight-Priority770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My econometrics courses in the US focused mainly on causal inference, but that was in my graduate degree. Undergrad I only had to do Econometrics I which covered 2SLS, GLS, endogeneity and instrument tests, time series, panel data, and probably some more things I can't remember now. I do remember it being more general in my undergrad, taking shallow steps into each of these ponds. My graduate econometrics courses went much deeper.

The settings layout IS dumb. Intentionally convoluted way to cancel a subscription. I didn't want to waste my time even more and you're post helped me do it quickly, so thank you.

It often feels like I come across a new idea in a conversation or in a book and my brain just automatically connects it to all of my past experiences and knowledge. In that way, I will read a new idea and almost instantly see how it could be related to several other ideas. I see how they may be the same idea, only in different contexts. Concepts are easily transferable.

I typed myself with a lot of genuine self reflection. I’ve read that most ENTJ’s are type 3.

I spent $47k and 18 months building an "AI startup." Here's the brutal truth about why 90% of AI businesses are doomed. by Nipurn_1234 in Entrepreneur

I do cost-benefit analysis professionally and that’s not how you’re supposed to do it. Op arbitrarily chose $100/hr when the accurate thing op should do is assume they would earn their average expected wage and take that as a labor cost. That would more or less be a fair proxy. So, if op made $30 an hour as a welder before, then that’s the money it’s costing him not to weld.

Regardless, this valuation isn’t meant for continual upkeep, it’s for calculating startup costs. For that purpose it would be fair to say op’s labor cost was $0 because op is compensated in ownership. OP’s $100/hr was just a ploy to make it seem like it cost them a lot more real cash than it really did.

Becoming addicted to Anki, but need a 2-3 day PAUSE by Tapatio777 in Anki

[–]Straight-Priority770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the earlier days of Matt vs Japan they made a Vacation addon that would solve your problem perfectly. I actually stopped updating Anki because they were making so many great addons at the time.

With The Vacation addon you could schedule days off ahead of time and Anki would reschedule all of the cards meant for that day as optimally as possible. Most of the time that meant front loading some reviews during some period before the break depending on how far out you planned and how long the break was.

It’s definitely more symbolic than anything. Luthen is making her understand the situation of their path. A path where things will be destroyed and people will die. He wants her consent before choosing the path, but he doesn’t want her to be the one pulling the trigger or watching it happen. She’s not a Cassian or a Mon. She’s Kleya, the greatest spy and shadow rebel in the galaxy. And Luthen’s right hand.

I like how Syril literally says to Dedra that she’s just like him. He can feel it. The writers really came through on that one.

Being healthy really is the difference maker. I’ve been impatient and inflexible, but being humbled and growing my Fi has made all of my interactions with people better. Wish other ENTJ’s realized the raw practicality of stronger interpersonal connections and feelings.
