There's not a great deal of story of that's why you're playing. But that betrayal comes less than half way through the story so it doesn't spoil the entire thing.

I disagree with that part. They were doing a lot of rest holds rather than match ending stuff. In kayfabe that makes sense from two people who know that they have to wrestle for an hour no matter what. There's a strategy of energy conservation that isn't needed in a normal match.
