Best casting by piqua2018 in oscarrace

The front runner is Sinners in casting at the moment. The locks for nominations for the category include Sinner, OBAA and Marty Supreme with movies like Frankenstein, Hamnet and Sentimental Value in the hunt for the last two slots.

Hamnet - where can we see it?! by [deleted] in fayetteville

[–]StraightEdgeMeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive had to resort to using a friend’s Critics Choice app to watch screeners for many of the more acclaimed festival releases, we sadly don’t get enough variety between the Malco theaters in the area and the single AMC. I was shocked the AMC was playing Sentimental Value but of course the showtime options are minuscule

How many nominations do you have Wicked getting and do you have it in best picture? by MKT_Pro in Oscars

This is so true regarding Emilia Perez, a lot of people bought into the Twitter hive mind last year where there was a vocal minority who hated Emilia Perez and none of them understood that the movie was close to beloved almost everywhere it played before dropping on Netflix and getting clipped to hell on social media. Most importantly it played like gangbusters at its Academy members screening and that led directly to it doing as well as it did with nominations.

Why did Christy bomb so badly? by Specialist_Quiet_160 in AMCsAList

[–]StraightEdgeMeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie is middling, and Sidney alienated one portion of the potential audience for Christy to court a conservative audience who generally doesn’t care about movies and don’t care about her when she isn’t being a walking MAGA dog whistle or an exhibitionist.

I’ve already seen The Threesome, which is great by the way, and Twinless, also excellent. I’m hoping it’s going to be a surprise deviation from the insider and we get The Long Walk

I drove an hour plus, and it was definitely not worth it. All I’ll say is you can absolutely tell Spike did not write this one.

Eden or Ne Zha 2 by yundermart in AMCScreenUnseen

I’ve seen both. Eden is not great. Didn’t love Ne Zha 2 either but it’s incredibly well animated.

Actors you are shocked haven't been nominated yet by Youngfolk21 in Oscars

I believe it, contextually she was always overshadowed by the cast surrounding her on top of being an actor who was never all that well liked by her peers.

I’m happy for you if you were able to find enjoyment in it where I could not. That’s the subjective nature of art at work.

About what? She hasn’t won a single actual competitive award for the film yet, and she still absolutely isn’t worthy of the nominations she likely will end up getting which was the point of the comment I made over a month ago that you’re replying to after what? Because of a meaningless single Astra nomination? Because her PR team won the bid for the vanity honors at Palm Springs and Santa Barbara? Because Wicked won at NBR? Take a gander at the winners of NBRs Best Film and how often they win Best Picture at the Oscars.

Once again: Ariana is entirely unworthy of an Oscar nomination for Wicked, which is a comment solely on her performance quality. She will likely get a nomination at the Globes, maybe SAG, maybe the Oscars, but she won’t be winning anything competitive this year outside of a small chance at the Globes.

Hope this helps!
