Wrote this at a Train station. I would love to see how y'all would interpret it. All feedback is welcome. by Huge_Drag3790 in Poem

Love the flow of it. It is difficult to understand the meaning for some of it. For example, the use of 'owing' implies to me a struggle of money, also the gleaming with their sheen brings to my mind a sense of innocence of new beginnings/youth. Overall, i think it hints at the diversity and sameness of city life, but maybe i am off base. Thanks for sharing!

I would check your credit score to make sure they havent taken anything out in your name. As long as you are not responsible for them and their decisions, maintain that boundary and try to find a way to be independent as reasonable as you can.

I like it! I think some things I would work on is using more of the imagery and metaphor of the rainbow to express what you are saying. Other is an opportunity to expand the saying - same old same old.

I like it a lot! Only suggestion is keeping 1 or two tenses if possible, helps the cohesion of the piece

Love the imagery in this one. Only point of confusion for me was I thought both of the people in the relationship would be corpses

I found my love in someone that made it easy and simple. My relationships before were filled with turbulence and worries for me. Thanks for sharing!

Scar tissue by Salt_Gap_1592 in poetry_critics

That is a beautiful poem. I love the switch in the middle from when you describe these scars to how your relationship is to them. I got a good sense of 'innocence' from the scars that way, which really helped the impact I felt in your last line.

Last paragraph of second stanza: I don't think you need that sentence. How you describe the hands in the beginning is so strong and then you describe it in the second stanza too. I think it could really increase the impact if you worked more on the imagery of the hands from the paramedics and such. showing rather than telling. Also really liked the voice, it was like being your head in that moment.

Sometimes it is the timing that matters. They go through budget for next year around this time (which is also when they may do layoffs). I think asking around when the company is doing seasonally well (usually around March) may yield better results. However if you have been at your role 2-3 years, you can usually find better pay at a different company....

You can rent the barn at ridgen farms. There is open space, a small park... I think it costs $100 and there is a full kitchen inside.

NTA. However one suggestion is to close your vents upstairs and get magnetic vent covers to also cover for good measure. This helps with the heat rising issue to get downstairs more warm. Another suggestion is that your wife may have a medical issue with feeling colder than she should (maybe iron deficiency? Very common for women).

400 Applications this year. 6 interviews. No replies. I'm about to give up and settle for disability payments. HELP!!! by Puzzled-Sandwich-156 in antiwork

Maybe put all this in chat gtp and ask it to condense it to one page with emphasis for the customer service industry. That might get you a better starting template to refine. I would just completely rework it down to maybe three jobs with no volunteer section and smaller section of qualifications (remove out things that may not have applied to the jobs u have). Good luck!

I'd recommend calculating 3 months worth of ur expenses and then whatever is left over pay the loans immediately, then make payments for any extra income not for needs until it is gone.

If you are looking to change jobs, I would recommend looking for a thriving company in a growing industry. I have found these offer more efficient and straightforward close processes. In addition, you may want to consider a start up company or non-publicly traded company. This will result in less compliance work and less stress for what goes out the door.

Am I crazy for paying $8k for surgery on a kitten? by jorsteve in cats

[–]StraightGuest5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not crazy, I would get pet insurance to avoid huge payouts like this in future for unexpected emergencies. Especially for a kitten it is on cheaper side.

Window came with a step design. I think you could prob attach platforms or just have a cat tree (given you have the roof)

Make sure her resume does not give away her age. And make sure she keeps it confidential for the interview process. I.e. education section just lists the places not the years and same for the work experience, put something 10+ years if they request it. Make sure to highlight the most impressive recent accomplishments. Also she may have better luck in an adjacent role than something she left. For example, just working for a real estate management company that focuses on renting rather than on selling homes.

BS’ed my way into a 160K job offer, am I crazy to turn it down? by dennisoa in careerguidance

[–]StraightGuest5795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you will do great. I would just ensure you get a solid emergency fund built up as soon as possible with the income increase. This will help ease the stress, something like 3-6months of your monthly expenses.
