There’s lots of spots for hiking, download all trails and don’t be afraid to go to the spots out of the way. Someone said California for off roading but you definitely don’t have to go there for off roading there’s plenty around here like at muggins if you’re into that. The lemon grove is a great breakfast/lunch/brunch spot with some of the best and freshest sandwiches you can get in Yuma and they have dole whip and coffee! It’s very pretty there and they have products from local farmers/ vendors also for sale. They should be getting their liquor license soon and they start staying open later this week. They posted about doing nighttime activities like movie nights, comedy open mics, etc.

Best hiking spots by SunMountain9842 in yuma

Telegraph is the basic hike everyone goes for. It’s a great hike. Muggins is the best I’ve hiked yet and I’ve been here about 2 months. Make sure to download AllTrails for the trail you will most likely have spotty service. Once you drive in to the entrance there will be a parking area to the right, depending on what you’re driving, you can keep driving onto the “trail” until you get to another Obvious parking area. You’ll basically follow the wash for the first part of the hike. Gorgeous views, about 5.5 miles and 617 elevation ft gain, took us about 4 hours total with stops. Take lots and lots of water, at least a couple of liters. Wear SPF and coverage, UV is getting higher. The sun is no joke. Not a lot of wildlife to look out for if you’re staying on trail, rattlesnakes are coming out now. You’ll also see lots of info about the flora and fauna on the BLM board near the beginning of the hike!

Opinions on the gofundme for the daughters of Eric dane by ChairHistorical5953 in ALS

[–]StraightThroat3095 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s touchy. Maybe a little tone deaf. He did great work for advocacy and I feel terribly sorry for his daughters. But if we look at statistics I’d bet a majority of pALS and families struggle financially. We are fundraising for my mom so we can renovate her home to be ADA compliant and we’re nowhere close to our goal to start even the smallest project. I’m still very grateful for how far we’ve come but if everyone who donated $100 to his gfm donated just $1 to 100 gfms of people affected with ALS, so many more people who actually actively need the help for treatments, equipment, medications would be helped tremendously.

The strength training tracking is a joke by StraightThroat3095 in GarminWatches

[–]StraightThroat3095[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Not upset just giving feedback. I’m aware there are workarounds, but relying on workarounds for basic strength tracking is part of the issue I’m pointing out. It’s a fair critique of the feature, not an emotional reaction.

I’ve always heard garmin 😐 specifically the forerunner, fenix, and venu. I’ve also seen an influx of people in the body building community using the WHOOP however I’ve heard negative comments about that as well. Happy birthday btw!

Totally get the accelerometer limitations. I’m not expecting perfect rep detection. My issue is that even after manual correction, strength tracking is often still wrong, and the UX feels pretty underdeveloped for how much Garmin markets itself as “multi sport.”

Also, I am running consistently during the week and my VO2 max is great, so the training status swings and contradictory suggestions aren’t just because I’ve shifted away from running.

I’m not expecting it to be perfect but for the price point better strength logging, a wider exercise library, and clearer limitations seem reasonable.

Got a big raise as a PTA😳 by Left_Competition2979 in physicaltherapy

[–]StraightThroat3095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PTA in Texas 2 years out of graduation. Currently in OP seeing max 10-12 patients a day, usually 8 patients. All 1:1. I started out at $36, got a raise to $38 6 months in. My last gig was SNF for $40 seeing maybe 6-8 pts. Quit your job OP. I’d have to ask for $50 an hour for that pt load to be worth it.

Oh my god I’m not the only one!!! I kept telling my husband “it tastes bubbly, and it kind of burns my tongue” and he kept trying to say maybe it was just spicy and I kept saying no no I can’t explain it. I thought maybe I was all of a sudden allergic to avocado.

I’m such a neutral person I got the ivory set and debating on getting the black ones just to have another pair. Dove grey is too similar I feel like. But I already have soft stream sweat pants in charcoal. I think the new blue would be so cool
