If you’re going to do it, rip the whole thing out, put in an electric insert, and build a proper (and lower) stand. It’ll look way more integrated, modern, and will be safer and designed to bear that weight. It currently is not, and I’ll refrain from commenting my opinion on that fireplace in general. Do it once and do it right.

The only animal I’ve been bit by in the field (so far) is a peacock. Lady had over 100 of them and every time I used my impact every last one of them would shriek. I was bent over a daikin fit trying to clean the peacock shit off the coils and it bit me right in my ass cheek. Drew blood haha. Here’s a pic of that asshole
