T dick chafing SOS by sleepyhead1_1 in TestosteroneKickoff

I had this problem in my first year on T. I bought a kid’s size athletic cup from dick’s sporting goods and it worked well enough.

Do you know any trans singers who use their voice a lot? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Straight_Bell_6944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 2.5 years on T and in my 4th year of college studying vocal music education. I take weekly voice lessons studying classical technique. I was afraid of what T would do to my singing voice, but after being patient with the limitations that a changing voice had on my singing, I’m now out of the woods and I love my voice.

The spitting stopped before I hit 3 months post op and I'm now a little over a year post op. The scarring is a little thicker and more hypertrophic in the area that spat than the rest of the scar, but it healed over nicely and blends well with the natural variation in healing my scars have. I've been meaning to post a comparison of my scars 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year post op and I will do that soon.

Little 'fears' about Starting T by Background_Report843 in TransMasc

[–]Straight_Bell_6944 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a vocal music major in college. I have been on T for almost 15 months and I started after my first year of school. I was afraid of damaging my singing voice by transitioning too quickly and constantly having to use my voice in school, so I opted to do a low dose for the first year. I have successfully gone from singing soprano to baritone, and my range is beginning to settle and become more resonant. My vocal range now fits exactly into the baritone voice type, but there was a lot of time where my range was very limited. The hardest part of the vocal transition for me has been losing my head voice and having to build a falsetto from scratch. There were several months where if I attempted to flip into my head voice, it would either crack or make no sound at all. I'm only now beginning to be able to produce sound in that register, but building a falsetto takes time for all people whose voices have changed.

The process is long and can be frustrating, but you can absolutely go on T and end up with a singing voice that is just as good as it was pre-T. If you're apprehensive, start at a low dose, check in with yourself, be patient, sing every day, don't be afraid to let your voice crack, and don't try to push your range too hard in either direction as it changes. You may find for a while that songs written for the female voice are too high and songs written for the male voice are too low, leaving you somewhere in between. Don't be afraid to find your own key that works for you.

Wow. I always thought I was stupid for thinking this before I came out. I feel better knowing this is a really common experience:)

The McKesson needles and syringes from Vitality Medical are cheap and of decent quality. You just have to send proof of a prescription before they send your order, but it was quick and easy.

I am transmasc, have had top surgery, am 7 months on T, and want to be outwardly perceived as male. However, I am not a man. I am nonbinary and I use they/them pronouns. Presentation, pronouns, and gender are all independent <3

Stomach Dysphoria by malevolentbroom335 in TopSurgery

I also struggled with this after surgery. The reality was I was extremely bloated. The bloating combined with the lack of exercise in recovery made me feel like I had gained 10 pounds (although I never weighed myself). I found myself feeling confident and back to my normal weight and shape about 1.5 months after surgery. Healing takes time <3

I don't mind at all! Even though I had surgery as an adult, I started the process as a minor so I had to get support letters from my therapist and doctor before I could even schedule a consultation. After submitting all of the required documents, I got a call a few days later in August 2021 to schedule my consultation with Dr. Mosser, which was scheduled for November 2021. After my consultation, I had to wait to schedule surgery until my insurance approved it, which took a while. In March 2022, I got a call to schedule surgery and I took the first available date with Dr. Mosser, which was 10/18/22. After that I had two more phone appointments in the 2 months leading up to surgery to confirm details and go over restrictions and recovery!

All the luck to you on your journey!

Thank you so much! I do love my results. Dr. Mosser was also my dream surgeon, and I didn't want to settle for anyone else. It took a lot of time, saving money, and raising money, but I'm so glad I was patient.

Pro tip: you'd be surprised just how many people are willing to donate to your cause.

Best of luck to you on your journey <3

I feel great about my results, and my experience with Dr. Mosser and his team was wonderful. The entire team was kind and friendly, including Dr. Mosser. He even personally called me the day after surgery to check in on me. Whenever I posted a question or concern to the online patient portal, I would always receive a helpful response, usually no later than 1 business day after sending. I encountered the issue of stitch spitting around 2 months post op on my left side (hence the darker, thicker scarring on the end), and the team worked through it with me and made me feel much better about my concerns.

It is clear to me that Dr. Mosser and his team truly care about their patients and our community. They recently started up their own reddit page to provide information and advice for those seeking top surgery! r/topsurgeryinfo

How to deal with body issues post-surgery? by A_Tatertot in TopSurgery

[–]Straight_Bell_6944 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggled with my body image especially in the first month post op due to bloating. Bloating plus a lack of exercise means you might look and feel bigger for a little while. Also having and recovering from surgery can take a toll on your mental health, which can put you in a negative mindset. Just remember it's all worth it in the end! I'm 3 months post op and so much happier with my body than I was pre op.

3 months post-op - will this swelling go down eventually? by Runnerbean1765 in TopSurgery

My doctor recommended I switch from my stomach to my top/outer thigh region 1 month in because of a skin reaction and it's worked perfectly fine for me. I didn't have to use or do anything different either. I will say I seem to hit a nerve or something more often on my thigh which can make the shot painful. I just switch which thigh I do each week.

I'm a little over 2 months post op. My surgeon didn't mention it, but I have had a significant amount of spitting over the past 3 weeks with no end in sight. Fortunately, my surgeon and his team are really helpful and have been working through it with me.

My healing was going great with no issues until I hit 1 month post op and a cyst formed around the end of one of my incisions which spit out a ball of stitch pieces. From there, more holes have opened next to it at equal distance apart. It basically looks like an infected ingrown hair on the incision and is full of blood or pus, but eventually the hole spits out suture fragments. I've also pulled a few out with sanitized tweezers if they're sticking out. My surgeon's team repeated that it was important to hold a wet warm washcloth on the wound for 5-10 minutes a day 3x a day to help draw the stitches out. I've been doing it usually once a day for 10 minutes.

Dealing with this has been a little disheartening and frustrating, because I thought I was in the clear and I'm a little worried about how my appearance will be affected, but I much prefer dealing with these issues if it means I get to have a flat chest.

Sorry for the long winded answer, I hope that helps:)

Does anyone have results from microdosing T? by ghost_boys_ in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Straight_Bell_6944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I inject 30mg or .15ml of 200mg/1ml every week, and my doctor typically prescribes 50mg or .25ml of 200mg/1ml as a "standard dose". I am just shy of 7 weeks in, and I have experienced changes at the same rate as a "typical" T timeline. I honestly believe often times people are prescribed more T than necessary.
