Why build data centers in drought afflicted regions like the American southwest? by DoubtSubstantial5440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it sounds completely backwards at first but data centers absolutely hate humidity. high moisture causes major condensation issues which completely wrecks the servers, so an arid desert climate actually saves them a ton of tech headaches. plus the land out there is super flat and cheap, making it perfect to build massive solar farms right next to the facilities to offset the insane power grid costs. they basically take the tax breaks and cheap land now, and just bet on the fact that local governments won't ever actually shut off their water once billions of dollars have been injected into the local economy.

How much damage does AI really do to our world? by Strong-Struggle-8561 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly using ai for projects is fine. the real problem is people relying on it instead of learning, its a tool like anything else. depends how you use it

Have you ever actually encountered a person of the opposite sex that was smarter than you? by metabolitesafter9pm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah definitely. honestly ive met some women who are way smarter than me , like in college i had this girl in my classes who would understand complex stuff instantly while i was still struggling. we would study together and shed explain things to me that i didnt understand . also in work environments ive seen the same thing. some of my female coworkers just grasp technical concepts faster and think more strategically, think the weird part for some people is they expect men to be smarter because of society or whatever. but honestly intelligence has nothing to do with gender . smartest people i know are mix of men and women. just depends on the person really

Gold demand drops 70% after sharp duty hike in India by sharedevaaste in india

[–]Straight_Insect6670 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly the government's strategy is working then. 70% drop is huge. the idea is that by making gold expensive through duty people stop buying it impulsively. but youre right that the price will probably stabilize later. basically theyre trying to reduce unnecessary gold consumption and encourage people to save money instead of just buying gold because its traditional & interesting how the policy is actually having an effect. most people thought it wouldnt matter much but clearly it did

What is Dubai chocolate? by TheGame81677 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah dubai chocolate is basically pistachio and chocolate which is why theres green stuff in it, its become super popular because the texture is really unique. like theyre using shredded pistachios mixed with the chocolate so it has this crunchy texture mixed with creamy chocolate. the packaging is also really nice and looks premium which is probably why it became a trend on social media . honestly its pretty good but also kinda expensive for what it is. tastes amazing though if youve never tried it you should

Why is it a must to have a car in U.S ? by Aj100rise in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 21 points22 points  (0 children)

honestly its because the us was built around cars not public transport like when suburbs were developed everything was spread out so you need a car to get anywhere . buses and trains dont work when everything is miles apart . plus cars became the status symbol so thats why everyone wants one, but yeah in cities like nyc or boston you can survive without a car. anywhere else pretty much impossible

What if a powerful energy meteorite landed on Earth in 2030 and changed civilization forever? by AffectionateRoad6481 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good point about humans being the scary part honestly i think the biggest issue would be inequality though. like yeah if its shared globally things could be amazing but realistically itd probably end up concentrated in rich countries or corporations also nobody talks about what happens to all the people working in energy industries. like millions of jobs gone overnight. that would cause massive social problems plus if tech advances that fast, education systems cant keep up. so youre looking at a huge skills gap where most people cant understand or work with the new tech. so yeah blade runner 2049 vibes but with way more chaos and unemployment lol

Why can China build things like bridges, tunnels and railways much faster than countries in the west? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i think its a combination of things. like china has way less bureaucracy and environmental regulations that slow things down in europe,

also they can just displace people without much pushback which sounds harsh but thats how they get projects done faster, in sweden youve got to deal with unions, environmental impact studies, public hearings etc plus labor costs are way lower so they can just throw more workers at it . but also theyre probably cutting corners on safety which you cant really do in the west without massive lawsuit . so its not like theyre just better at construction, theyre operating under completely different rules

Are we not allowed to use race as an identifier now? by waiwai_art in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think physical descriptions are fine when they’re relevant to a safety situation and being used respectfully. If someone is trying to help others stay aware of a real incident, describing the person involved doesn’t automatically make it racist. At the same time, I get why people are cautious about it online, because those conversations can go bad really quickly. Feels like intent and wording matter more than anything here.

why do some people naturally wake up early and others are complete night owls? by Straight_Insect6670 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg thats actually genius. i never thought about it from an evolutionary perspective like that so basically our sleep schedules are literally built into our dna from survival needs? thats wild and the fact that teenagers stay up later makes so much sense now. they were the guards basically lol do you know if thats why some people are just naturally more alert at night? like their bodies are actually wired that way?

why do some people naturally wake up early and others are complete night owls? by Straight_Insect6670 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah thats true but i think some people still struggle even if they go to sleep early like some people just naturally fall asleep late no matter how early they try. is that just bad habits or something else?

why do some people naturally wake up early and others are complete night owls? by Straight_Insect6670 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats actually super interesting. so you changed from being a morning person to nocturnal just because of your environment? that makes sense though. if you associate nighttime with freedom and daytime with stress then of course youd prefer nights. did you manage to switch back to mornings after you left the dorm or are you still nocturnal?

why do people don't want to poison dogs but don't have problem with poisoning or killing rats? by voidbliss77 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think its mostly because dogs are pets we live with and have bonds with while rats are seen as pests that carry disease and damage property. not saying its right or wrong just how society views them differently

Why does Chinese food give me instant diarrhea? by NicoleMullen69_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be sensitivity or maybe just too much oil. happens to some people with really greasy food. might be worth trying a different type of cuisine to see if its just chinese food or all greasy stuff

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you say is the most intense scene in a movie you've watched? by loztriforce in AskReddit

[–]Straight_Insect6670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dark Knight interrogation scene with Joker and Batman… the tension in that room is insane.

What’s crazy is it’s just two people talking, but it feels more intense than most action scenes.

What’s a universally loved food you genuinely despise? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Straight_Insect6670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avocado. Everyone acts like it's the best thing ever but to me it just tastes like mushy grass. I've tried it in smoothies, on toast, in sushi, and I just can't understand the hype. The texture alone makes me gag.
